It's hard not to think of blood sugar results as a report card....it's just feedback about control. Don't take it like you failed or something...it's just how you are doing now. Everyone could make improvements in some areas and there may be tweaks needed for your medication as well. I think you are new at looking after…

Take care Judy! If there is no reason like too many carbs etc and you don't feel good, maybe call the doctors office....you have been through a lot and your body under stress.

Hi Jessica and Kim! Welcome! I was diagnosed April 2015 and probably like you was completely overwhelmed but don't be too scared. You just need to get fit, eat right and if you need to..lose some weight. One of the most comforting things the doctor said to me when I was diagnosed and crying in the examining room was that…

I found Solo energy bars at the health food store and they are super with low glycemic response..they have a whole think about stabilizing blood sugar on their website. I tried the chocolate mocha and it was divine. A great ratio of carbs/fat/fibre/protein!!!

In our diabetic class when I first got diagnosed, the nurse said that stress and lack of proper sleep will raise your sugar..also if you are sick, infection, too hot and I forget what else...seems it's easily affected. I am so sorry for your loss...hang in there. MFP is a very supportive place.

Honestly everyone is different and their body reacts uniquely. I would go to an independent dietician because they are not going to preach on thing only..they do many diets of diets. It would be a good starting point and you can tweek it when you are comfortable. Just my opinion. Talk to your doctor..perhaps ask for a…

I think it's helpful especially if you are going out for a meal. I don't think it would work if you eat differently like LCHF...if you eat all food groups then I would say it's good. I have used it when at a BBQ or a restaurant or at a friend's place.
