I enjoy challenges, so I don't see it as something miserable, but more of a fun push for myself. I don't eat a ton of junk food anyway, this is really just cleaning things up a bit, and a push toward a more paleo type of eating.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I'm just going off of what my Fitbit Charge HR is telling me. Usually my camp gladiator workouts burn around 450 calories, and then the rest is just from daily walking around my campus. It could very well be inaccurate.

My Fitbit Charge HR. I log my workouts which are usually around 450 cals, and then the rest is from walking around my school all day. My classroom is out in the portables, so I truck around the school a quite a bit taking my kids to lunch, specials, recess, etc.

Thanks guys! So on the 16:8 would you stick to your normal daily calorie goal, or also a reduced calorie goal?
-
^ I have no idea what that bold part means.

Jerry, I think you're right, and I'm going to take Shashay's advice on the food scale. My goals are set at 1,200 calories/day, but I eat some of them back since I'm usually burning 600 cals/day when I exercise. So I'm actually consuming around 1,500 per day. I guess I should be sticking to 1,200 now and not eating anything…

Sounds good, I'll have to make a Walmart run later. Hopefully the holiday crowds are gone! Yeesh!
-
No, I have never used a food scale actually. Do you have a good recommendation?

I'm totally in! I copied your list and posted it on my Facebook page in hopes that some of my friends will join in!

I've found that those type of people are usually so unhappy with their own lives that it's nearly impossible for them to share in anyone else's happiness. Glad you just let it slide right off! :)

Am I doing something wrong? I always hear how hard spin classes are, and my friends swear by them. I don't find them all that intense (cardiovascular wise). I know that my settings are challenging because my legs are burning, but I'm not huffing and puffing, and I'm not crazy sweaty. I really want spin to work for me…

Did you order it off of amazon or is it available somewhere?

I see a lot of people freaked out by the 1200 cal goal. MFP gave me that goal even when I started around 200 lbs. I'm still on 1200/day at 171. I'm 5'4", and I have it set on lightly active because I'm a teacher and walk around a good deal during work. When I workout I usually eat back half the calories, so I'm eating…

This is so true! Just yesterday I bought a pair of "motivation" jeans, and when I got home and tried them on they already fit me just fine. It's like no matter how many pairs of jeans I buy, I still want to go to that bigger size because when I see my current size jeans I'm just thinking "there's no way those would fit…

Say what now? 30k steps? I did a challenge once, and I'm a teacher who works outside of the building in a portable and even on that full day of working, PLUS walking home 3 miles, PLUS getting on the treadmill I still only hit like 24k on my highest day. I hope you have supportive shoes!

I'm 5'4 1/2 and when I started I was around 215 lbs. I'm now at 171 and have eaten 1,200 calories a day for quite a while. It's perfectly fine for me, and has been very effective. If you're being honest with logging and working out and looking at the content of what you eat then it will work. I eat some of the calories I…

Ha, thanks! Hook 'Em!

I find that after I do something I hate, or think is really hard, I feel amazing afterwards. Especially after I stick to it for a while. I have enjoyed working out really hard, and now I try new things that other people consider hard and complain about and it doesn't feel that bad to me. I LOVE the benefits of working out…

I've lost a good amount of weight and drink coffee nearly every morning. I usually sweeten it with Stevia extract and either soy milk or almond milk.

Thanks for the info everyone! I'm feeling more hopeful now. May take me a little longer to get to my goal weight, but I'm not cutting out fitness entirely, just have to modify for now. I know the most important thing is to take care of my body.

I've been working out twice a day all summer since I'm off. While I did lose weight and gain muscle, I also worsened my plantar's fasciitis. Just make sure you're ready and take any precautions for issues you might have. If you're nice and healthy I say go for it!
