You can lose without working out but a torn ACL means lots of PT either way so.

I have -but really my goal was just to maintain - and that's been successful. I had a torn ACL, tears to MCL, LCL and meniscus and a tibia fracture. Surgery at the end of July. My knee feels pretty good at this point but still working on some strengthening before I can or do cutting sports like skiing. I'm just now…

Best thing I did before ACL reconstruction was lots of strengthening! Good luck!

I am just 2 months post ACL repair. My PT has given me tons of exercises that I could do at different stages of recovery. Lots of time on a stationary bike but also strength training. Connect with a PT and they will get you set up for a good and safe recovery.

Check with your doc and PT but I torn my ACL and had surgery - lots of cycling and weightlifting (all with PT supervision)

It gets better! I'm 4.5 weeks post surgery and am moving around pretty well - back to the gym with limitations. Post surgery the nerve block was really helpful with pain for me. Getting out of surgery sucked though.

I tore my ACL in April and had surgery 2.5 weeks ago. I worked out and tracked what I was eating before and am really glad I did the strength training that I did. Cardio was hard but I think stationary bike and elliptical were best for me. Why so long until surgery?

I tore my ACL in April and just had reconstruction last week. Feel free to add me if you want a buddy who's doing the same thing. I would really suggest making the apt with the physical therapist. I did a bunch of strength training before surgery and I think it was really worth it. Good luck!

ACL surgery after a fall skiing in April + rehab... not as much fun but I like reading the rest of yours.

I love diet soda - but I don't think its the healthiest option to drink ALL the time. So I keep a water bottle at my desk - I drink more with ice water to I fill it with ice at work. I don't buy soda for the house anymore and try to limit to one glass when Im out to dinner. I'm not prefect and sometime I run to the corner…

Ha so true! It took a little while for my husband to really understand my challenges with my weight (long after we passed the farting mark). But now he's on board with it and willing to put up with my food quirks.

Feel free to add me. My diary is open to friends.

I recently torn my ACL as well. I really liked The Diet Fix by Yoni Freedhoff as a resource. Good luck!

Torn my right ACL in April and partial MCL, meniscus and fractured tibia. Looking at surgery in July I think... But am able to work out carefully now. I have a bit of instability still.
