Find something new or different to catch your attention. I always find great deals for classes on groupon, and since I prepaid for them I know I'll stick with it for the whole class package.

The fitbit is just an advanced pedometer and picks up on movement that it assumes are steps. I have a flex and it will sometimes add a few extras during the day if I move my arm too much, but it's not a significant amount....unless it's a constant movement -I once gained 1000+ steps knitting.

I have a cheap Bluetooth set from Amazon...was less than $25 and works great.

My weight problem was not caused by indulging 2 days a year...it's those pesky extra 363 that give me the problems. We're pretty busy on the holidays-cooking, chasing after the kid mob, etc.- so I probably burn more those days then I do on a normal day. Still, I'm not going to go crazy or deny myself anything if I want it.…

I drink the shakes in the morning (formula 1mixed with whey protein) when I need to rush out the door, but I don't follow their plan at all. I calorie count and the shakes are just a means of taking in calories and filling me up in the morning. For me the shakes are a convenience but not a crutch. My friend followed the…

I needed some form of "carrot" to get myself to work out. I started slowly and made myself deals: Coffee is allowed only after I do a short 7min work out. I can only watch The Daily/Nightly Show if I'm walking. I can only change into real pants (non-workout tights) after I do my strength training/classes. After a while it…

Can I count stopping my dog from pulling on the leash is resistance training? My husband and I are tearing down an old jeep. I try not to use the rust penetrator because fighting with the bolts engages my muscles more and swearing at them has got to burn some extra calories. ;)

I am so glad I learned to weigh my food. It is amazing how much food you can cram into a 1cup container if you look at it like an engineer and fill up every conceivable space.

I've done too many to list unfortunately. Atkins worked well, until the carb binge took over and I slaughtered several large chocolate Easter bunnies. I also did Medi Weight Loss for a bit which is basically paying tons of money to be told how to do Atkins (they do stimulant diet pills there too but I didn't get them…

My husband's grandmother makes something like that. They are so good. I use the holidays as an excuse to make my favorite blue cheese/cranberry tarts. I will still make it work with my calories but I only make them twice a year because I will eat nothing but them if they are not deemed for "special occasions".

If you can work it into your allowment, try prebagging the cereal or other things you know you usually tend to pick at. I have to do this with crackers because sometimes I don't want to take out the food scale "in the momement".

If I listen to music it's pop for cardio rock/metal for strength.

When I first started I was on 1290 calories(-2lbs/week), because I also overhauled my diet at the same time, eating large quanties of "healthy" foods seemed overwhelming (compared to eating all my calories with 1 meal at a fast food place as I did before). Once the newness of a new diet wore off I was stuggling to stay…

I am only responsible for feeding me tonight (I usually have a very picky husband and son to feed) so I'm experimenting and trying out this tonight: http://www.twobluelemons.com/2012/02/roasted-butternut-squash-quesadillas.html If it sucks I'll be having Easy Mac

Forever 21 has a nice selection (online as well). I love thier skinny high-waist jeans. So comfy. I usually get them a size smaller than I am because there is enough strech to look good but also motivate me to loose more to look better...plus the price isn't too band to replace them every few months.

It's amazing how simple it really is after years of being bombarded with "quick fixes" and "rules" for years.

You may just be on diet burnout. After a few of months of calorie restrictions I get antsy. I found taking a break and eating at maintenance for a month gave me time to enjoy foods I haven't had for a while while not setting me back. I was able to jump back into the loosing mindset after the break.

Before I got a fitbit from work I used the Misfit App on the pebble watch. You can the the original for under $100.

I sprained my foot in August and I broke my pinky toe on Labor Day....I still get the occasional twinge....but I was back to basically normal in about a month. Just listen to your body. You will feel immediate pain if your feet/toes are still hurt and you push too much. I would definitely take it easy and try to keep off…

If he already has a Nintendo DS there is pedometer that you can get him. http://www.amazon.com/Personal-Trainer-Walking-Nintendo-DS/dp/B001NXCIUS/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1446843501&sr=8-10&keywords=nintendo+ds+pedometer I'm thinking of getting it for my son.

Although knitting/crocheting won't make a huge calorie burn...not removing your fitbit before a marathon yarn session will have crazy "excersize" calories added to MFP.

We host a Thanksgiving Eve party every year. That's usually my night to indulge...but I'm also running around cooking/serving/hosting all night so it evens out. My MIL does "dinner" ridiculously early on turkey day, so I have enough time during the day to be more active if needed. (Although in all honesty I do not enjoy…

It's OK to eat at maintenance once in a while was the best advice for me. Sometimes staying in a deficit can be exhausting and usually leads me to burnout. Taking a month to still count calories but being able to relax a bit for vacations/birthdays/ect helped with the stress and gave me a mental jump when I ate at a…

I don't have 'cheat' foods but I will indulge once in a while without guilt or counting calories...but I also don't eat a weeks worth of calories in that one meal.

Another newbie here. I'm only aiming for 20miles this month. It's not a lot, but besides the fact that I'm new, I'm also recovering from an injury and don't want to push myself too much.

5.5 in 5 weeks is more than 1lb a week which is good progress. If you are weight training you are probably also retaining some water in the muscles.

It can be done...it sucks, but it can be done. I quit July 1st. I use a nicotine replacement and have been doing well. Staying away from smokers helps alot. My worst cravings are when I'm at my parents or even walking in a front enterence with smoke. Keeping a with my calorie count makes the food craving easier because I…

The more I restricted that harder the fall when I stoped. If I cut out carbs, when I stop I eat most of Idoho's crops in a day. This time around I don't restrict anything...just have less of it. If I want fries I have fries...just not all the fries.

If you like working out at night keep at it. I'm a natural night owl but I have to make myself get up early to work out because life just gets in the way to much if I wait until later. My son and I have the same bedtime so I can get up early enough. Although it stinks not having time in the evening to decompress. Onmy work…
