  • Diet Coke. I am NOT a diet (or any) soda drinker. But if I want a Captain and Coke, you gotta do what you gotta do. I've also taken to drinking flavored vodka with maybe a squirt of juice, on ice. Gin and diet tonic also. Oh and (I'm not proud of this but) I'll skip dinner and just snack if I'm drinking.
  • As others have stated, just plan for it. Make sure you have a certain number of calories to spare AFTER you've eaten dinner. My diary is set up so that I have a "meal 4." this "meal 4" is simply a placeholder for stuff I eat in front of the tv! If you force yourself to eat in a way that doesn't work for you, none of your…
  • Again I never for ONCE believed it was healthy or low cal. It's just amazing to me how certain restaurants can't offer anything with a reasonable calorie count. I know I could make that at home for half the cals.
  • Yeah probably crazy oil.
  • Oh I know I have options but today that's what I wanted. I was just shocked at that calorie count. I still am not sure it's right
  • I do a pretty mean omelet. Breakfast is my thing; I'd rather skip dinner. So I make an omelet of a TON of vegetables (like broccoli, spinach, mushrooms), one and a half eggs (one egg, one egg white), and a slice of swiss. It's a lot of food for not a lot of calories (I think it's like 250).
  • He "has you chop the nuts?" Just say no. You're obviously going to have to be strong and stand up for yourself and your efforts, so start there. Say no, this was your idea. You chop the damn nuts. I live with 2 young men with great metabolisms (my sons) and a husband who knows nothing of healthy eating. Nothing. It would…
  • I got a pair of these Runlights gloves when they were promoted on Good Morning America https://www.gorunlites.com/. I actually LOVE them. It's a simple concept: bright lights tucked into a pair of gloves. But they are BRIGHT. I actually am conscious not to point them upward when a car comes toward me. Battery life is…
  • Cardio can be pretty miserable and mundane if you're not having fun, so just try different things. I enjoy high intensity intervals, kickboxing, in addition to running.
  • I would like to know... and this might help you.... if there is a thin, breathable, yet grippy glove? There must be. I tried just regular gloves and my sweaty hands get REALLY sweaty, and they just seem to get in the way. I'm on the lookout for something better.
  • I have seriously considered this. I desperately don't want to give up my woods runs. I'm willing to run in the woods in the daylight, with my dog, with no headphones. But it's quiet and lonely out there. While that's a good thing (hello no traffic!), it's also a good opportunity for the wrong person. Or a bear. I know…
  • I will add.... and it's a little funny but maybe just a little true.... I like to think that we can run farther, faster, and with more endurance than most common criminals, right? Right? I mean, don't they just sit around, smoking and planning their next crime?
  • That has been my frame of mind all along. It's what I will tell friends and family who like to warn me (scare me is more like it). But after a while you start to think....gee, I don't know, AM I being stupid here?
  • I do jumping jacks in place because, to me, that motion is more like running than walking is, if that makes sense.
  • In keeping with the spirit of the season.... go to the grocery store and pick up a 15 pound frozen turkey. Then pick up another one. Want to walk around carrying those? You probably do not. That's 30 pounds! :) Good for you!
  • I'm running my first 10K trail race tomorrow! I like to run trails because I have some good ones where my dog can run unleashed by my side. It's also, like others have said, WAY less boring. I can run forever with no music or anything. Cannot do that on the road. Pavement bothers my joints too. My 10K trail time is…
  • I'm not sure I'm young enough or professional enough to answer. I think that for whatever reason you just want to talk to people who are like you, because your question is applicable to any BUSY person. I currently have a big issue competing for my time. I have just promised myself that any unclaimed time, I'm hitting the…
  • I do my pumpkin seeds differently than most people, but damn they are good. Scoop out seeds and do not rinse or soak. I leave a nice coating of the goop on because I think that's where the flavor is. Toss all seeds with maybe a tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt (use any seasoning you want, or none).…
  • Goodwill/thrift shops. Remember, often the stuff that ends up there is stuff that people "outgrew." Nice selection of smaller sizes
  • You'll feel more motivated when exercise becomes less about how it makes you LOOK and more about how it makes you FEEL. Start your workout plan and forget about what it does to your waistline and pay close attention to what it does for your spirit. We've all heard about endorphins, but exercise, by nature, forces you to…
  • I like to be all big and bad and say how I still "eat the foods I love, but in moderation," but there are limits to that statement. Like, I know not to bring Nutella into my house. I can say "I'll just eat one tablespoon" all I want, but we all know that whole jar will be gone by tomorrow.
  • Why choose just one when there's sangria?
  • I had a friend tell me that I look like I'm 12. I'm 47. I like to think she was going for a compliment and just got the number wrong, but I'm not sure.
  • That's what MFP set me at just over a year ago. I stuck to it pretty well, with some exceptions of course. I lost slowly - less than a pound per week. So I'm sure that number was right for me. I'm not really young and I wasn't really heavy, so I guess that's what that number was based upon. But I ate back my exercise. I…
  • If you're not a vegetarian, Turkey Jerky.
  • Same here. I use just a little bit of spaghetti tossed with spiralized zucchini. That does it for me
  • Your cat is in more danger hanging out on the paper cutter, haha
