Lot of great-looking recipes here. For all you bumpers or those thinking about bumping, there's a little star at the top of each thread (it shows up on every page, so you don't have to go back to page 1). Highlight that star. Then you can find the thread any time you want to.

I'll second Chocolate Covered Katie. I tried her black bean brownies yesterday and got thumbs up from the guys in the household. (They liked my variation even more. I used 1/2 c Splenda granulated instead of 1/3 c agave, making up the 1/3 cup liquid with coffee concentrate and water.)

Maintain, exercise more.

Wow! Congratulations on the loss! Me, I'm down 70 and now have boobflaps. ... but I can sit on the ground without needing a cane or other assistance to get back up. I sometimes run just because I feel like it. I'm down to 1/3rd of my asthma maintenance dose. I wasn't planning on swimming top less anyway. ;)

I added emojis and some emoticon roses, but the emojis vanished with everything after them. So, roses: @-->-->-- @-->-->-- @-->-->--

Yaaay! for the doing better and avoiding self-harm at a really hard time.

I made and ate brownies for breakfast, had a Belgian waffle with Muenster for lunch, salmon with butter, whole grains with veg and parm, and broc with butter sauce for dinner, snacked on brownies and, from my older brother's package, Moravian cookies, cheese straws and toffee ... and stayed within maintenance. Partly…

<joining the chorus> 1200 is MFP'S minimum for women for good reason. If you're a guy, the minimum is even higher, though I don't know what it is. Either way, it gives you a little slack to play with. Don't beat up on yourself. ☺

Um, skipping from halfway down page 31 to page 45. I've logged food and exercise daily; just didn't have time to get to this thread. I can't believe I spent 90 minutes at the gym last night. Can't claim I spent it all working out. Some was just sweating and panting. But went through the 30-minute express circuit, doing…

Thanks to all for the good wishes for Larry. He was out of the hospital in a few days. After a day on IV antibiotics, they stuck a needle under his eye to drain the swelling and put him on oral abx and a salve while in the hospital, eyedrops after he left. I put in some really long days at the gym after that. And I'm still…

Apologies to all. I've been spending more time walking or at the gym, a couple long days at work, and almost no time online beyond logging. Then today I spent at the ER with Larry, who has a dangerous infection just outside his eye. Orbital cellulitis, it's called. Sounds silly, but ain't. A VA ophthalmology resident came…

apologies to all for missed messages. Working Sundays puts one behind, since others are free. Ah, well. It's a job I like. Walked 12K+ steps, including my lunch 30 minutes (I strode two buildings over, bought a baked chicken breast, baked sweet potato and smothered cabbage, saving half the sweet and the bulk of the chicken…

Walked to the library, sat and read for a while, then to the gym, where I read on the recumbent bike for 40 minutes, and on the treadmill for 30. And, dangit, didn't write down the recumbent stats from the machine. Got credited for a bit over 600 calories. Had KFC grilled breast, big size green beans, regular coleslaw, a…

JanetR - I beg to differ w/ your husband. the pants don't make you look skinny. You ARE slender, and you make the pants look good.

Ina - Welcome! Nice phrasing there in the "3' wide" sentence. Heather - do you imagine one kind of cheese or a variety? :) I don't have cheese cravings, but Wednesday was ambush cheese. And I went to the reception straight from work, so hadn't had supper. "Slowly I began to grow into the kind of person I always wanted to…

Flookbird - I wonder if some of the variation in calories assigned by the tracker for the same number of steps has something to do with speed? More calories/step would make sense if, say, a higher percentage of steps were brisk or even running.

Being lazy. haven't walked. Cso - gorgeous afghan! DJanet - Larry got his head shaved for St. Baldrick's a few years ago and has been shaving Iit himself ever since. I dont have the artistic sense or the coordination to try cutting my own hair. <tipping hat> Michele -rather than cutting the tablecloth, what about taping it…

Got in 13,150 steps, 5000 at the gym. And stayed well in budget, eating back only a handful of the 437 calories MFP awarded for exercise. Got to wanting something in the afternoon, and tried cutting a Quest bar into quarters. One quarter was enough. The rest is in a ziplock in one of my desk drawers. Don't know why I never…

The sedentary &c settings are based, if I remember aright, basically on one's "workday." I have a desk job, which makes me sedentary. If I didn't make myself get moving off the job, I'd have 2000-3000 steps a day. Today I got in 13,150 steps (the last 5000 at the gym and walking home from the gym), and was credited with…

For encouragement, since you (barely) qualify <g>, I recommend the WOMEN AGES 50+ discussion thread. There's a fresh one each month, and the one for August is about to be posted tonight. Find it, bookmark it, and join in. :-D I've been participating since late May, and it's a great bunch of women.

Fiddle - thanks for the recipe! I just bought some soy crumbles, so may try it w that. I'll prolly start w a somewhat smaller vat.

I totally blew Wednesday. Went to a reception for an exhibit I'm writing about and there was this table with six or eight kinds of cheese, and a couple kinds of pate ...

Walked at lunch, going outside to warm up because the a/c was so fierce. Did the short post-work walk, and made 7500 steps, which I've read is sorta the healthy minimum and also got me up to a leftover-pizza level for supper. Other denizens had scarfed the 'za, so had a sorta mix-and-match supper. Since hitting 152 on 7-20…

Got to work 15 mins early, and walked up 10 flights of stairs (up 4, around a hall, up 3,around a hall, up 3 more and then took the elevator), for lunch (with another 6 or 7 flights) and, after work, to the ferry landing, which also has some stairs. Fitbit counted 20 stories, and, for a change, may be right. Lisa - An inch…

Left for the gym (walking) at about noon, got back about 4p (including some downtime and a bit of shopping at the end). Wound up with <1cal/hour. <pouting> That included doing the gym's circuit of machines & steps, and 30 minutes each on the reclining bike and the treadmill. Sweated like the proverbial porcine. Been a bit…

Here's an earlier discussion you may find useful. Lots of links and suggestions, a few of 'em from yours truly. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/32779813/#Comment_32779813

Put it the other way: You still have a long way to go, but you've already come a long way, and you know you can make it the rest of the way.

Went to look for work slacks at Dillard's. Thought I'd looked everywhere on the floor. Then a saleslady asked what I was looking for. I said, "Work slacks in size 12, washable, with pockets." "We have some in the back there," she said, and headed across the floor. Sure enough, they did. She brought me a pair in brown and…

If you gained over the weekend because you overate, just get back on the wagon. Log everything honestly and stay on the credit side of the calorie ledger, and you'll get losing again. If you did just that, day-to-day weight fluctuation is a fact of life. Keep doing it, and the trend will be down. Here's my day-to-day…
