  • Do you have any particular habits you are trying to change? I had success doing a whole30 that helped me rest my eating habits and discover my triggers as well as foods that don't make me feel well. Have been doing low carb (very little grains or sugar) since then fairly easily. For me, getting everything out of my system…
  • Oh wow! I never knew that MFP replaced the F word with *kitten*! I really thought there were just a lot of "oh shucks, golly gee" cutesy posters on here.
  • Size is irrelevant to eating disorders. That's also irrelevant to this thread. I highly recommend the book "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a *kitten*." Seriously, it's life changing. Rude or not, a comment about your lunch shouldn't have this much power over you.
  • Oh maybe. That would make sense. Thank you!
  • So much to think about. Thank you all for the input. Have struggled so much in the last with emotional eating and have come a long way. Obviously, still have issues to work through. Eating back calories shouldn't trigger fear but it does. Awareness is the first step right? Thanks for calling me out.
  • That makes me so uncomfortable to think about. Slightly panicky really. It's a good plan though. Maybe I could do it slowly like eating back 1/4 one day a week, then two days a week, and work up from there. That could help normalize it while I watch how it affects me. That shouldn't instantly pile on pounds. Thank you!
  • That's a good question! My immediate thought was that I don't trust that I have earned them. That eating them back would be overeating and I'll stop losing. You gave me something to think about. Thank you!
  • I haven't found this to be true. Carbs and sweets are major triggers for me and make it too hard for me to stay within my calorie goal. In an ideal world, sure, all calories are equal. In my world? A snickers bar and a bowl of ice-cream that equals my calorie goal isn't sustainable. Junky, processed foods can only be a…
  • One day I'm going to hit a squirrel and it's going to devastate me.
  • I would recommend fruit flavored sparkling water/seltzer that doesn't have any other sweeteners like Polar or Le Croix. If you have a wegman's around, their house brand is my personal favorite. A lot of people around here like Spindrift. It contains a small amount of juice but they seem to only be about 5 calories a can.…
  • What worked for me was doing Whole30. It's pretty extreme but it definitely changed my palette. I still love sugar but I don't crave it like I use to. The best result for me was that I finally gave up soda. It's been over a year. I've had one Dr Pepper that I didn't even finish. I tried a Diet Dr Pepper (which was my…
  • I would but my family has already eaten half the bag. I'm going to have four and put down the full serving. I haven't had chocolate in several months and hate guessing...especially if I could have another!
  • Weighing raw is the most accurate. This doesn't work well for me as our family meals usually contain slices or portions of a larger piece of meat. If I'm making individual steaks, weighing raw is easy but not so much if I'm preparing a pork tenderloin. I know there are a lot of die-hard measurers out there but for me,…
  • Hmm. That's fair. I did a low carb diet ten years ago and it was so easy to drop those 15lbs. I wasn't counting calories back back then so I don't have that as a reference. While the weight came off easily, it wasn't a sustainable diet. Sustainable is my goal. It's very possible that low carb days would result in less…
  • @claywalton - My BIL has plantar fasciitis pretty bad and it kills him to walk. He was fitted for new shoes but the thing that helped him the most for walking was KT Tape. He swears by it. He can barely walk a mile without it and if he tries, he ends up with a swollen flareup. He has found biking to be easier on his foot.…
