  • I really don't think it is a good idea based upon your current workouts. If you start lifting weights I'd say think about using it after your gains plateau.
  • What kind of workout? Creating is good for weightlifting, not so good for running.
  • There are people who walk them, so fitness is really a matter of what you want, you should be able to finish. What surprised me is how hard the crawls were, and they would have been infinitely easier with padding on my knees. Clothing is really key. You will have grit everywhere. Ideally you will have clothing you can…

  • try a month with 6, and then a month with 12 and see if there is a difference. People, like me, can tell you any kind of crap on the internet. Even if we sincerely believe it, it won't make it true, or true for you. What will be true is what you have experienced. Here is my experience. When I was young I couldn't put on…

  • Size isn't the determinant of speed, but yeah your speed is fine...unless you want to run faster. If you want to run faster you absolutely can, but you have to train for it. I'm in that boat. Right now I'm 10 minute-ish. I want to be faster. I AM going to run faster.
  • Something called fitness buddy looks interesting. Good question, I only have cardio apps.

  • Mio makes some good options for you, Google or check Amazon to find out more.
  • Be sure to have some energy gel like Gu My first long ride I bonked. Someone gave me a gel and I was back from the dead.
  • Do what you can, do it the best that you can. Get that wanting validation crap out of your head. These people aren't going to make you all better when you fall into a cycle of selling yourself short. It's your life, own it.
  • GARMIN makes an ANT+ temperature sensor that works with a lot of devices. It has the added advantage that you can locate it out of direct sunlight or away from skin more easily. I have a Garmin fenix3 with built in temperature sensor, but the readout is a hybrid between skin temp and ambient temp. I personally haven't…
  • I missed the memo. I've found it highly useful for running and cycling myself and would have thought it a highly useful gauge of exercise intensity for intervals. Can you get me up to speed or share the source? I could see the "fat burning zone" of low intensity exercise possibly being junk but not HR training overall.…
  • I have never known anyone who lowered their dose based upon exercise, but exercise is associated with feeling better and having more energy in general.
  • That advice your would have you doing a death march by Mile 16. She might be a frenemy. Definitely unorthodox advice. Check sites like runners world and cool running. I think both have forums where you can find help and support as well.
  • I think the key training run would be the long run rather than intervals. In fact interval training might net you comparatively little gain. There are many free training programs out there that will give you specific training per day based upon your goal and current ability. There is an app called run trainer that goes…
  • I like popcorn and diet coke at the movies but it's more about enjoying the movie than health.
  • +1 body weight Add running
  • Cortisol, the stress hormone is your enemy. Make sure you get enough sleep, avoid anxiety, limit cardio to 45 minute sessions, favor intervals over long steady state pace and do lifts that recruit a lot of big muscles at once. Avoid eating large amounts of food at once, go for 300-400 cals per feed, spreading your needed…
  • Glad you started this thread, mine doesn't sync either
  • My OCD would say 1006 to a cool 20k fortunately it would be overridden by my profound love of sleep
  • Fenix 3 is pretty badass but the price is steep
  • Nike pro combat have a looser fit than most. They aren't a true compression short according to my running store, but prevent chafing.
  • Could those compression leggings help? I've had peripheral numbness in my hands but mine is a nerve issue not triggered by running. Good luck I hope you get it sorted out soon
  • I highly recommend compression shorts.
  • I've been told the cracking and popping noises are ok so long as it's not painful...I hope that's right for both our sakes
  • With the BIA type units you get a pretty good read so long as you take the reading at the same time of day. Like first thing in the morning after you go to the bathroom...that will help standardize your reading. You will notice the bf% will vary significantly over the course of the day. I use a Fitbit Auria scale and it's…
  • Map my ride/run/fitness and endomondo are both owned by under armor which owns myfitnesspal i'd expect essy integration with these even when updates and new features roll out in the future. I use map my run and like it, but I go the other way and just use MFP to input calories into it Edit: if you go with map my fitness…
  • You could buy online from a site like zappos that has free no question returns, using the runners world guide to help choose. Although you got a ton of replies saying go to a running store I'd bet most runners have never gotten a gait analysis done. I know I haven't.
