I need to get creative with my meat & veggies!

@ccrdragon thanks! Finding keto recipes without the dairy has not been easy! @janejellyroll the "plan" is low fat but I still eat healthy fats like avocado and olive or avocado oil. I'm just not going out of my way to load up on fat. Plus with keto they always say, "fat is a lever". After doing keto for quite some time I…

I did vegan keto in February. Ate lots of Asian foods! Stir Frys, Thai Curry, Indian (cauliflower masala is a favorite), zoodles with a sauce made from grilled peppers and onions and just a couple San Marzano tomatoes. I didn't have trouble with the fats, but protein was hard to come by. I ate loads of broccoli in my…

What everyone else said, log it all. The way I do it when I cook a family meal like you're describing is to enter everything as a recipe. Then I weigh it all and weigh my portion. It's not perfect but in that situation it's as close as you can get and you'll definitely be in the ballpark.

Honestly, based off of your example and my own personal experience... you're not eating enough good fat. I could eat 1000 calories worth of fruit and still be hungry or my lunch today for example was 1oz cheddar cheese, 1/2 avocado, hard boiled egg, 1 medium tomato and 4 wasa crackers. This was approximately 1/3 of my…

Deeeelicious calories! :)

Logging is as much a way of life as landscaping or gardening or tree pruning may be.

Actually it's highly unlikely that they will ever be under. Manufacturers are required to have at least 99% of the stated weight in a package which means they are more than likely to err on the side of being over.

I would record 150 because it says a serving is one bun. I'm relatively pissed at the company now that they can say the serving size is 1 bun (48 grams) when they must KNOW that each bun weighs considerably more at 56 grams. What if I didn't weigh it? I would have consumed 25 more calories than I had intended or wanted.
-
LOL well we actually made "big mac's" for dinner tonight which were AMAZING btw and I had to cut part of another bun off, that is why I even bothered to weigh the bun to begin with! So in total I ate 1.5 servings of bun even though if I went by the package it would have been more like 1.25. Damn it! More calories than I…

It really pisses me off because I thought I was buying 150 calorie buns not 175!
-
Oh I'm not worried about it. I just found it sort of funny.

Based on the fact that you are just writing your food in a notebook and have not mentioned weighing EVERYTHING with a scale, it is highly likely that you are eating more calories than you think. Try eating only your base calories and not eating back any of your exercise calories (or no more than 1/4 if you are truly…

I just want to clarify. Your minimum in the above scenario is 1500cal and your max is 2500cal. So anything between 1500 and 2500 is acceptable but if you are not hungry you don't need to eat more than the 1500.
-
You should always eat at least your base calories. Say MFP tells you to eat 1500cal/day, then you do 20k steps and your fitbit says you burned 2000cal. You need to eat at least the 1500 and no more than half of the calories burned. All calorie counters are notorious for over estimating calories burned and if you're not…

As a woman I will suggest buying dresses. There is a lot of room for losing (or gaining :-/) so you can buy something that will look good now and 20 pounds from now. Whatever you do, do NOT buy clothes that are a little tight now assuming you will lose weight and fit into them soon. All that will do is make you feel bad…

Honestly it sounds like you need to start weighing your food and entering EVERY SINGLE THING into MFP. It's pretty basic. You are exercising a lot and most people/calorie counters/etc overestimate the number of calories burned. Without logging and weighing your food you are guaranteed to underestimate the number of…

You want to be at or close (just under/just over) to your calorie goal.

I can't believe no one has even mentioned the fact that if you eat a more suitable/substantial breakfast you'll be less hungry at lunch time and will be satisfied with fewer calories. Try having 300-400 calories for breakfast and see what a difference it makes. (Provided it includes protein, fiber & fat)

As long as your consumed calories are well above 1200 your calories burned should not be an issue. Your rate of loss is perfectly reasonable. If you were say, losing 4-5 pounds per week I'd be concerned. Keep it up and let yourself eat back some of those calories on occasion ;-)

Why does more protein mean protein shakes? Eggs, meat, low fat dairy, etc. are all great sources of protein as are beans and legumes.

It's a reference to a TV show. Specifically Doctor Who.

I got the Doctor Who reference...

I giggled.
