Thank you! Good to know

So, you feel ashamed for taking control of your health? Which will bother you less: having someone pass judgment on you for trying to be proactive about your health or having someone pass judgment on you for doing nothing about your health? I was once walking( for exercise ) past an outdoor cafe, wearing a shirt that is…

I have a few pants that I bought within the last 6 months that are now 3 sizes too big for me. I'm wondering, though, if I were to consider bulking/cutting phases, would increasing my muscle mass also increase my waist size? I don't know if I want a thicker waist than I have now...

Wow, great curls! And the artwork was cool, too :)

Hello Marianna, You will probably find a lot of answers to your questions here. I can't fully explain how it works; I'm not an expert. I am guessing your zumba class burn was calculated using your steps and heartrate, which is accurate for step based activity (walking, running) but not as accurate for things like yoga,…

If i understand this right, you'll need to be in a deficit to cause your body to use some stored fat for fuel. So, if there's fat you want to lose, you have to be in a deficit. I think a surplus on top of where you are now will not help you lose the fat you're looking to lose.
-
I think you have options. It seems you're doing lots of cardio but no resistance training. Look into getting resistance bands or a bodyweight program if you don't have access to barbells and dumbbells. Or continue going without resistance training but continue eating at a deficit. The results may not be as fast as when you…

Ezekiel bread has bible quotes on the packaging. Your suggestion makes me look the other way because i have had bad experiences with religious practitioners and seeing bible quotes on my food is a trigger and makes me overeat 3 bags of sugar each and every meal. Guess i should avoid Ezekiel bread because it's unhealthy

I used to dislike beans. Now I'm very happy with them. I haven't run into a food i didn't like since taking my health and weight more seriously

I would stick to the goal i was given, then. If it feels unmanageable then consider losing .5 lb a week versus 1 lb a week.
-
So what is causing you to want to change the calorie goal you've been on for the last two weeks? Are you trying to lose weight faster than you've lost? You realize this would require a larger deficit than you have now. How would a larger deficit work for you when you're feeling always hungry with the current deficit?
-
How long have you been eating at the calorie goal provided and how has it changed your weight?
-
Protein and fiber tend to keep me full for longer periods of time. Some would suggest eating protein and fats before carbs during meals, or very close to one another. If you're feeling adventurous, try a day where most of your calories come from protein and fiber.
-
I leave mine open. Judgement happens at all times for all reasons within and outside of food and eating. I can't control other people's behaviors.
-
Your thread shows that you still have some discomfort with food. So, you didn't fear carbs as a past event. It is a present and persistent phenomenon for you.
-
Don't. Monitor your results and if you're losing too slow or fast then readjust. Or, do. Monitor your results and if you're losing too slow or fast then readjust.
-
Not everyday will be perfect, you should not give up on yourself for slipping up
-
No. You don't. Why do you have this idea that total caloric balance make less of an impact than carbs, meat, and sugar when managing weight?
-
In weight management, It's all about calories in vs calories out. If you're experiencing significant quality of life impairments related to your eating behaviors, then that's an area to address for being "unhealthy." e.g. feeling significant distress over how you're eating.
-
If you're consistently eating less calories than you use in a day, then you'll lose weight. You can't eat more than you burn and expect weight loss.
-
You can lose weight without exercise.
-
I have done the same with many projects in life. It's important to try as many things as you're comfortable with to see how they work for you at that particular time in your life. If it weren't for all your past experience, you wouldn't be able to apply what will work best for you. In that way, you really have seen all…

I am not actively trying to lose, but if it happens while I'm trying to maintain, I wont worry too much... as long as I'm not going too low in the normal BMI range.
-
Thank you for your insight! Just wanted to (publicly) say, the photo of your torso is inspiring for me. I don't think I can get there anymore, because obesity and loose skin aftermath, but yes, if I could redo it all again I'd maintain that physique throughout my life.

Good job!

I agree, the extra information can be a little daunting for someone who just needs to focus on losing weight at a healthy rate (1% of body weight per week, source unavailable) The macro information is helpful when people are evaluating satiety, it seems. So in that way, it's helpful that MFP is tracking that, but I don't…

Things are a little more challenging with the abundance of food (depending on circumstance) and the effort required to survive in our modern wilderness (nowhere near the amount of effort required to heat our homes with chopped wood, for example) but yes, I agree, there may not be a huge benefit to macro monitoring for the…
