KJ – I must live in a cave. I did not even know that someone had written a fourth “girl” book. I loved the trilogy by Stieg Larsson. I have added it to my reading list. Beth – HAPPY BIRTHDAY! DJ – Congrats on passing by that funnel cake! That is an NSV for sure. Melanie – HIIT or high intensity interval training is pretty…

Michelle - My FIL has dementia too but just not as progressed. He has good days and bad days. He sometimes gets mad at my MIL because she isn't talking and he just doesn't understand why. He was told that she is near the end and he seemed to understand at the time, but he probably didn't remember the conversation the next…

Lillian – The grandbabies are beautiful! Lisa – Happy that you found an RV that will work for you. KarenE – The fact that you are building muscle may explain the lack of weight loss. Muscle weighs more than fat. Start looking for some non-scale victories (NSV’s). Are your clothes starting to feel looser? Do you have more…

Today, we went to visit my in-laws. Both suffer from dementia but my MIL’s is much more progressed. The doctor says she is near the end. It could be tomorrow or it could be a month or more from now. Her brain is simply no longer communicating with her body. She has not spoken for several months. A couple of months ago,…

Well, by golly, I believe I have caught up for now. Lisa – Congrats on getting everything moved. Hope things turn out will with the RV search. Katla – Looks like those elephant ears may be a treat worth the calories. My hubby’s favorite fair treat are the funnel cakes. Similar to the elephant ears, they are basically fried…

Catching up… Just to the bottom of page 3. Lisa – {{{hugs}}} I am sure that leaving Daisy was hard, but you did a good thing to let her live where she is comfortable and stress-free. That was a very unselfish act. On the insurance, I worked with COBRA insurance years ago. If my memory serves me correctly, you have an…

Back home, unpacked, and ready to sleep in my own bed. It was a great vacation. We rented a boat and explored the lake, we picked fresh blueberries and blackberries at a local farm, we rode bikes through Dogwood Canyon, and much more. I will try to post pics later. No time to read or reply to posts but will also try to…

<3 Packing up tonight and heading home tomorrow. It has been a great week. Weather has been hot and sunny all week but now it is storming and there are flash flood warnings in the area. We are high enough up so we are safe. Saturday we turn around and get back in the car to visit MIL. You may remember that she is suffering…

Caught up but not much time to post now... Re: Can't seem to send you a message from my phone but I sent you a friend request. If that doesn't work, I'll send you a message when I am back home. Melanie - lots of reasons you may not lose for a week... Stress, hormones, retaining water... If you are accurately tracking your…

Re: Count me in for those crock pot recipes. I love my crock pot - all 5 of them. Cheri - So happy that you are enjoying your time in Texas. Sounds like the job at TX A&M is going to be a great match! And just saw you signed a lease. Yea! It is a beautiful house. Found a somewhat flat place to walk/run this morning by the…

Hi everyone - played a little tennis, rode on peddle boats and spent some time today at the pool. It was nice and relaxing. Tomorrow I will walk in the morning and the we are heading into town for a little shopping. Chris- I've had my share of jobs that eat into your personal life. In my experience, they will keep hoping…

Hi All Had a good day today. Walked this morning, spent some time at the pool, a did some exploring around town to figure out where various things are located. Found a marina with reasonable rental prices so will rent a boat sometime this week. Found a great little hole in the wall restaurant tonight with live music. One…

Well, we arrived safely down at Table Rock Lake. I am now 7 hours closer to JanerR but still too far north to bop over and say hello. Hubby is snoring softly next to me as I catch up on your posts. Thinking of you all. We explored the resort a bit when we arrived. It is quite hilly here and lots of stairs so I will get my…

Catching up from my phone and did not take notes so now I've forgotten everyone I wanted to respond to. Welcome back Vicki! Good luck on getting the cancer removed from your arm! Please let us know how it goes. I will be thinking of you on Monday. Went to the gym this morning and did a quick 30 minutes on the treadmill…

All caught up (for now). :) Charleen in CO – I think that building in mini-goals is a great idea but you can make the rewards something non-food based. Also, remember to reward those non-scale victories as well – losing inches, losing a pant size, reaching a stretch exercise goal, etc. And I agree with everyone who said to…

Hi Ladies, Catching up after being offline all weekend. Not that it was a super busy weekend, I just was enjoying being unplugged for a couple of days. Desanders68 – Welcome! I know you could setup a separate MFP profile for your son, but that requires logging in and out of the two accounts if you are the one tracking for…

I've got the Fitbit Blaze too. Using the Bed Bath & Beyond coupon on it is a great idea. Besides, steps, sleep and heartbeat, you can tell it what kind of exercise you are doing (treadmill, weights, etc.) and it does also count flights of stairs. And if you are into cool, techy gadgets, you can also set it up to notify you…

Joyce – “You all say Charlie and I must be doing OK. We are a mess.” Given all that you are going through, I think you are doing a fabulous! <3 Tracy – Welcome! I had to look up ketogenic diet. I was guessing it had something to do with getting your body into ketosis, but was not sure. Glad to hear that this seems to be…

I know it is hard but they all have to learn life lessons on their own. If she runs out of personal money during college, you can be comfortable knowing you have helped her with the necessities and she may have to get a part-time job and learn to balance work and studies. You are being a good mother. Linda/IA

Remember this when you are starting to feel like you are letting everyone else take priority over you... Taking care of you is NOT a selfish move. Taking care of yourself makes you a stronger person so that you can be there for the others in your life that you care about.

Sorry in advance for the long post. I’ve been reading and taking notes throughout the day today and just finally had time to catch up and post. Re – I also work for a major bank, so I completely understand what you mean about Big Brother blocking many sites. I work in technology so I get it, but it sure was nice when I…

Becca - I couldn't tell from your post if your birthday is today, just past, or coming up soon, but this is for you whatever...

Becca – I am so sorry the surgery was not successful, but I am glad to hear that your hubby is less jaundice and no longer itchy. At least, that is some progress. Prayers will continue to be sent your way. You are such a strong woman and so supportive of your husband and entire family. Don’t worry about the scale right…

I feel so out of shape today! I have been trying to do a C25K program because I promised my daughters last year that I would run the color run with them this summer. So, I am only on week 3 which means I have a segment where I should be running for 3 minutes. I was able to do this on the treadmill at a pretty slow pace.…

Welcome! My birthday is tomorrow as well, so I feel we must be soul sisters. I've been struggling this year as well. I look back and I am down 12 lbs since the beginning of the year but that is just about 2 lbs per month and I'd like to lose more. Re suggested weight training and I agree with that suggestion. Muscle burns…
