  • Thank you. I knew this, but needed to hear it it seems :) . I will persevere at the pace dictated by the app, and cross train on my off days and enjoy every minute! In the spring I will take my training outside.
  • I'm going to sign up for Perth's World Record Kilt run in late June, the options are a 1 mile race that will be used for the world record, a 5 mile which is what I'm looking at, a half marathon which is slightly tempting and a full marathon the next day which is a BQ. I'm so excited about this race! I do have a question…
  • Thanks all for the warm welcomes! Jan 1 - 4.7 walk/run Jan 2 - rest, did a half hour x-country ski
  • Was a great run today. Even tho I was inside on the treadmill, I don't mind it terribly. Jan 1 - 4.7 walk/run
  • Thanks to you both for mentioning this. I believe I developed extensor tendonitis initially because I started walking in horrible shoes...I was just walking, so shoes didn't matter...right? HA, lesson learned. I have loosened my laces and really it's not too bad unless i'm walking on a hard surface (ie pavement) because…
  • I followed along the December group as I built up my strength and confidence, and you have all inspired me to join this month. I'm simply running with the zombies5k and c25k apps and I am loving it. Suffered with bad shin splints at the start and extensor tendonitis. Was not impressed. Started running tiny little steps on…
  • Well I have indeed been enjoying the gorgeous fall days outside, walking my butt off. It has been fantastic! And it is something I'm going to keep doing all winter long too. My final miniGW goal was 178 and I weighed in yesterday at 177.8. 180's? what 180's! haha, I love this.
  • Neck and shoulders, I'm seeing all bones and muscles, looks great!
  • Summer is walking outside, swimming, cycling on trails and gardening. Trying to work on running outside. Winter is walking outside as long as possible, x-country skiing, snowshoeing and using treadmill/elliptical/stationary bike weather dependant.
  • I get up at 6am weekdays, have some water, then proceed to work for about three hours. When I get home I do cardio for about an hour. It's after stretching, showering that I have my usual breakfast of greek yogurt, banana, apple, and a coffee with about a half cup of milk. I'm hungry by the time I eat, but not starving. I…
  • This was very yummy! It's a very flexible recipe as I'm sure I didn't use the same amounts as the op (one can is very subjective lol). I ended up not using the salsa and did add the beans and in the end, all was yum!! And it made a huge amount! I wasn't sure on the portion size tho, but I don't think I could go too wrong.
  • I'm going to try this tonight! I love making food with leftovers, especially on the weekend AND it should satisfy my husbands 'where's the meat' thinking :) I might add some beans just 'cause I love them.
  • Awesome job, you know this is one of the best things you can do for yourself! I am also a quitter, 10+ years ago now. It's no longer a daily struggle, and I can congratulate myself for staying the course!
  • Yes this, all this. And endorphins. To all those who don't get that benifit, I can understand your resistance. For me, the endorphin DUMP is insane, almost overwhelming in its intensity. And food. Ok, and muscles. Now I just wanna go get h..I mean go run.
  • CW-182.6 MiniGW-178 It's looking good! And I have exercised at LEAST every other day. Truly it has made it much easier to enjoy this way of eating.
  • Amen Sister, that's exactly how I feel, lol. 43 (it took me a ridiculous amount of time to figure out my age), and I'm down 34ish pounds! Add me all you awesome 40somthings!
  • I'm starting Zombies 5k, yes I'm a geek, and yes, I love it! So did my first 'run' yesterday, and it was pretty easy. They said to take the next day off, and I am even tho I really want to do it again today. I saw they give runners who are over 40 a title, I can't remember it offhand but I found it curious! I love the…
  • Well. I have decided to skip the chocolate pecan pie. No one has ever made me one, and I have never tried it but I did find a recipe and when I calculated the calories it came out to about 1500 cals per slice. (I may be exaggerating by 500 cals) No matter how you cut it (pun intended) that's a hefty price for a slice! I…
  • Well despite my weigh ins being wednesday, I stepped on the scale today so I could share on the same day as everyone! SW-190 CW-189 Woot, works for me. And awesome job everyone, some great losses and more importantly, some positive changes in habits!
  • Seeing as how our thanksgiving is this coming weekend, I plan to bank some calories to have some extra treats for dinner. I also plan on eating my normal breakfast and lunch as being overly hungry at dinner time would lead me to overeat for sure. I will drink lots of water (as usual) and hopefully go for a nice long walk…
  • Nor does my 19 year old son.
  • Walked three days in a ROW! Got a great music app makes it lots of fun!
  • That's awesome, thanks!
  • Going good! Been out for a couple walks and they've been lovely, even with the wind from the storms down south blowing things around! Anyone else?
  • Ok I got one for ya. When I walk outside my Fitbit app says I do a mile in 17 min something ( it's written in feet and inches on the app ex 17'34") but when I walk on the treadmill my speed is set at 3.5. How do these two numbers correlate?
  • Does any other eastern-ish coast Canadian have the infamous mashed turnip with brown sugar and butter? Only ever served at thanksgiving lol. And yep, pumpkin pie and butter tarts for desert :)
  • I make lentil soup too, very yummy and sometimes I'll add sausage to it. But lately I've been sprouting my lentils and then adding them to everything! I love the flavor and the protein boost is great.

  • Indeed!! I have a glut of zucchini which I'd like to not go to waste, but I hate freezing it, it ends up in a big clump. So I will try to dehydrate it! I use it alot in zucchini crab cakes and fritatas with ham, cheese, potato and zucchini.
  • Ate great again today!! And went for a 40 min walk outside, it was lovely :) Stick with it Vicki!
  • OMG. This and the rpg workout? Heaven!
