  • Awesome cheesiness! I like Flo Rida "I get a good feeling"
  • Phenomenal job taking the slow and steady route to better health, and congratulations for keeping it off.
  • As long as you don't have a medical issue that prevents you from it, try adding some body weight strength exercises and then progress to adding weight when you're ready. This will help you hold onto more muscle when you drop into such a deficit. Adding some squats and lunges and maybe some planks and dips can be done when…
  • Hi, welcome back. My diary is open and I love a busy news feed. I'll send you a request.
  • That's a terrific loss so far. Good for you for taking back control of your eating. Weight loss is not a linear process, there will be ups and downs. It's important to remember that you just have to keep going and you will get there. I'll send a friend request.
  • Welcome aboard! I think you'll like it here. The message boards are full of great info and very supportive people. And sometimes just some great, sarcastic entertainment. Best of luck!!
  • Remember that the fiber in veg and other foods helps to balance out your carbs, subtract your fiber from your total grams to get your net carbs.
  • @jm216 I do have a speech, as a matter of fact (lol) I would like to thank the MFP Family for all of their support. I could not have reached this milestone without all the love, understanding, prodding, trolling and sarcasm that I find here on the message boards every day. ;) :p <3
  • I've just recently switched from PF to Anytime Fitness. I was simply ready to have more options for strength training and classes. As a place to start out, or get in extra cardio it's great. Enjoy!
  • I just got back to a low carb/high fat approach this week. I followed Atkins several years ago but didn't worry about portion control so it wasn't sustainable. This time I am being a little more relaxed about carbs but also counting calories. You may want to try going to your goals and manually adjusting your macros so…
  • That sounds like salt intake and fluid retention in your muscles. Try to be careful about packaged foods and added salt in your own cooking and while eating out. Drink plenty of water and avoid sports drinks. It sounds like you get more than enough electrolytes from your diet without supplementing.
  • I DID IT!!!!! 199.6lbs as of this morning. I am so excited!!
  • You can get coconut oil that has been refined so you won't get the coconut flavor. It works great with anything. The unrefined oil that still has the coconut flavor is delicious with chicken, fish and veggies.
  • That's a great start. Slow and steady is the ideal way to lose. It may not feel that way while you're doing it, of course. I have hypothyroid and PCOS. I find I have to stay away from gluten and dairy. I also do much better when I get regular exercise, especially strength training. You don't have to spend hours in the gym,…
  • I confess I spend about half of my day lurking in the chat rooms, instead of working. And last week I ate donuts and bakery muffins almost ever day. I couldn't stop myself. I have a gluten sensitivity so I had joint pain and a migraine by the end of the week but they tasted soooooooo good. I ate them in the car on the way…
  • Hi, congratulations on your baby and deciding to stay healthy. Just a quick question....are you breastfeeding? If so, you want to be sure to account for the extra calories your body needs to produce enough food for your baby. There is an entry in the food database for breastfeeding, you can use that to help keep track in…
  • Yup, I've ghosted a few people. There are only so many times you can have the same conversation about the same problem in their life and give them the same advice. If they aren't willing to actually move forward I need to walk away.

  • Welcome back! Great job catching yourself after 5 lbs and recommiting to your health.
  • http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat Take a look at this conversation. At this point I think recomposition would probably be a good idea for you. I wouldn't say that L-Carnitine will hurt you, at all, but I don't think it'll help in the way you're…
  • I think it's important to let her know that the comment didn't come out the way she intended. Rather than being confrontational say something like "I know you didn't mean to sound like you don't support me, but that is how that comment sounded". It's important that we all let people know when they say things that hurt us.…
  • I drink them every once in a while but I would caution that they do contain some sodium so maybe make sure you drink a little extra water in between. That's the biggest concern for me.
  • Congratulations on getting into the '100lbs lost' club. And thank you for sharing. It has taken me about 14 months to lose 50 lbs and I have had to come to terms with the fact that it's going to take more time than I would like, but it's going to happen because I have also chosen to live. Keep going, you're awesome!!
  • I agree, I have found YouTube to have a great variety of exercise and health related information. You may have to weed out the 'woo woo' but overall it's very helpful. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

  • Hi, I'm down 50 with another 50 or more to go. It's taken me about 14 months so far. Would love to offer support.
  • I have been eating too much salt and a few too many carbs this week. Because of this I am up a little due to water retention. I know my calorie counts have been reasonable overall. Starting tomorrow (because I am having tater tots tonight with dinner, lol) I am going to be more careful with my salt and carb intake. I am…
  • Seems to me like you have a great sense of humor. Just the kind of friend I like to have. I'll send you a request.
  • I would agree with the previous posts. You don't have a great deal of weight to lose so adjust your goal to .5lb/wk. It will be easier to enter maintenance that way. Also, eating back 50-75% of your estimated calorie burn is a good goal.
  • My husband has been incredibly supportive of my need to be healthier and improve my fitness. He has never made me choose between getting in a workout and going out. I may make adjustments to my workout schedule but I am committed to 5 days a week. He has recently started working out again and goes to a different gym and…
  • You would be amazed at what sodium can do to your weight from day to day. I like to weigh myself daily to get an idea of how I react to certain foods. I'm glad you were back down in 3 days. Some weeks it takes me a little longer. This week I've been eating too much salt for most of the week. Not looking pretty on the…
  • I have hypothyroid, diagnosed when I was 8 years old. I notice that I retain water very easily and both my sister and I are gluten intolerant, she also has hypo and was diagnosed about 10 years ago.
