my job is so non-taxing, both physically and mentally most of the time, that the only real difference between taking a sick day and coming in to work would be horizontal status versus sitting upright. and frankly, if i got inventive, i could probably eradicate that difference as well. so it'd be kinda pointless for me to…

five pages of thread since my last visit...wow. i've gotta get out less.

FYI - the White House can't do anything regarding this case due to jurisdiction. It was tried at a state level, so the only person who could potentially intervene with pardon authority is Scott Walker...and that just ain't gonna happen.

we do seem to ebb and flow, don't we? crickets for a couple of days and then all of a sudden three pages' worth of posts. it's not you, it's me. :)

i can't even begin to answer this question with just one song. lately, though, i'm wishing Kanye West would kindly go the f@(k away.

"the thing on my phone"... hindsight is always 20/20, but you could've told him, "I'm afraid that rate is only available to people who can actually identify the app by name when checking in. sorry, sir, but we don't honor rates published on the Thing app."

wow...i'm not sure what state you live in, or what the laws are there, but...this sounds pretty shady.

as a couple of other folks have pointed out, it really comes down to asking yourself a couple of questions that don't have immediate, easy answers: 1. are you willing to give up the emotional connection you have with him because he isn't placing a satisfactory amount of emphasis on these ambition issues? 2. are you willing…

i'm @prodigalhippie on IG...although most of what I end up sharing is pretty mundane.

the one thing i have learned...or should i say, has been reinforced...by this whole thing is a life lesson that we'd all benefit from: don't read the comments. if you happen to see an article come up in your news feed about the series or the trial, don't read the comments.

now THAT'S what you ride in the snow, right there, folks. :)

there's a lot about that guy and his family that just plains creeps me the f&(k out, to be certain. folks like to think that you only encounter those types below the Mason-Dixon line, but it's not really a north/south thing. and i think that they earned their sordid reputation in the local community, too, for sure...all…

you didn't phrase the question properly. it should have read: "does the person above you think this is a fitness app or a dating site?"

sometimes, more than money, or schedule, or location...you just need A CHANGE. good luck...it'll likely drop into your lap when you're least expecting it.

as some of you mentioned upthread, it would've been impossible to present everything that the prosecution is now crying about having been left out...but if you follow all the online discussion about this, and read the articles where they make their case about the things that were glossed over by the documentary, i don't…

from the "if i don't chime in soon, it'll be long enough that it'll be officially awkward" desk: just finished reading up...and i'm totally ready to sign up for Ipsy. :) i'm still in a bit of a football coma from the past two days. when i say i did nothing, i cannot emphasize it enough. saturday, i had barely over a…

totally forgot Minnie Driver. I knew I'd leave somebody out.

Once I thought it was Maine...but since we're dealing in fantasy here, I'd have to say Northern California. Pretty much anywhere north of San Jose, heading up the 101 towards Mount Shasta would suffice, but closer to the Bay Area/Marin County would be ideal. I'd nail it down to Mendocino, but that's probably a little more…

can you only pick one? This is tough, because there's a couple of categories that they'd fall into...as Xander from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" so eloquently once put it, "was it sweaty monkey love or tender, Sarah McLachlan love?" in the former category, there'd be Jennifer Lawrence...Christina Ricci....Scarlett…

yeah, Kratz is making the talk-show circuit repeating the same talking points...but the stuff that they left out was pretty trivial, compared to what they actually included. Methinks he doth protest too much. And, frankly - I haven't even gotten far enough into this thing to get too caught up in the second trial...but it's…

other than planned working-vacation trips out of town, i actually haven't missed a day since i went to nights. (yeah, i know that's all pun-like and everything...my apologies.) i couldn't say that when I was a daywalker, though...there were days the alarm would go off and i just wouldn't have it in me to get outta bed and…

no one worthy of that gig wants the gig in the first place. :)

EVERYBODY at work has had it, or is in the middle of it, and my son and his mom got it while they were visiting over the holidays...but I seem to have skirted around it so far. If it's coming for me, I hope it waits until Friday so I can revel in being sick in front of the TV for the weekend. and yeah, Jim Henson and…

this kind of stuff typically interests NO ONE, but being ridiculously nostalgic, i know stuff like this - The earliest trace of Kermit first appeared in 1955 on WRC-TV's Sam and Friends. This prototype Kermit was created from a discarded spring coat belonging to Henson's mother and two ping pong ball halves for eyes...…

seems like just about everyone i know right now is a snot factory...do you have forced air heat where you live?

man...i gotta keep my breaks shorter. every time i pop out for a day or seven, *kitten* gets real in here. FF - keep the faith. we're all pulling for you. J417 - proud of those marks, girl! go on with your bad self! LLB - it's funny how some random moment will completely turn your life on a dime in another direction. it…

about fifteen years ago, between Christmas and New Years', Comedy Central did a marathon of "SOAP" - the old sitcom from the late 70's - and I stayed up for almost two days straight watching it. thank God for Netflix and DVD's. now I can sleep AND there's no commercials.

in july of 2014, near my highest weight of 279 pounds: about two weeks ago, in my current ballpark of just under 220 pounds: getting there, a pound at a time. and i'll echo what others have said...there are some beautiful people upthread here. great work, folks!

kinda bummed that the "intermittent farting" thread is closer to the top than this one...so i'm doing my part to fix that. :)
