Feel free to add me. Im in Devon
-
Originally Scotland but now live in Devon.
-
I'm not sure many schools here have vending machines.
-
It is being used to fund breakfast clubs and healthy eating campaigns in schools. The tax is currently completely ring fenced.
-
No they can but something else like dull sugar coke, use glucose tablets or add sugar to their drink.
-
Actually high taxation has significantly reduced the level of smokers in the UK.
-
The aim of the tax is to reduce the amount of sugar people are consuming. The amount of people who regularly drink irn bru, sprite, fanta at will be less. This is a success in that sense. The wider aim of reducing childhood obesity will take a decade before we can judge.
-
The UK tax is very different to what Cool County did. It only taxes the most sugary of full sugar drinks, has two years based on how much sugar is in the drink and does bit add anything to low sugar or artificially sweetened drinks.
-
There is no medical evidence to support the claim that artificial sweeteners are more harmful that sugar.
-
My goal for today is not to eat too much but tomorrow is the biggie as I am going back to the gym for the first time in years.
-
The government is not being your parent. Obesity related health problems have a huge cost implication on our FREE health sercvices. Taxing something which has a detrement to the welfare of society is responsible and not a nanny state. A nanny state or government playing nanny would be banning high sugar drinks which they…

This has already been hugely effective already as almost all major drinks brand have changed their recipes to reduce sugar content. Irn Bru is bigger than Coke in Scotland and has halved the amount of sugar. Given how much Scots drink of this there will be a big health benefit. As for the brand's that haven't changed, Coke…

A big yah from me. I've been eating 2 eggs a day and could happily have a third of fourth. I buy large free range eggs and they are so flavoursome. There is a slight issue with wind in the evenings but my family and I just laugh that off. I don't know about US standards but UK eggs that have the lion mark have almost zero…
-
Good luck. We are both looking at similar goals although I want to lose my weight yesterday lol
-
Induction is when you are new to the gym, show you how to use the cardii machines, weight machines etc. It's just an introduction to the gym really.
-
I think this is my third try and I've lasted the longest- since 26 August but still have days where I could give it all up...
-
Exeter UK, feel free to friend me
-
You can add me if you like. All my friends are fed up of me talking about gym, diet and weight loss.
-
Good luck. Mfp is the best thing I've done all year. It was hard at first but now I'm lost without it.
-
Good luck on the little one. As a dad of three myself I know that having kids not only gives your plenty of reason to get/keep fit but also a million excuses to let it slip. Best thing in the world through :)
-
Hi. I've been doing mfp obsessively for the last six weeks and seen good results. Hope it's the star of life long habits. Perhaps it could be the same for you too
-
I don't do any core at all. Don't like it (well actually I hate it). My current workouts consist of 4 x 30-45 cardio sessions a week (or until I've burnt 300 kcal)
-
Hi I'm in Exeter too. Not sure if there are many others here although I'd assume so.
-
This really helped me. Thanks. I would have had a meltdown at some of your spikes bit I see what you mean. You are on a continual downward trend.
-
Thanks. I will try not to take it to heart. Caring about my weight and health is still fairly new to me.
-
Feel free to add me. This is my second try at MFP and I'm keen for as much help and motivation as I can get.
-
Congrats. I've put on about a stone a year since getting married and desperately trying to reverse the trend. I'd be interested to know how you find your fitbit and how it helps. I've considered buying one but other than tracking my steps I'm not sure if I will get much benefit?
-
Same here. This is my third try, once I lost a stone in two months but gave up when I started a new job. Going to be harder this time as sat down all day. Good luck!
-
Good luck. Remember to give yourself little targets as a huge weight to lose can be demotivating if you only look at the and goal.
-
Same boat here. Good luck
