Pre-logging. After lunch, I'll log my dinner AND my tv snack. I call my tv snack "meal 4." So there is room for everything.

MFP math has worked right out of the box for me ever since this journey started. I lost on the calories they predicted and I maintain on the calories they predicted. Furthermore, I eat back the calories that the app predicts and I maintain, and lost, as predicted. Sadly, it's 1560 that I maintain on (5' 4", 126lbs, 46 yo).…

I'm excited to try my first 10K trail race in November. It's just off the Appalachian trail in PA so I expect it to be really rocky. I know I can finish it running with a respectable time, but I have to work on my hill climbing
-
I don't have any injuries or body limitations either, but I won't be climbing Mt Everest next month. Ok, I'm being snarky and extreme, but see how that line of thinking doesn't make sense? Just because you're not injured doesn't mean you can pick up and do just anything. If you haven't raced anything at all yet, why not…

I don't have to work out EVERY day. If I feel really bad for any reason, I just don't. Honestly.... I'm not going to become a big, lazy, unfit blob by missing a day, 2 days, or even more of working out.

Signed up for my first 10K trail race in November, not being sure how well I'd be able to do. So on Saturday I did a practice 10K, on a trail, and I did pretty well. 10K in 1:11 (927 total climb)? I think that's a good start. Barring any injuries or derailments I expect to improve even more in the next 6 weeks, so now I'm…

I did not, although I'm LMAO and now have a brand new euphemism in my vocabulary. haha
-
I'm doing a 5K trail run next weekend and I actually did contemplate this question when signing up. They asked that "runners" sign up for the first time slot and "walkers and joggers" sign up for the second time slot. I know I'm not a walker but, am I a runner or a jogger?? haha. Then I was like - screw it. Signed up for…

I'm currently hooked on 2 tbsp of PB2 + 1 tbsp. of Quest chocolate protein powder = 100 calories. It aint Nutella, but it will do. On a pancake, this is my breakfast of choice
-
okay, then if it's what I think it is, I'd search for "Les Mills BODYBALANCE™/BODYFLOW®" (copied from my diary). That's a class that incorporates yoga/pilates, etc. Again, it will get you close enough

Good advice. Yes this trail is in the vicinity of a section of the Appalachian Trail. The AT in Pennsylvania is beyond rocky. Hikers call it "the place where boots go to die" hahaha. I've hiked pieces of it and you can hardly even look up; you just plan where your next step can be placed. Thanks for the input!

Log it in MFP as "aerobics, high impact" if there's lots of plyo. Or just use "circuit training - general" and treat it all as estimates. It's all about the same and gets you in the ballpark
-
You're not wrong. I'm trying to be all like "I'm not an alcoholic" when really I wouldn't mind replacing the cheese and pretzels with a beer and calling it dinner.
-
My "over-do it" meals are restaurant meals. As a general rule, I don't go into a restaurant and say "I'll just have a small salad." I just go for it and fix it later. And alcohol. There's that.
-
Can you see mine? I'm maintaining, but because I'm old(er) and petite, I'm stuck with 1500 (but I eat my exercise). I'm no role model for perfect nutrition - I concentrate on keeping my protein up there.
-
Oh and hey.... if you are a fan of Quest bars, great sale at GNC.com for labor day weekend. Buy one get one 50% off plus free shipping. Good way to stock up
-
I'm all about the cinnamon roll. Love that one. I eat them when I'm on the run....if I know I'll be hungry but can't eat anything real for a while. Between work at the gym, for example. The fiber.... when I first started eating Quest bars, I had to also pop a few GasXs, hahaha. But at some point, I don't know, my body got…

I never understood the advice that I should be keeping a pace that allows me to have a conversation. If I'm able to hold a conversation, I'm not working hard enough, whether running, at the gym, whatever. When I work out, I'm huffing and puffing or I feel like it's a waste of time.
-
The only calories that are worth drinking are booze calories, which I most definitely log.
-
It's hard, not knowing what you like. How about some stuff that you might not have heard of? Nothing weird, just some indie pop you might like? Here are a few from my running playlist: Hideaway - by Moon Taxi Changing - by The Airborne Toxic Event Pocket Knife - by Bronze Radio Return Baby Don't Lie to Me - by The…

I use circuit training - other.

Yeah, true. I have this image in my mind of pizza-place pizza and I forget that it may not be the same as what others perceive. I'm thinking thin crust (which is why I nixed Pizza Hut estimates). Probably close to Dominos. I'll just use that.
-
Ok, now you've started a whole other topic. How is this related to your first post? At all?
-
If you really want to compare yourself to others, see if you can find a 5K result listing. Here's one I did: http://kutztownfoolsrun.com/uploads/16_kutztown_fools_run_5k_results.pdf . No particular reason I'm posting that one other than it's one I know of. It was my first and only (so far) 5K, so before I registered for…

Even when I just go to the gym after work, that's how I play it. I'm usually my hungriest at lunchtime anyway. Then Quest bar after work, sandwich after gym.
-
If you do a sustained workout of that type of thing, perhaps a half hour in duration, without stopping, I'd log it. You might select "Les Mills CXWORX" from the MFP database. I do that workout regularly and it's similar to what you describe. However, it is a solid 30 minutes of exercising, without stopping. My heart rate…

Oh my gosh, it would have to take weight into consideration. At 125lbs, I'm hoisting around far less weight than, say, a 300 lb man, therefore I'm not working as hard. Or is my thinking too simplistic here?

These are available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Protein-Kirkland-Signature-delicious-variety/dp/B01GSL9KAU/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1469730086&sr=1-1&keywords=kirkland+protein+bars Not sure how the price compares, but if you don't have a Costco (I don't)... there you go

I conceded that they are estimates in my original question. I even used the word "estimates." But thanks, I was just looking for a perspective from someone who tried different technologies, so that's helpful.
-
If you tried different apps, which did you find most accurate/conservative? I use Runkeeper and it seems pretty reasonable and inline with MFP estimates.
