@KrisM111, I am having the issue of pants being loose in areas (like my butt) but still fitting around my waist. So I have a saggy bottom look going on right now, which I hate. I have also bought smaller blouses that fit great everywhere except they are tight on my biceps. Not a bad problem to have, I suppose. :)

It's never too late to start something that is so great for you. I turned 30 this year and I decided I wanted to tackle this head on before it becomes too difficult to lose it. My father had open heart surgery at the end of May (he's 50) and I swore that wasn't going to be me.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all have a great week ahead. This week I am committing to five full days in the gym, ideally Monday to Friday. I started the day off strong with cardio and a training session. My weekends are busy with my brother in law visiting so I want to make sure I am getting my workouts in during the…

@KrisM111, my husband's family is in south India, but thankfully not Chennai where all of the flooding is happening. Bangalore has been getting a lot of rain but it's better equipped to handle the run off. My assistant is from Chennai though and she hasn't heard from her parents in a few days. She's very worried.…

Happy Friday everyone! I am feeling great today and am so proud of myself. I was up at 4:40am and at the gym by 5:15. I did 45 minutes of elliptical and burned 541 calories! I actually got some good sleep last night so I feel refreshed as well. My weight hasn't budged either and I am trying not to get hung up on it. I feel…

@livingyoung28 - don't be too hard on yourself. Just acknowledging that you know you are emotionally eating is a step in the right direction. Good job on the exercise! Also, one thing I have been trying to work on is the concept of "there are no good/bad foods. There is just food." There are some foods that are better for…

@KrisM111 - I am with you on not liking to watch tv while I workout. I went ahead and invested in PandoraOne so it doesn't have any commercials. I use it on my cell phone and access the gym's WiFi. Today was the third day I did weights this week since Sunday! I made my goal! :) Next goal this week is to continue logging…

I took a day off from the gym today because I am so sore from two days of consecutive workouts. My trainer kicked my butt (and abs) yesterday and am feeling it today. I have a session tomorrow at 6am so I am sure Thursday will bring more pain. It's nice to have the pain actually because it means that I have challenged…

Inches and body fat percentage are much more important than weight! It took me a long time to get used to that. Our weight can fluctuate so much within a given a day and as women, our weight can vary up to 6 pounds within a given month.

I am a teacher, so I am used to getting up pretty early. My alarm goes off at 4:45 every morning, because I get up, make coffee, and have a pre-workout drink before I head to the gym. It was 33 degrees this morning when I went to the gym at 5:45. I get all bundled up to run outside to the gym, then have to take all of the…

As of this morning, I have done two days of weight lifting! I have another session with my trainer scheduled for Wednesday at 6am. My weight is up 1.6 since last week, which I attribute to too much wine over the holiday week, as my eating wasn't too out of out control.

Good morning from CA where it's a freezing 31 degrees! I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit before I make a mad dash to the gym. My commitment this week is to add one more day of weight training to my routine. I do it twice a week already but in order to see the results I desire, I know three days a week is best for me.…

Hello everyone! My name is Trish and I am 30 years old and live in the SF Bay Area with my husband. I have been using MFP consistently since June, which is when I began to work with a personal trainer. Since early June, I have lost approximately 40 pounds and have gained a lot of strength, stamina, and health. I am looking…

@ninerbuff - would you please explain what broscience is? Thanks!

Yay science! Thank you for posting this. I too would love to have like-minded friends who are interested in science and research-based approaches to health and fitness. I think it's way too easy to get caught up in the lingo of the fads of the day - clean eating, non-GMO, macros, blah blah blah. I will send you a friend…

I have always struggled with my weight and have done numerous things to my body as well as spend entirely way too much money on products promising a "quick fix." Up until recently, I was ignoring the fact that my clothes were too snug and I just felt disgusting most of the time. My most recent "get my butt in gear moment"…

First check-in for me as well. I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 20 and hadn't done much to manage it. I have been prescribed Metformin but I don't tolerate it well. I am seeing a reproductive endocrinologist next week so I am going to ask about that and any other options. I agree with the statement about weight-lifting. I…

I was a heavy drinker (wine) until recently when I got very serious about my weight loss. I can easily polish off a bottle or bottle and a half of wine by myself and of course overeat because of it. I have given it up entirely since I started in early June. My husband and I had sparkling wine at our anniversary dinner at…

My husband and I are both on the weight loss journey but I would definitely say I am putting in a lot more effort than he is. Rather than nag him, I just encourage him when he does the make good choices (healthy lunch, gym after work, no late night snacking). I also compliment him when he looks like he's lost weight or…

30 here and also in this "bigger than my friends" boat. Funny thing is, I wish I was the weight when I thought I was "fat" during my late teens, early 20s. I'd love to make new female friends on here as well. Please feel free to add me. I am working my butt off (literally) and making some good progress. Long way to go…

I too have struggled with PCOS for all of my adult . I wasn't really properly diagnosed with scans and everything until I went to a specialist in India of all places. I was first put on Metformin and birth control when I was diagnosed at 20. Nearly 10 years later, I have better information and I know that birth control and…

I live on the Peninsula and would love to take up hiking on an occasional weekend with like-minded individuals.
