Speaking of schools: In the US 'public schools' are what we in the UK call 'state-run schools'. Public schools here are fee-paying, and these days the term is interchangeable with private schools. We just call them posh schools ;-)

Heh the whole dinner vs lunch thing is a minefield, even within the UK! Northerners tend to have dinner as their midday meal, where us southern softies have lunch. To further complicate it, at school the midday meal is called dinner (served by Dinner Ladies), but as soon as we leave school and join the workforce we have…

Losing weight can help alleviate all those issues, and eating what she enjoys can help OP to achieve the calorie deficit needed to lose weight. OP is already struggling to stay on track, and there's no point in adding more food complications to her plan.
-
That's fine if it suits you, but it doesn't make what @kommodevaran said an oxymoron or mean that someone can't eat what they want.
-
Eating what you want isn't the same as eating as much of it as you want. You could fit those things into your allowance, if you...erm...make allowances for them.
-
Losing weight is 100% calorie deficit, no exercise required.

MFP won't offer below 1200 kcals per day. So if your 2lb per week said 1200 kcals, it would have said the true (not 2lb) loss rate at the bottom of the page and it was probably 1.something lb per week.

Two methods to weigh things like golden syrup:* Put the jar/tin on the scales and press the 'tare' button (or turn it off and on again) so that it reads zero with the jar/tin on. Keep the scale turned on whilst you remove however much you want, then weigh the jar/tin again and the negative number on your scale is the…

I peeped at your diary and it's not reflecting scale use for everything, even in the past 2 days. The chances of most foods weighing a round number, or your golden syrup always weighing 12.5 grams are slim-to-none. Look for entries that are in grams too.
-
Use a trending graph to see how you're doing, not individual scale readings. Trendweight.com (web-based) Happy Scale (iOS) Libra (Android) Our bodyweight fluctuates all the time, but if your logging is accurate and you stay in a deficit you'll lose weight. To help with accurate logging: * Double check your entries in your…

Oh @VintageFeline I am so sorry to hear of your loss :-( You are absolutely right to take time to look after yourself emotionally in my not-so-humble opinion, and you're smart to have a plan to look forward to on 1st Jan. I'm back down 2.8lb this morning, bring on the Cadbury Heroes!

For once I can go to bed safe in the knowledge that a thread I'm interested in will still be here when I wake up (hopefully!) Night all :-)

Brides wear a blue garter (a froufrou circle of material around their thigh), but only one for some reason? What you call suspenders we call braces I think.
-
OMG We had the frog, we kept the Brillo pad in his mouth!
-
Haha those 80s picture jumpers, my mum made me lots of them! We called those dresses with bib and straps 'tunics' when I was at infant school. Suspenders are what women use to hold stockings up! Well, I suppose men can use them for that too if they are so inclined...

Ours are sleeveless and, as @williams969 said, in awful colours!
-
I had Fair Isle ones, but now I wish I'd had a matching owl! We had macrame hanging flower pot holders, which my brothers used for target practice!
-
Ah tank tops are knitted pullovers (sleeveless sweaters) that our mums used to make us wear in the 70s.
-
Yes! Or "that's bobbins".
-
I've not heard 'gotch' before! My granny used to call them her "'foundations". US 'vest' is UK 'waistcoat', and UK 'vest' is US 'wifebeater'. UK 'wifebeater' is a nickname for cheap, strong lager (usually Stella Artois).

That's Michael McIntyre, a comedian I sometimes love and sometimes loathe (even during the same performance).
-
I've got friends in the north of England that call trousers 'pants', but to me 'pants' are underwear.

haha yes! Sorry for confusion but I'm laughing as I imagine their faces when you said it LOL!
-
Yes, but what we call boob tubes you call tube tops.
-
UK Hob = US Stove Oh wait, I might have got that one wrong. We call the burners on top 'hob', and the enclosed bit 'oven'. Stove is a manufacturer who makes both.
-
LOL Thank you Wikipedia, for explaining that Americans call boob tubes 'tube tops'

Langoustine and scampi are interchangeable here. Usually, the only difference is the price :-/

Oh and earlier someone posted on a thread about Bok Choy, which is Pak Choi (or Chinese Cabbage) here.

It took me a while to realise that US 'broil' means 'grill' too.
