Seems to me that if starvation mode was real, anorexic wouldn't really be a thing.

It took me 6 pages to figure out exactly what she was complaining about (I was confused whether she was defending supplements or just griping about people being mean). There doesn't seem to be much of a point to anything in this thread except the same old "You people are mean" - "No, we're helpful" back and forth. Yawn.

You don't have to resign yourself to "The Most Boring Foods in the World" diet in order to lose weight and be healthy. Eat what you want and what tastes good to you within your calories, with approx. 80% of those foods being whole, nutrient dense foods, and 20% being treats or what you would probably consider "junk food."…

WHAT!? You mean it's possible to lose weight without herbalife/shakeology/plexus/phentermine/garcinia cambogia/going low carb/going paleo/going low fat/drinking green tea/advocare/etc/etc/etc????? Shocking.

OKC area here :)

I eat carbs whenever I want and am losing weight. Yummy yummy carbs.

Your smile gets bigger every time you take a photo update!! Awesome! You look amazing

I completely agree with this advice. I am the daughter of a former offensive lineman and I inherited his build to an extent - although I am hippy, my shoulders get big when I am overweight (like right now) and "the girls" are big too, so I'm top heavy in that sense, and v-necks & dolman sleeves are my favorites! They…

That's an awesome amount of protein but I think I'd have to gag my way through eating that. Whole eggs would taste better, and I'm not sure how the coconut water fits into the equation... or what effect it would have on taste? Or am I completely misunderstanding and maybe you're just drinking it on the side? Switch to…

I agree with this - Amy's are pretty much the only frozen meals I eat. Love them.

This is how I am now - I've only lost 15lbs of my goal, but my highest weight was 299 and I never felt my weight inhibited me. Sure, some seats were tight like when I would go to baseball or basketball games, but I could still fit. I think it's mostly because even though I was 299, I'm also nearly 6 feet tall, so obviously…

This sounds a lot like that book/diet "French Women Don't Get Fat"....I've never read it but from what I understand, it sounds more like it's a difference in your approach to how you eat, rather than actually what you eat. I don't even know how much credibility that book has in terms of if the lifestyle described is…

Ah, bummer! Sorry, that was the only advice I had. I'm in the "trying to lose weight" category, so I'm not sure what else is out there for making you hungry.

The idea of lowering carbs really only applies to those who are insulin resistant. Not everyone with PCOS is insulin resistant - I'm not. I don't cut anything out of my diet, I'm just choosier about when and how much of it I consume. I'm losing weight just fine. However, I will say that weight lifting has helped much more…

Where did that even come from? You took quite a leap with that comment.

+1 on the bizarre dreams! I take melatonin on occasion, not consistently, and for this very reason. If I take it 2-3 nights in a row, by the 3rd night, my dreams are just... INSAAAANE for some reason lol I've never noticed any weight gain, but again, I don't take it consistently.

I love green tea and I think it is healthy for you in the sense that there's lots of antioxidants and such - but I don't believe it does anything to help with weight loss.

I've been drinking Diet Coke for YEARS, it's always been my favorite. Just had my annual blood work done at the doctor 3 weeks ago and the results were great. I am in perfect health. No high blood pressure, no elevated glucose levels, no raised cholesterol. From your quote - "The way the artificial sweeteners confuse the…

I actually just thought about this recently and was surprised. A tablespoon of ground cinnamon is nearly 20 calories. Seems like it could add up quickly if all spices are like that - I hadn't been tracking them and have still be losing fine, but if my weight loss stalls, that's probably the first thing I'll change is to…

That's a great thing to teach them :)

This morning's weight at my official tracking weigh-in was 284.8! So I'll re-do my stats: Height: 5'11" Age: 28 SW: 299.6 TMSW: 289.2 CW: 284.8 TMGW: 280 (I'm gonna go ahead and shoot for this) GW: 180 Total loss so far for this challenge: 4.4lbs Total loss: 14.4lbs

Gotcha - while I don't agree with your take on sugar, that's your personal choice to make. Beans are great - all kinds - black beans, fat free refried, pinto, etc. And really versatile, you can do a lot of different types of dishes with them and they have good protein in them as well. Skinnytaste.com is a website I use…

Does he want you to avoid ALL fat, or just saturated fats, trans fats, etc..? Some of the things on my list have fat in them, including the eggs, but for the most part it's healthy fat. If I was in your shoes, I guess I would probably try to stick to lean meats like chicken or turkey, and eat beef sparingly - Egg Beaters…

I would trust whoever doesn't have the possibility of benefiting financially from your purchase of it.

We're already friends :) But I want more lifting friends! Add me!

You don't have to eat 100% "healthy foods" (something that is subjective to an extent, anyway) - my calorie goal is 2100 and I have no problem meeting that, and sometimes exceeding it. Here are things I typically eat: Eggs Turkey Bacon All kinds of veggies - Avocados, tomatoes, peppers, onions, green beans, etc.. Cherries,…

I've forgotten to check in until now! Since my first post, I'm down 3.4lbs - as of Wednesday morning, I weighed in at 285.8 - my official weigh-in tracking day is tomorrow though, so we'll see what the scale says in the morning! Things are looking good for hitting TMGW of 283 :) Hope everyone else is doing well so far!

Once I established a consistent lifting routine and the same workout schedule each week, I switched to TDEE method, where you factor your activity into your daily calorie goal, so you have the same calorie goal every day and don't have to worry about tracking exercise calories. This is much simpler, in my opinion, and I'm…

Ohh the phen rages... I am all too familiar with those. Don't miss them one bit. Definitely caused a strain in my relationship at the time.
