  • What did you find to take the place of doritios and salsa?
  • The sauna is good for muscle recovery and heart health in men. It's a soothing ritual and can help lift depression. If it helps in weight loss that's a bonus, but I don't think weight will fall off. I used one regularly when I was a member at the leisure centre and didn't notice a weight loss effect.
  • Some years ago I used Slim Fast with great success, I only had 10 or 15 lbs to lose, so it worked really well for keeping my calories low as there wasn't a lot of wiggle room. I'm not sure how well I could do it now, but don't worry about the naysayers, it will work for you or you'll move on to something else. I used milk,…
  • I'm sort of tired of seeing this. Exercising means I can eat 1500 vs 1200 calories a day and still lose weight. Staying under 1200 is tricky. So of course it is helping in weight loss efforts. Many people are overweight just by eating 200 extra calories a day. Exercise would offset this perfectly, something that used to be…
  • Fitness Blender and Yoga with Adriene. You can use water bottles in the place of hand weights, I would think.
  • Hi Annika - I'm in the UK, but not London although I love to visit :) If it's helpful, I try to stay off sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and processed foods. I'm also into rowing and running. I've had a severe flu and been off my feet for 3 weeks so it will take me a while to get built up again. Add me if you wish to share…
  • I came to comment and see you're already discussing tea, my new favourite thing :) I didn't have a drink throughout the month of March, and I'm now onto a dry April. However, I did have a deathly flu and laryngitis that I'm still recovering from, 3 weeks later. I was too ill to drink coffee, so I'm happy to say I've given…
  • Chef Boy R Dee Ravioli or Beefaroni for lunch every day. Processed cheese slices. Tang. Corned beef hash. Salisbury steak and gravy in a plastic bag. Thin spread of mustard on white bread (until that time it gave me severe indigestion).
  • I don't find what men eat relevant as they have more calories to work with so their diet isn't terribly helpful. Nor do they want to fit into a special occasion dress lol. Add me if you wish, Julie & friends. Only if your diary is open to friends, please.
  • I'm back for March. Over Feb I drank one bottle of wine and a couple beer. Nearly the same as Jan. This month I'm going for 100%.
  • It's near to the end of the month and I stayed with it aside from one bottle of wine and a couple beer. Same as with January. I've been nursing a hip (tfl) injury and trying to stay with the gym while healing and not logging my food intake as well as in the past. But this month still feels like a win because I mostly stuck…
  • Thank you, Greyhound. As it happens I had a repetitive strain injury of the hip in the past, so it may be referred pain from a strained Tensor Fascia Latae. That's the idea I'm working off as it sounds very much like what I'm experiencing and the hip pain is becoming more obvious. I will rest and take care going back, I'm…
  • Thank you Tiny Dancer - I've been in work yesterday and today and it will be next week before I can see someone. It's not easy to get a doctor's appointment unless it's quite urgent.
  • Dry January with 1 slip (two glasses of wine and a beer last Saturday - and a hangover the next morning lol) Started Jan 2nd, so that was technically a slip, or not as that's the day I decided to give it a go. Have not lost even a pound this month however, after gaining 7 over Christmas, thus inspiring the dry January. So,…
  • I cope with the gym. Lots of days the weather can be so dreary and grey I might not get out if I didn't go for a gym session. Walk or run on rare sunshine days. Crafts. Meeting friends for breakfast every Saturday morning. Hygge - tucking in and getting cosy and appreciating the dark nights with: an open fire, Himalayan…
  • I was tempted in as I have exhaustion and pain from rowing / going from unfit to fit. It game me serious headache. I threw them in the bin. On searching it up on google it was of course anecdotal that it can give you a headache, but it was my experience, and it wasn't a normal headache, it was quite severe with feeling of…
  • Newfoundland now living in the UK. Feel free to add if you share your diary with friends.
  • Cruciferous veg, pickled veg, any sort of fish or seafood, wild gamey meat especially moose, caribou, rabbit, and grouse/pheasant. Liver, kale, haggis, olives, beets. There are foods I don't get excited about, but I'll eat almost anything. The only food I struggled with was raw celery, but I'm okay with it now. Also, there…
  • Feel free to add. Aspiring runner. Weight loss goal of 15 lbs. Diary open to friends. Don't be alarmed by low calories this week & next coming as I'm not eating back my calories yet for a fast start :) I'm really interested in what y'all eat. I'm off sugar & aim for more protein & healthy carbs.
  • I've read wearing compression socks to bed helps tremendously. Seems a small investment for what could be a lot of relief. Also, take breaks thru the day to do the recommended physio.
  • Men shouldn't eat soy due to phytoestrogen. It may negatively impact your reproductive health.
  • Good question. If you go low calorie/low protein you will lose lean muscle mass (up to 30% of weight loss). Keep your protein high. Otherwise when you get to goal and start the maintenance phase, you'll not have as much lean muscle mass to boost your metabolism. This is probably part of the reason why people regain their…
  • Lentils and beans - filling, cheap, and nutritious way to get your protein. Whatever fresh fruit in veg that are in season or on sale. I usually try to stop myself at two each types of staple fruit and veg, and then one extra of each. Freeze any fruit that is about to go over. I keep most veggies long past their sell by…
  • @minakshihall I've recommended this a few times now...It's very calorific so I substitute homemade unsweetened applesauce for olive oil, use half the honey, and cut it into 18 slices. I also add cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Keeps well in the fridge for several days or freeze. Yummy toasted with lots of butter: Paleo Seed…
  • I consider grains to be animal feed. Not really fit for human consumption. Since I gave up sugar and grains I haven't lost weight at a quicker rate as those calories have been replaced with other foods. However, I nap only rarely now. A couple health issues are slowly improving. Those who are challenging OP -- have you…
  • I get hangry too haha. On the hunger problem: what works for me is fewer carbs (between 50 & 100), more protein (aim for 90) and healthy fats. Water & green tea help. I've also given up sugar and all grains. Add me as a friend if you want to see my diary.
  • My protein shake with chia seeds. I get absolutely no enjoyment from it and will give it up at some stage but at my current calorie deficit it would be nearly impossible to get enough protein and fibre otherwise.
  • Not sure looking at your list but it may be your meals are unsatisfying because they are lacking in flavour. There's a reason why body builders eat a lot of plain chicken, once you kick it up with flavour you can't eat nearly so much. Try tomato based curry sauce etc. I find spinach oddly filling and will often serve…
