  • You go to a lunch meeting and it's a carb fest (bread, chocolate, cookies, cake, etc) but you aren't tempted. Instead I ate my tuna with mayo, salad with ranch dressing and cheesecake fat bomb. :)
  • When I was heavier I didn't worry so much about calories, but the less weight I had to lose, I realized I had no idea how many calories I was actually eating. When I wasn't counting calories, I struggled to get below 172. If I did, it was for a day and I'd bounce back up again. I was 165.8 this morning. So I think when you…
  • I made a cheesecake recipe and divided the batter among 6 individual cups. It hits the spot. I don't crave sweets too much, but it's delicious and a good way to get my fat in. The plus side is that it also fills me up. I suppose that's my "fat bomb". Canned pumpkin mixed with cream cheese, Splenda, cinnamon and nutmeg is…
  • I think I've been fortunate that my friends and family don't question me too much when they see the results from me eating this way. They know how heavy I used to be and how much my body has changed because of it. My step brother did make a comment on Memorial Day when he saw me dipping my burger into mayo. He said I was…
  • My macros typically run 70/25/5, although today I am 78/15/7. MFP sets my calories at 1,390 with almost 15 lbs left until goal. I generally eat between 1250-1300.
  • My problem is that I don't have bowel movements enough. Maybe once every two days. I'm lucky if it's once a day lol.
  • I had one of those days today. Today I found myself hitting the candy dish at work. Not sure why, but I ate several pieces of chocolate. I'm not sure what triggered it considering I haven't slipped for a little over two months.
  • I'm Laura, 30 years old, 5'6". I started low carb at 240 lbs and my most recent weight is 167.2. I'm about 17 lbs from my goal weight. I've tried many different diet approaches in the past, but I didn't find success until I discovered low carb. I've fallen off the wagon more times than I care to admit. Mostly because I…
  • Regular pop now makes me sick from all the sugar. Even when I was in between low carb, I would always drink sugar free drinks, specifically Diet Mt Dew. Ever since I first started low carb years ago, sugar free drinks has been the standard for me whether I was doing LC or not.
  • I just made one a few days ago using cream cheese as the base, and it was delicious! http://healthyketo.com/keto-cream-cheese/no-dough-low-carb-pizza-crust/ That's the one I used. I made it in a 12" pizza pan and it was thin, but I could still pick it up with my hands. It was really good cold, too. :) I'm going to buy a…
  • Since getting back on low carb I've lost 20 lbs in 2 months. I only have about 17 lbs to lose until my goal weight. When I first started low carb several years ago I lost 60 lbs in about 8 months. For a while I basically maintained my weight though at times I did gain 10 lbs. I've gone on and off low carb more times than I…
  • Last night I decided to try on a shirt that I had bought last year sometime. It's a low cut women's shirt. I bought it without trying it on thinking surely it'd fit. When I was 180 pounds it was so suffocating on my boobs and I felt like I couldn't breathe. It also wasn't flattering on my stomach either. Well it's actually…

  • Are you talking about the Kroger brand Carb Master yogurt? If so, I actually love it! My favorites are the carrot cake, cinnamon roll and caramel spice cake. Some flavors are definitely better than others.
  • One Minute Muffin made with flaxseed! It's really good. I flavor mine to taste kinda like banana bread. It does have an egg in it, but you can't taste it.
  • I can honestly say that being on a keto diet hasn't effected my cycle. My period comes every 28 days like clock work and lasts for 5 days. I generally have heavy periods for the first 3 days, but taking a combination Magnesium, Calcium and Zinc has really helped with that. In fact, the first month I took the combo I didn't…

  • :o I'm going to have to see if there's a Trader Joe's near me. I'd eat cauliflower more often, but I hate the task of having to drag out my food processor to make faux mashed potatoes.
  • Of course it is. If you eat more calories than you burn, obviously you're not going to lose weight. That wasn't the point behind my statement. My point was that "diets" aren't a one size fits all. Insulin resistance isn't nonsense. It makes sense. It would explain why person A can eat grains and starches and lose weight,…
  • Don't listen to all the naysayers. Just because they can eat grains and starches to lose weight, it doesn't mean all of us can. Good job! I personally went from to 240 to my current 169 by cutting out all grains, starches and refined sugar. If I eat grains and starches while being in a deficit, I don't lose weight. It's…
  • I also like the Jalapeno Chipotle burger from Smash Burger (can't remember if that's the official name lol) without the bun. It's really good. :) It comes with jalapeños, pepper jack cheese and a spicy chipotle sauce. So good! It comes with guacamole and onions too, but I get it without that.
  • I can't do Chipotle without the rice. It's just not the same. :( I do love their guac. It's delicious, but I've never had it in a bowl. Maybe once I'm to maintenance I'll revisit the idea.
  • Congrats! I haven't found the courage to quit smoking yet. I do want to quit, but today is not the day.
  • I don't drink anymore because my favorite drink, Four Loko, has 660 calories and 60g of sugar per can. Yikes! And to think I used to drink two of those every other weekend, on top of the food I already ate for the day. :o There's nothing else I'd want to drink, so I gave it up entirely.
  • There is literally a low carb alternative to just about any starchy carb food you are missing. I've been back on low carb for 2 months now and I haven't had cravings for any carbs, or think, "I really want to have (insert starchy food here) right now". In the past I would had picked up Chipotle for dinner after a stressful…
  • I always take a nap after work on Saturdays since I only work until noon. My naps are longer than most people's though. Mine are usually 3-4 hours but I feel better afterwards.
  • For me personally I had to drop my carbs to under 20 grams. Most people can do fine on a diet with a lot of carbs, however, I am not one of those people. My body is extremely sensitive to carbs (the starchy ones). I have cut out all starchy carbs and refined sugar. In doing so I've went from 240 to 170. But I know this is…
  • Personally I've been losing weight better since I've been logging my food and measuring/weighing. Sure, when I first started I easily got away without doing so and not worrying about calories. But with only 20 lbs left to lose, I feel like calories do matter. I'm sure before I was underestimating my calories by quite a…
  • I have a water bottle that holds 32 ounces of water and my goal is to drink 3 a day. Most days I usually hit that. If not, it's pretty close. I drink two bottles at work and I can usually get in my last one after work.
  • I love the Cajun seasoning. I put those on my burgers. I use Kickin' Chicken for my chicken and I have other various spicy seasonings like Chipotle Pepper. The hotter the better. My favorite is the hot Sriracha chili sauce over steamed broccoli. It'll clear your sinuses out for sure!
  • I honestly think that he was scared that if I lost more weight, I'd find someone else and leave him. But it's not like his "threat" would had stopped me from wanting to lose more weight. I'd just tell him, "there's the door" lol.
  • I went from 240 to 180 without counting calories although I was conscious of them. When I started logging and weighing my food, I was seeing better results in terms of weight loss since I only have 20 lbs to lose until goal and I know I was overeating. Flaxseed meal is a GREAT way to get in more fiber. And it's 0 carbs…
