  • I should also add, maybe go and get your cholesterol and blood sugars and blood pressure checked as well. And then again in 3 months. If you’re eating well, those things (esp cholesterol) should have come down, and you’ll see the difference the diet is making on your health rather than just on the scales. Additionally it’s…
  • As others have said, just...start. Write down your overall goals, but make mini goals along the way to make the journey seem not so difficult. Otherwise it seems like a mountain to climb. Examples of my mini goals are: lose 1 stone, lose 10% of body weight, then 20%, 2 stone etc etc, until you reach your goal weight. I…
  • I woke up in One-derland this morning! Feels fab! Next mini goal is to lose 10% body weight (7 more lbs), and then get out of obese (9 more lbs). I also got my bloodwork back from the dr this morning. I am very low on iron so I’ll start taking iron supplements, my cholesterol was ok, not amazing, my LDL (bad) cholesterol…
  • PAM IS a good way to save calories yes, but have you ever read the ingredients list on the back of the can?
  • . Yes actually. This always surprised me As well. I tend to just use a tiny bit of water in the pan rather than oil now, but some things just need to be fried a bit don’t they?!
  • . Yea!! I always get so tired of people Telling me I should eat breakfast! Blah blah. I did that for 20 odd years and look where it got me. Now I only eat it if I’m hungry, then I have calories and snacks left for later in the day when I am ACTUALLY hungry!
  • My last mini goal was to get under 200 by feb 1st, today I was 202, so I’m fairly sure I will achieve that! Soooo my next mini goals are to lose 10% of my body weight (9 more lbs) and then get out of the obese BMI category (11 more lbs). Want to do this by the end of February!!
  • Agree on nuts! I used to eat half a bag of cashews thinking I was making a healthy choice until I weighed it once, worked out the enormous amount of calories and fat I was consuming in my “healthy” snack! Urgh. I had to take the bag away from my boyfriend as he was eating and eating and I had to tell him to stop! Haha.…
  • Yeah my boyfriends suggestion on sweet things was “limit yourself to one chocolate bar a week, then you will only break off a small piece every day and save the rest” uhhh no, I’ll scarf the whole thing down in about 0.378 minutes and be grumpy the rest of the week because I have no chocolate. I just don’t buy and keep in…
  • I started at 214, want to get down to 135, so similar goals. Feel free to add me as a friend! Always good to have more support. I’m currently 203 as of this morning, and im 31,
  • Me please!! Just starting out again
  • I was diagnosed with compulsive overeating disorder (or binge eating disorder) a few years ago. And my god I can pile away some food when I go on a binge (think 2 pizzas, a family sized bag of chips, chocolate, a whole pint of ice cream then some candy as well....) it’s shocking and one day I added up my calories after a…
  • Feel free to add me. I’m just starting out (again!) with around 75lbs to lose
  • Me too. Feel free to add me people!
  • This morning I was 204.8lbs, mini goal is to be back in one-derland by feb 1st. Second mini goal is to finish my 30 days plant based, no added sugar, no alcohol days without caving! I had the biggest craving for a Dunkin donut this morning (came out of nowhere!!) and I purposely took a different route home so I didn’t pass…
  • Hi! I also lost 9lbs in about 8 days by being on a plant based diet. Is it fat I’ve lost? No definitely not, it’s probably water. Not to rain on your parade it’s a fantastic start but do not expect to keep that weight loss up. A healthy normal weight loss is 1-2lbs per week, so don’t get discouraged! Saying that,...that’s…
  • I also thought woo meant like “wooo you go girl!” Ooops! Haha. In answer to your question continuing from what everyone else has said, can you lose weight whilst eating whatever you want? Sure. Stick to your calories and yes you will lose weight. Will you be the specimen of optimum health if you’re still eating McDonald’s…
  • I’ve been a big MFP user in the past, have left it, come back to It again. Feel free to add Me as a friend.
  • Feel free to add me as a friend. I am also starting out again as well. For the millionth time. But yeah!
  • One-derland! I’m 6lbs away. It’s a mini goal for a Lot of people I know, but I can’t wait until the scales are having a 1 at the start again! After that it will be to lose 10% of my body weight (13 more lbs), then into the next 180’s. Around the 185lbs mark I know I start to see the physical changes myself so I’m excited…
  • I agree sugar can be enjoyed in moderation. But the majority of people can’t do moderation with sugar. Even on this thread people have been saying 25g a day? That seems really low. Not really. Not in comparison to how much sugar people used to eat in the past. I refer to it as a wagon as I am a compulsive over-eater. I…
  • I’m just around 5’6” and a bit . My goal is 135-140. I’m currently 207. A few years ago I was down to 160 (almost a healthy BMI) but still felt I could lose a fair amount more. This year I will do it!!
  • I am doing a 30 day no added sugar diet. Why? Because I’ve done it before, and it totally changed the way that I ate, it made me avoid most processed foods, as nearly everything has added sugar in it. I cooked every day from scratch, I lost weight, my tastes and cravings changed. I then travelled to the USA for a month and…
  • Went to the cinema today, usually I would grab a soda, chocolate and some popcorn. All my friends had stuff. I had some cashews in my bag.... I ate a handful of those instead. Was very impressed with myself. Additionally yesterday I went out to eat with the boyfriend and some of his friends, I didn’t drink any alcohol (I…
  • That’s an interesting idea. If it doesn’t improve over the next weeks, I’ll consider doing this...
  • Hahahaha. Yeah I was very gassy afterwards, but even after releasing some of said gas (wasn’t a violent gas leak haha!) I feel a lot more comfortable this morning, but even after releasing some of said gas last night, I was still super uncomfortable.
  • Trying to add one more portion of veg to each meal. It really does make a difference!
  • I guess I probably do. I’m pretty unfit currently. That might explain it...?? It’s just weird I’ve never had it before.
  • I think so. I drink around 4 litres a day (or around a gallon for my American friends!) I pee all the damn time haha. I’ve never had this before. I couldn’t even eat properly after my workout because I was so uncomfortable..... it’s starting to get better now but it’s 3 hours since I finished haha.
