  • Just for the record, phenylalynine is not a neurotoxin-- it's an essential amino acid. I'm not saying I advocate isolating aminos and then ingesting them separate from the source food. But it is an amino acid.
  • Home fermented foods are far safer and better than any commercial bottled stuff and you will never convince me otherwise. That kind of story is started by those who benefit financially.
  • I brew water kefir and make sure it's really tangy/brewed longer so the carbs are low. The water is double filtered that I use for the kefir. I also eat fermented veggies like Curtido (Latin) and right now I'm fixated on these awesome fermented dill pickles from Sonoma Brinery (they also make Curtido).
  • I seem to have trouble with heartburn from (I think) a lot of fat at one meal. It's like it doesn't digest and then wants to eject. today I started taking Betaine HCL again which basically raises the stomach acid level. Hopefully that will help and also with nausea. The one I'm using is Now Super Enzymes. Just be careful…
  • Hi Pennell12-- I get short tempered when I have really low energy because I'm not coping well with stressors, etc. How is your energy level?
  • I'll be so happy when I get my house-- I have so many plans to grow a nice garden like I had long ago. Stevia will be one of the first things. Then I'll just throw the leaves and water in the Vitamix and strain the liquid with a nut milk bag. Then I'll know there isn't anything in there that I don't want to ingest.
  • I have a HUGE bag of San Francisco bath salts and use it quite often. Love my baths!
  • I take MT nearly every day. I sometimes have pain in my liver if I'm losing weight or eat some not so organic food. Since the ol' liver starts to quiver I figure it needs lots of help so hence the MT. It does help with the discomfort/pain.
  • Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear this news. I hope you're feeling better. I haven't experienced this before and don't know if this works with your diet but supposedly it will break up the stones . . .…
  • Holy smokes!!! You are doing great!!!
  • @eatsyork I completely agree with you and feel silly not to think of that myself. I bought some of the red lentil pasta and it's yummy but yeah, I'm feeling dumb. LOL
  • I'm not sure how much salt or potassium I should be taking. Eating really salty food is harsh (I've been adding a lot of salt lately yuck) but salt tablets sound much more doable. Does anyone take those? How much are you taking? What about potassium-- how much do you take of that a day? Any recommendations on brands and…
  • Wow I'm completely overwhelmed. Thanks for all the advice and kind words and caring. I don't actually seem to be feeling better with higher carbs so maybe lots more salt and take that magnesium every day. Oddly enough I started a kind of meditation yesterday (Sahaja- very very cool) that seems to be giving me quite a bit…
  • I would walk somewhere else honestly. That sounds so creepy it kind of makes me sick so please be careful
  • Wow FIT_goat that's pretty amazing. Thanks for posting all that info!
  • How cool! What an absolutely fun post. I loved that I recognized the dragon fruit on one of your plates. LOL So glad you are having so much fun and experiencing new things. Thanks a lot for sharing the pics, Dan the Mandarin Man in China Land!!
  • I bought plantains today-- supposedly they are used to make pancakes and waffles on an autoimmune Paleo (AIP) diet which I'm transitioning to. This will be a first after all those times of just looking at them in the produce section. LOL
  • Oh also forgot to add that they get a mix of cooked and raw foods
  • Oh I love these DOGS so much. This is the best thread ever!! My dogs eat organic home made food (or organic raw food) and almost all of that is grass fed. My older dog, SoLow, who is 13, appears to have some minor inflammation issues so I no longer feed him raw chicken drumsticks since that is considered a "hot" food in…
  • Thanks so much for the thoughts, Gale. I have had some lower calorie days but I just wasn't hungry so I didn't want to force eating just to meet a calorie goal. Other days I ate more when I was hungrier so I thought it was evening out pretty well. I actually don't know my body too well because I have been sick for so long…
  • I just finished reading something on Web MD about how to have more energy and at one point a recommendation was made to eat peanut butter on whole wheat crackers. That would do much more harm than good to probably a huge percentage of people! So there is all kinds of crazy advice out there. I'm glad you are doing so well…
  • I truly don't know the answer either about keto flu-- I know this doesn't feel the same as when I first started LC but it still could be a "flu" effect. This is all new to me and I have so many health issues (toggling between hypo/hyperthyroid, adrenal fatigue, fatty liver) that it could be anything really. I've recently…
  • Thanks so much everyone! I LOVE this group!!! It is obvious lower carbs are the answer since especially sugar was a taking a huge hit on my health. But maybe they are too low. I didn't realize 150 was still considered low carb. I've been at around 30 to 60 most days. I just want to be able to continue to improve, be able…
  • I'm completely blown away but all the monumentally great news. Congrats everyone!!! This all makes me feel so very lucky to be a part of this group. I'm hoping for a miracle also as I've been struggling with numerous health issues for many years.
  • Wow. I really feel for you ladies having so little calories and not losing. My case is not so dramatic but with pretty severe hypothyroid it seems I have to take extraordinary measures just to see a little progress. I'm trying to jump start my metabolism so I can exercise more. Right now it is exhausting to do very little…
  • Please do share when you can Karlottap!!! I also have loved seeing such sweet pups and I can't get enough!!!
  • It's my pleasure to introduce SoLow the Miniature Pinscher (he is still not happy with me that I gave him such a name as a joke-- SoLow as in "so low to the ground" being as he is a Min Pin. Pete is a Chiweenie (Chihuahua and weenie dog mix). He actually is a white dog with some brown spots. That black spot on his head is…
  • @azcowgirrlup You have done a great thing by making these dishes for yourself and freezing them. I know what it's like when the wasband (yep past tense LOL) would bring home doughnuts every single day. Yes definitely make those hard boiled eggs also! You are so clever and bravo for you to give yourself alternatives to…
  • They really are fantastic highs I agree! So happy for everyone!!!
  • I always like polenta over grits-- grits seem to be kind of blah while polenta had some texture to it. I made my cornbread with polenta with just a little cornmeal since cornmeal is ground much finer
