  • My loss has slowed down from 2 lb a week to 1 lb a week. I have reduced calories now with 1400 a day and I am continuing to exercise every day but don't eat the calories back, hope we find a way to move forward
  • Build up to it maybe try a programme such as C25K. I am on week 2 and can't imagine just running for 30 mins straight! Wd cause injury, perhaps even kill me
  • When I started my goal was 1500 and I wanted to lose 1 lb a week. I e revise everyday but done eat extra. I have actually lost 12 lb I. 7 weeks (2 a week but 1 lb for last 2 weeks)! Going to try reducing my daily calories to see if I can lose 2 lb again, never given 1200, not sure I could manage that
  • I get 1500 daily calories which is enough for me so I don't eat additional calories for exercise. I have been on MFP for 6 weeks now with a goal of losing 1 lb a week but have lost 11 lbs. as I think it is working for me, I would say no but I am not hungry so I will keep going as I am
  • I'm not sure how to track it apart from entering number of minutes running plus number of minutes brisk walking. I was disappointed that it was so few calories burned because it was 30 mins and I felt it was strenuous. I start week 2, day 1 tomorrow! I chose the running app because my cycling had caused a problem with my…
  • Sent u a friend request n message, we can maybe support each other?
  • I agree with the really helpful comments above. I am 175 lbs currently with 30 lbs to lose and I am 51. I have been exercising just 2 months with walking and cycling. Started C25K this week (5 mins brisk walking, 1 min jogging, 1 1/2 walking x 8). It didn't feel impossible but very hard and I had to sit down when I got…
  • I agree that starting slowly is best. Walking is free and you can easily see your calories burned. Cycling is reasonably low impact but start with short rides (injured my hand by going over the top) and there are programmes that slowly build running fitness (C25K for example) that mix brisk walking with short bursts of…
  • Used to drink diet soda every day, now drink no added sugar squash. Will allow soda but only when I am out having a meal! Just for a naughty treat, otherwise none
  • Substituted lunch for fruit to allow more calories for my minted lamb chops and chips later - no pain no gain LOL
  • I prefer a small breakfast and then I plan what I want for dinner including meat, potato and vegetables plus pudding. I then enter my cups of tea for the day (I use half sugar), then see what's left and plan lunch - could just b fruit if I have a high calorie dinner planned - or a salad! Don't eat snacks as I feel full…
  • Thanks for the tips, will keep going x
  • Thanks for sharing ur experience. I have just bought a new bike and a couple of weeks in, my hand is weak and i think putting too much pressure when riding, lost my confidence because I was building distance and speed nicely on the bike. So just taking it easy and cycling a little to see if I can improve with padded gloves…
  • Very slow, just jogging wouldn't really call my effort running so far!
  • Thanks! I have been active for around 2 months now so it took me by surprise that day 1 of C25K was hard. I was still breathing well but just felt very tired when I got home. Still want to cycle but have some nerve damage in my hand so allowing that to recover. Need a good calorie burni
  • I already went from obese to overweight n love a challenge, bring it on xx
  • Can't believe I have done my 130 miles in July. Trouble is, my hand has an injury from leaning too hard and not wearing gloves, going to rest for a few days and move in other ways, missing my bike though!
  • I have 1500 daily calories which is enough for me to feel full. I exercise everyday but don't eat those calories back, I have been using MFP for 5 weeks and have lost 10 lbs so I am happy I am being healthy but will watch my losses to make sure I shouldn't eat some back
  • Sounds like we r all getting out and about. I did a 20 mile ride yesterday, no pins n needles in my hand but my right hand now feels weak, could I have damaged a nerve? Just going to keep it moving n hope it recovers
  • WW can work for some people and I lost 28 lbs with them but when you don't lose it makes no sense because they say so many foods are zero points and so I ate a lot of fruit while on WW. I prefer to know how many calories are in all food, then I can make wise choices for myself. Plus educationally I did not feel I was…
  • That's brilliant! I lost 2 lbs again this week and am sure my bike is helping me! I am currently doing about 30 miles a week but it gets easier all the time. Struggle to not go out, it's addictive!
  • LOL! I can't imagine touring! Must be fun especially if u can eat chocolate! I am currently using cycling to help me burn calories and lose weight! I have 42 lbs to lose and it is currently coming off at 2 lbs a week which is good. I started off with short rides but when I got my new hybrid bike, the gears made it possible…
  • Thanks I will take a look, not sure I could call myself an endurance cyclist though, just trying to get fit and my bike is helping me! X
  • I use my daily calorie goal of 1500 but leave the exercise calories. Have lost 9 lbs in 4 weeks (and my weekly loss goal is 1 lb)! So in my experience, best not to use them if ur goal is weight loss
  • Well done for riding for an hour! Have u tried cycling round your area? It is great fun and interesting to see your neighbourhood at a slower pace!
  • To be following an 1100 a day calorie goal is not recommended by anyone here, 1200 is a minimum for health maintenance. I have 1500 a day and I am losing 2 lbs a week and I have 42 lbs to lose, I would b seriously struggling with your goal xx
  • WW is an effective programme that can work but I changed to MFP as I wanted to understand more about food and calories so I could feel in control and educate myself. Free items are not zero calorie so I prefer to include fruit and vegetables into my diet knowing what they represent rather than as a zero food. Many of the…
  • I salute ur dedication but who set up an 1100 calorie for you. I have 42 lbs to lose and want to lose 1 lb a week and MFP set me 1500 calories a day. I stick to this and I am satisfied and lost 9 lbs in 4 weeks. I exercise but never eat these back and I am worried that you are being very hard on yourself. What is ur goal…
  • I am just a beginner and never set a distance goal before. So far, I have done 41 miles, so guess I cd set a goal of doing 130 like u and that will give me an aim. My knee is a little stiff as one day I pushed up my speed and another did my longest distance of 15 miles (took me 2 days to get over that)! If I set a steady…
