  • ::scrolls up to see if OP mentioned being a vampire:: what happens if someone walks after sunrise?
  • @jigglyjones As others have said, the calorie 'burn' includes those used just by existing. Having said that, if your back injury makes you less mobile than even sedentary allows for it's even more important that you calculate your input as precisely as you can, as you may not have the wiggle-room that more active people…
  • You used a coupon and put weight on, stopped using the coupon and started losing again. I see where the blame lies!
  • I wouldn't be able to do it almost every day as I have nutritional needs to meet and a low calorie allowance to meet them with, but if you can spare the calories I don't see why not!
  • I was going to suggest using emisaccess too, but didn't know if every surgery uses it (plus he would need to get a user ID/password from reception first). I always make my appointments through there, it's easier than trying to get through on the phone and I can export it to my Google calendar. I'm lucky, I live in an area…

  • I've never been to McDonalds or Nandos. I've been to Burger King maybe 20 times in my life (and I'm old!), same for KFC. I don't know any other fast food places so can't name them. Except for fish & chips or pie & mash or Chinese...I've definitely been to those a lot  Oh and Dominoes pizza, had some of that once!…
  • There are entries in the food database for blood glucose, or you can create your own in My Foods (please do not share with the database if you create your own as it's cluttered enough as it is!)
  • Yep! Seems odd to me but that doesn't mean it didn't happen... Anyway, OP you don't have to choose to be shamed. Choose to eat what you want to get to your health goals, either with or without your family/friend's support.
  • I'd like to think they do! However, given all the media stuff about fats etc someone is more likely (IMO) to use the words "healthy" or "low-fat" than "calorie", if they were going to comment at all.
  • I just can't imagine those comments in a vacuum. Why would someone mention calories if OP hadn't mentioned them first?
  • OP you've stated what others said, but not what you've said. I wonder if you said "I'm dieting" or "I'm trying to eat healthily" or similar? You don't need to give a reason for what your food choices are, just say "no, thank you" for foods you don't want to eat. Anything else is just inviting comment.
  • Please don't call 999, it's not warranted in this instance and you have other options that you haven't tried yet.
  • And did you ask to speak to the Practice Manager? Or find out where your local walk-in centre is?
  • Hello there! It's great that you're doing something about it if it's making you miserable, well done! The good news is, you don't need to exercise or even walk much to lose weight, you just need to eat less calories than your body burns (and it burns calories all the time, even when you're just watching TV!). Plug your…
  • 1. Put your postcode in here http://www.nhs.uk/Service-Search/Walk-in%20centre/LocationSearch/663 to find your nearest walk in centre. 2. Walk in. Or you can ask to speak to the Practice Manager at your GP's practice and explain that you can't get an appointment but you've lost weight rapidly.
  • Mine does this too! I think that it happens when I change the dish as you did (from plate to bowl), it sometimes randomly tares to the first thing (in this instance, plate), instead of the second one (bowl). I on/off between dishes now, and then tare again.
  • When I was younger I had hypermobility, and it was recommended that I take up swimming to strengthen the muscles around the joints (I'm rubbish at biology so don't know if this is correct, but it's what I was told). My shoulders and thumbs still pop out occasionally, but I know how to put them back.
  • My scales tell me me weight and bodyfat %, and displays a graph to show the trend (of weight). I don't actually pay much attention to this because it bluetooths it to all sorts of apps and graphs so I look there. It also tells me the room temperature, CO2 levels and today's weather forecast, and I take more notice of them.…
  • Agreed. At the beginning I was hoping that she was just sorting out her thoughts and probably didn't have anyone else to say this sort of thing to or get advice from. Now, not so much.
  • There are people who happily consent to this kind of relationship, but consent is key.
  • I wonder if keeping a fatigue diary would be useful? I don't have CFS/ME but I do have a neurological condition which keeps me fatigued most of the time, and my Occupational Therapist put me on a fatigue management programme that involved keeping a diary of what I was doing and how it made me feel (pain/fatigue levels).…
  • Doesn't it tell you where it got those calories from when you click exercise? I've only ever checked on the web so I'm not sure how you reach the info on phones.
  • Ah ok, wasn't sure if that's what you were referring to earlier.
  • @Alex you're aware that we can still see who is a premium member by hovering over the word Member on the web version though, aren't you? A little label pops up that says Premium.
  • I think she's saying what pretty much everyone else says, whilst saying that nobody else says it ;-)
  • I've mentioned this in the past, but if you follow the link from http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1375583-a-message-about-myfitnesspal-s-updated-nutrition-goals to the NIH guideline that it says it's using, the guidelines actually say so I don't know why people/MFP insist on 1200 either. ETA: It amuses…
  • "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". I can only assume Kate Moss is a rubbish cook.
  • I agree. I didn't know it was a myth but I do know that if I ate at my BMR (1505) I'd gain weight as I'm so inactive. I thought it was because the calculators aren't absolutely correct for everyone, much like the calculators for CI, CO or TDEE are just estimates.
