I find length per stroke a really useful field in the erg data app. We are almost the same height (and age, though that is irrelevant), and I too am mostly body with very short legs. If I am concentrating on technique properly my stroke length is somewhere between 135 and 139 cm. When I start to get distracted by people…

My MHR is 202, as discovered when I wore my heart rate monitor in a sprint on water rowing race. I am 38. I base training zones on HRR and use 5 zones, because that is what my current rowing training plan uses. I haven't been using a HRM for very long. I am finding it useful for some of the near max sessions that I do. In…

My husband and I share a laptop. We both have Garmin devices linked to separate accounts and have never had a problem

I did Ride London 100 at the end of July, and my motivation for riding has somewhat dropped off since. I still commute to work a couple of days a week on the bike, and do errands via bike at the weekends. My only ride for pleasure recently has been the couple of miles I cycled with my 4 year old nephew. I wish I had the…

I'm in the UK, so generally not too cold/icy/snowy. We've had a couple of outings where every splash of water has frozen on contact with the boat, and our sweaty hair has turned to ice. We have competitions somewhere in the country most weekends. A few of the ones on lakes have been cancelled, but the rivers have been ok.…

Urmm, where did the rest of my message go?!
-
Been out on the water Saturday and Sunday come rain or shine over the whole winter

Do you have a rowing club near you?
-
I row on water, and so have a love hate relationship with an erg

As a rower, I do a lot of Z2 cycling to build base fitness. (I am also reading Katherine Graingers autobiography at the moment - it sounds like the British Rowing squad do a lot of cycling) I don't see why it couldn't work the other way round. Maybe not getting out on the water, but you could use an indoor rowing machine.…

Another DNR for me. Rowing training has gone up to 3 sessions per weekend leaving much less time and energy for the bike. I feel like I have sort of fizzled out at the end of this challenge rather than going out with the bang I planned all those months ago. Anyway, onwards to the winter challenge and the motivation I need…

A slightly longer and boozier lunch than planned yesterday and 2 rowing sessions today mean it is a DNR for me

Mine occurred at a junction where the cycle path meets the road and someone in their wisdom has put in a (much too narrow) staggered barrier. For reasons that allude me, although my hands were on my handlebars, I was clearly cycling with my pinky fingers stuck out in the air. I managed to get my little finger caught in the…

A second for the Cannondale CAADX. I too have the 105, (the 2016 version) which I got for a whole pound under the Cyclescheme limit at the start of the year. I love it! I was doing about 20K of cycling a month before I bought it. 6 months on, I am doing 100-150k a week because I just enjoy riding it.

Despite good intentions and lovely weather, it is a DNR for me :-(
-
Rowing training will be stepping up during this, so will probably make 100 km a week at best. I'm in, if there is an appropriate spot in a team for me.

As I have a rowing race this weekend I suspect I have just logged my last ride of Le Tour. It was nice to finish with some sunshine
-
I have a Garmin 1000. As someone who likes to go out and explore on my bike, but has no sense of direction, I really like the round trip routing option (though it does take an age to find a route)
-
I'm in! Will be a couple of weekends when rowing will take priority, but (as soon as I shake this horrible cold) I plan on getting some more km's in during the week
-
Well done to all the winners, and a big thank you to Mark and Jason for the amount of work they have put in to this challenge and the auto magic logging. I'm really glad I stumbled across this group :)

I sold my mountain bike to fund a Garmin 1000. I love it!

Sorry Mark, all up to date now, including my absence for the next couple of days. My wheel is now straight again following my little mishap at the weekend, just waiting or my knee to recover now.

A photo of one of the features on the cycle path on my commute home. Bristol claims to be a cycling city, and whilst it has its fair share of rubbish cycle infrastructure, it has occasional highlights like this. (for those that can't make it out, it is a statue of a giant having a drink, who has a water fountain in his…
