I cook and bake a lot, always trying new recipes. Because I'm a Brit, that means weighing things. So when I decided to lose weight and people said 'use a scale' it wasn't a chore. I don't weigh everything, only calorie dense things but when something is 25% more than it says that adds up. I do appreciate how if you've not…

That is excellent news, you should eat the numbers you've been given, and it's more likely to be sustainable. Also, just for information: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html/ I found when I had an 'unexpected plateau' i.e. not overeating, I very much had whooshes

That actually sounds alarming. It sounds like the waist trainer is replacing your muscles to keep you upright, causing weakness.

I don't eat at 'spoons often but noticed it last time, it made me change my choice, but then they'd run out so changed my mind again anyway! Quite a lot of UK chains will have the counts on their website or an information sheet even if they don't do it on the menu

I read the article on the site and realise it had been just lifted from The Sun which I think might be the second most bull *kitten* paper after The Daily Mail especially in the UK The Sun is still boycotted in huge areas of the country after they had a car crash of reporting about the Hillsborough disaster…

I love Frank's, I think I get through a bottle a fortnight. This is too much though: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2015/jun/30/i-ate-sriracha-hot-sauce-on-everything-for-an-entire-day OP, unless you have a medical condition where sodium is an issue for you, why does it matter? ETA: my husband buys…

I'm in Southern England but I'm sure as hell not standing outside with 30% of my skin uncovered every day (it's -1) Also I take Folic Acid as it's recommended for women my age. I have a varied diet, I've never been told I need to suppliment after any blood tests

Well done on the loss. I've started C25k, and I've also signed up to parkrun. I don't know if they have that where you are but when I get a bit more confident I can have a regular 5k in a relaxed place. I think just taking it steady is the key, even when I was finding the C25k difficult I was noticing my stamina/fitness…

wow, I had to scroll a lot for the size of that flagpole

I don't drink them, mostly because the taste is grim, and some of the combinations give me a headache. It seems a bit odd that it's the only thing you want to hang your weight change on. Isn't there anything else that coluld have contributed? like portion creep, relaxed logging, less activity, more cheat days, etc? May be…

When I'm sleep deprived I do stop losing/gain weight, but only because I turn in to a walking food monster. Also what I crave in my fuddled state is high stodge comfort food.

It reminds me of the things that circulate on facebook 'people with blue eyes love easily and are a good thing'. It's all suitably vague that anyone can believe it applies to them with their own bias

Slightly less than 100lb to go now after already losing some! and I'm still on my 20's (just)

I took xenical for a bit, (stronger prescription dose) for a few months, I didn't, fortunately, have any accidents but it did require: Also, most importantly. I didn’t lose any weight, you can still eat high cal without too much fat.

I found that article some time ago, Made a decision to implement it after losing 2 stone (28lb = 25% of goal), I tracked still but upped my carby foods. The good, is that my trend weight is up only 0.75 of a lb and I imagine glycogen and water has a bit to do with that. The bad, 3 weeks turned into almost 3 months at this…

I wouldn't discount all hormonal contraception based on one type, there are more options available. As your Doctor says it might settle down. You sound like you're from the UK if so you can always call NHS 111 for non-emergency advice if you're concerned, and you can always request to see another doctor within the practice…

I've never done weight watchers, but hung around a lot of people who have. I know one person who has kept it of for 25+ years after just following the original plan (no meetings). Also I know one person who signs up every January, has lapsed by June re-gains the weight plus 5lb, then starts again. It really depends on what…

So has working in your field made you feel differently about life? (Vague I know) I spent some time working in a transplant ward and it made me a bit of a zelot about blood/organ donation. And my parents being in the legal field made me proritise life insurance and wills (I don't know any of my peers who are that…

Eurgh indeed. My now-husband and I had discussed getting married and we'd agreed that we'd do it in the next year or two. But he felt A ‘proper’ proposal was appropriate. So he proposed in a very significant place to us, (albeit public). My first response was ‘get up you daft bugger’ then followed by ‘yes I will marry…

Yep, since 'our' Brexit vote I know a few couples where one of them is from an EU country where they're planning to marry sooner than perhaps they would.
-
Eurgh that man :unamused: He steals kitten gifs off the internet, posts them on facebook so he has millions of followers and looks reputable. Then before you know it my 'new to facebook' baby boomer relatives are telling me how you only need to eat organic and fast on days ending in a 'y' to cure/prevent cancer. He's…

I have one, although long past halloween Some friends were at my (parental) home and it was getting late, So I drove my friend K home so she wouldn’t have to walk. I’m passing a Y junction in my small town and a dog runs out of nowhere. So I slam on the brakes and swerve but I’m worried I’ve clipped it. K is like ‘what are…

A slice of grilled halloumi goes with all soups, just to up the protein you understand

It depends where you are but there are some really good individual serve or multi-compartment pots available with insulation. I was always over the fat recommendation so I just moved my macros around and now only really try to hit protein. I know about avoiding people, since my lunch buddy moved away I try and go for a…

I make quite a lot of soups and stews, they can be really cheap, veg-heavy and filling. Today for lunch I'm having a bean soup I made with some canned beans and what was left in the fridge. I'll normally make 4-8 portions and have some over a couple of days as a work lunch and freeze the rest in individual portions before…

I think my favourite part of this is this sentence: Electrodermal Screening is recognized by the FDA as a galvanic skin resistance device and, with its focus on the function of the body’s internal organs, provides a wealth of information about what is affecting the body. How deceptive, presumably this just means the device…
