  • The hardest part for me right after surgery was the gas pain in my shoulder. Walk alot and as soon as you can. I also got very sick of drinking protein shakes and broth to the point of tears. That being said...looking back it was such a small amount of time in the grand scheme of things that I would do it all again a…
  • I had VSG on 4/27/15 and I am down 80lbs (well almost! Lol) loving my decision to have wls!!
  • Feel free to friend me. I was sleeved on 4/27 and down almost 75 pounds! Loving my decision :)
  • This is a hard one. I think identifying why you are falling back to old habits is essential (fear of success, lack of coping skills,...) I have been there so many times. I think I was comfortable with the way I looked so I gave up...never accounting for how I was feeling. Think of health and happiness when you go to…
  • I hadn't had a period in 3 months prior to surgery (PCOS) and I got it in the hospital. Totally because of surgery. Periods are regular now! Don't worry too much do the best you can!
  • Eating fast won't do it. Eating the wrong things and too much of it will. Watch your carbs and make sure you are getting the water in. Exercise and you can't fail
  • I don't have any advice. But I am so sorry to hear about what you and your sister has experienced.
  • So exciting. Try not to think about the scary stuff. I lost 62 pounds so far in 3 months with my sleeve! It will be soooo worth it!! Good luck!
  • We are all stronger mentally and physically having been brave enough to make the wls decision. The community of people we are now part of understand and support the ups and the downs. I think most of us not only look and feel better but are just stronger yet more sensitive people overall. No one likes a triple threat!…
  • I would say to make sure you are getting fluids in. My nutritionist told me that even though I feel fine that being fully hydrated would make me feel awesome! It may help with your energy.
  • If worrying changed the outcome then I would go on worrying. Lol. I wasted a lot of time worrying about the worst case but honestly it was stupid because the % is so low that it really is a non issue. Just follow the Drs orders after surgery and odds are you will do great! The worst thing for me was the gas in my shoulder.
  • B- over easy egg with applegate turkey bacon tomato red onion and reduced fat sargento pepper jack cheese. L- 2oz ham, 1 oz fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato, balsamic vinegar D- whatever protein my family has with 1/2 cup of low starch veggie
  • There is no standard I have found even among centers of excellece. Go figure. When I was drinking vanilla/chocolate shakes I would add PB2(powdered peanut butter) and that made it better. I would talk to the nutritionist a good doctor would rather you get the protein in than be overly particular about a brand in my…
  • Awesome! You look so happy!
  • I just returned me and my husbands Fitbit charge. I didn't like it. It was bulky on my wrist and my husband and I always had variation in our steps. I am using the fitness app on my phone and ordered an armband for my phone. Thinking of getting a belt clip as well. I can get the same tracking and motivation on my phone and…
  • Prime example of people not thinking before they speak. I am sure she didn't mean that but what a silly thing to say. I get a lot of "oh I know someone who had that surgery and gained all the weight back". My reply is always. Well statistically I have better odds of keeping it off than without it. Numbers don't lie!
  • Good Luck. Walk as much as you can! My worst issue was the gas pain and the minor breakdown from protein shake overload. Had my surgery 4/27 and all of that seems like a distant memory!!
  • Wow you look great! How much have you lost?
  • You should be incredibly proud of yourself for considering this life change. I had VSG on 4/27 and though I am early on I can say that it really has made a difference in not only my weight (down 31 lbs) but my whole outlook towards food and nutrition! Honestly I never considered nutrition in my daily eating. I knew if…
  • I love to have an ounce of mozzarella with ham and tomato and basil with some balsamic vinegar. I made guy fieri Ryder's turkey chili and portioned it out and froze it. Love it! I found Krave jerky and it is great for helping to hit my protein goals. I eat a lot of shrimp too.
  • I have a 14 month old and a husband who loves to eat!! It has been challenging but I try to cook meals that focus on a tasty protein and add carbs for the boys. I am 6 weeks out and down 31 lbs. though the last two weeks have been slow to lose. How much have you lost so far?
  • For those who love peanut butter. Try the PB2 it has hardly any fat or calories. You just mix the powdered PB with some water until you get the consistency you like. I eat two tbsp with half an apple and it is awesome!
  • Wow. What a dramatic change! You look wonderful!
  • I used body fortress which was ok. Adding PB2 helped a lot!!!
  • I like to order shrimp cocktail for dinner when I go out. I know exactly what I am getting. I can easily weigh it on my pocket scale and it is yummy. I also looked for grilled chicken or any grilled protein that seems moist enough. I have only been out a handful of times if that but it has been really much easier then I…
