  • Thanks for sharing your update! You look great! You should feel proud of yourself! Are your meals low carb so you are still in ketosis or are you out of ketosis? I just checked the other threads and was reminded you worked out and had some private training sessions. That's great! I've mentioned my program isn't into more…
  • Exactly Lisa! Choosing my goal weight should be my choice and shouldn't be discouraged. I suppose they were trying to keep me from being unrealistic. I do have a lot to lose!
  • You are doing GREAT Lisa! It sounds like you are making good adjustments. That's so exciting to get smaller clothes! I luckily have a big closet so I've been able to save clothes from sizes 16-22! Some are not in style anymore though! HaHa! I have gone down 3 sizes and that's neat. I should check out the Goodwill soon.…
  • How was your first week Amanda?
  • Lisa those are good suggestions I do have access to a pool and think I will look into a water aerobics class. At my monthly check in with the PA she always want to make sure I'm not doing any thing more than walking for exercise. They inaccurately say that exercise will take you out of ketosis. I asked in my class what if…
  • 5 pounds a week seems like a lot after the 2nd month. I'm settling in more like 3 pounds a week. But you're doing more exercise so you could do it. Are you checking for muscle loss or gain with a body fat analyzer? I bought one on Amazon for around $35
  • Congratulations Kate! I seem to be averaging 3 pounds a week now.
  • We can't even buy the broccoli cheese soup at our clinic, only the cream of chicken soup. I asked at the last meeting if they could order the broccoli cheese since it's getting cooler out and it would be nice to have some variety. She said she would ask the people who do the ordering.
  • That's too bad you weren't warned about the sugar free gum. My dietitian warned us that they have 1 to 2 carbs per stick. Even beef and chicken bouillon has one carb per cup. I also think your muscle might be strengthening and muscle weighs more than fat. You sure to take pictures of yourself and measurements so that even…
  • Congratulations! I actually agree with your doctor that it's healthy to introduce real food and the choices he gave you are spot on accurate to keep you in nutritional ketosis. The first few weeks you'll be losing a lot of water weight as you deplete your glycogen stores from your liver and muscles throughout your body. So…
  • Great job stepgal2012! I was happy to get weighed on Tuesday and get to 52 pounds down!
  • Welcome! Drink lots and lots of water and extra sodium. Bouillon is good. It's wonderful to be in ketosis but it's not so wonderful those first few day! ~~Julie
  • How are you doing "stepgal2012" ?
  • How are you doing Aquinnahwp11?
  • Lisa---Thanks for your reply. Everything you say makes sense to me about gaining muscle to burn more fat. I am going to work more on exercising. I have back and knee pain so I won't be going at it as hard as you but will do what I tolerate. Marral---Thanks for explaining your foundation training. What a great resource for…
  • Lisa---I read it takes only 3-4 days to deplete your glycogen stores and enter into ketosis if you are eating low carb but then it can take weeks to be fully efficient at burning fat it can take a few weeks. Hopefully you will feel better soon. I think it's wise to listen to your body about the amount of exercise you do.…
  • Welcome Michell! I hope you've had a good start! Wow! Michell, Kate, Maraal and Lisa all have said you are supposed to go down to 3 shakes. I asked about going down to 3 because some days I'd sleep later in the mornings on my days off or get busy in the afternoon doing errands or I wasn't that hungry. The dietician said…
  • Maral I love the idea of adding hot sauce to the chili and sloppy joe. You should try one packet of each and see if you like that. I got that idea from the clinic and it's good. I too really like the ice and extra water in the shakes. Has anyone tried the cheddar broccoli? We don't have that soup but I saw they do carry…
  • I really like the way your clinic operates compared to ours Lisa! Like I said in my first post of this thread they actually DISCOURAGED me from picking a goal weight in the normal BMI range! I'm 5'3" too and settled on 145 which is just above the normal range. My goal weight in high school was always 120!! I was usually…
  • Lisa...That's a similar approach that I took. I've been doing this for 3 months now and people are just starting to notice or talk to me about my weight loss. It's much better having the results to back it up!
  • In the other thread of "how's everyone doing?" LisaLovesTravel said: " My doc was pushing big for exercize starting week two- once ketosis is achieved- so I can gain and maintain muscle mass and not lose valuable muscle that helps to burn fat." That makes sense to me but as I posted just above this entry, our clinic only…
  • Thanks for reaching out Lisa! I live in Omaha. Your clinic is run so much different from mine. I have never seen a bariatric doctor, just the PA in my meetings but I would like to! They seem to be for those patients doing the bariatric surgeries. I don't feel the PA I see really gets all the science behind ketosis, just…
  • I appreciate your post. I messaged her privately and told her we do have or own group. Thanks for the warning and information. I got blasted before when I posted for the first time that I was planning on doing this. Too bad people can't let everyone believe and do what they feel is best for them. They probably mean well…
  • Thanks for the nice offer to mail a strawberry shake to me but I'll pass. It's not likely more water will make me like it that much more! :) The only bars we can officially have are the 130 calorie chocolate fudge bars and we have to have 2 to equal a meal. The fiber and sugar alcohols reduce the total carbs plus 3 other…
  • After 11 weeks I'm down 46 pounds. This is the best I've ever felt while losing weight. No real hunger or obsessive cravings like when I was on Weight Watchers. Being in nutritional ketosis has helped my arthritis pain too. My skin is so soft and my mood has improved. The rapid results are wonderful and the weekly classes…
  • Great progress!! I agree it IS weird to not eat normal food! I too think people have a hard time eating and drinking around me. Like I'm not participating in a shared activity.
  • Thanks for checking in 110tolose! 80 pounds down is great!! That's gotta be frustrating to have had insurance changes and then a stall for 3 months. I hope you can find what works for you to get the last 30 off.
  • Hi Kate how's it going? I hope you've burned off all your stored carbs and are fully adapted now! Did you get any headaches or crummy feelings while you were converting to ketosis? My husband and 17 year old son did the grocery shopping for a while. It was really hard to be around all that food and not be able to eat it! I…
  • When we started we got one variety pack and then we could choose from the shakes. The variety pack contained one packet of strawberry and the chicken soup along with five other things. I'm mistaken it was actually the bars not the chicken soup that we couldn't have for two weeks! Sorry! I think our dietitian was trying to…
