Smith Machine!

Isn't there some sort of formula for that? The max fat one can metabolize thus giving them their maximum deficit (usually uncomfortably low but comfort is relative). I just get irritated by the "I don't have much to lose so it's harder" card fit people play. As if they're special snowflakes almost. As if physics ceases to…

You say minimum as if there's so magic line that absolutely can't be crossed. As in some sort of hard stop. I'm not saying chronically undereating for a long period of time is a good idea, but if 1lbs is 3500 calories (500 per day) couldn't a person with 1lb to lose who's TDEE is 1600 just bite the bullet, eat 1100, and…

Well the companies that make it have made a ton of money. I'd call that a success for them. As far as users go, who knows?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN. I'm a 5'11" male. 224lbs. I shoot for about 1800 calories a day. Been coming down from about 250lbs. My trend app says at my current rate of loss (.8lbs a week) I'm eating 422 calories below my TDEE. Let's do the math on that. So my TDEE is 2222. That's insanely low. "Oh but you're…

I'm 5'11" 224lbs (male). I'm wearing exactly the same pants I wore when I was 250lbs. They feel a little less snug but it's not night and day. So where exactly did I lose the weight? My fingers apparently since my wedding ring feels looser. It's crap and makes no sense. I'm convinced losing another 20lbs will land me at a…

Why? So you're saying if someone that has 1lb left to lose eats 500 calories under their TDEE a day their body somehow won't react the same as someone who has 50lbs to lose but does the same thing? CICO yada yada standard quoted gibberish.

tl;dr

Nothing about weight loss makes sense. I can stick to my program for weeks or even months and barely lose anything. Then, I'll have cake and ice cream at a party and boom, 5lbs literally overnight. There goes months of progress for nothing. It's total crap. Meanwhile every ab-hole on planet gets to brag about how they eat…

Too lazy to click. I just need to know if I'm going to get cancer or not.

Sounds great on paper and this is the stock feel good answer but if your day well planned out is this really always the answer, especially if it's something frequently like office parties, etc. And where do you draw the line? There are basically 9 billion reasons to eat and everything is an occasion these days. At some…

I never received any notification about your weight. Not sure how I would of reacted.
-
Probably. If I don't see results on my bare bones intake I can't imagine how someone else is seeing results eating way more. It defies logic. And if it is possible say how. And say why I'm not. This site is supposed to be for helping people.

I weigh and measure. I don't eat fast food. The food for fun does don't exist in any form anymore. It's just a miserable existence of chicken and fish for the most part. The most thrilling thing I get is a protein bar. Yay. A hint of chocolate. Pretty soon that will go. I'm trying to do a new thing where I eat only…

I just like to present the flip side of all the feel-good-isms. I used to be super excited about IIFYM, estimating eating out, etc but eventually I got hit in the face with reality. Eating out is near impossible now anywhere I actually want to go. Sushi? Nope. Chinese food? Nope. Mexican food? Nope. Chicken and salmon is…

Depends how often that one meal comes up. I can maybe slip in once a week total until I start to rapidly gain and that's eating the most boring food on the menu. Go out of town for a weekend and have a beer? Forget about it! Progress is torpedoed!
-
And I've been eating a whopping 1100 calories less than this calculator says and I've only lost 11lbs in three months. That's counting a 2 week random stall where I've been exactly the same weight (up down every day for no reason). It's maddening and I'm trying 1500 now. Either way by the measure of this calculator the…

So how long can this go on or will you eventually actually lose weight? Because that's the eventual goal right? If you're just holding on to pounds and pounds of extra water randomly that seems kind of pointless. If you lose 10lbs of fat but gain 10lbs of water you still have to lug that 10lbs of water up a hill on bike or…

My car has leather seats. I'm out!

I guess. Six weeks is just a crippling when you're heavy and need actual results. Especially if you really are doing everything right. It's not exactly fun to do everything right and get zero result. To put a little perspective. I've switched to 1500 calories because I've been stuck for weeeeeeeks at the same weight. So…
-
So at the end of the 3-5 weeks do you lose more or just go back to losing the same amount you would have regularly in a week. Why didn't the calorie deficit produce a loss? Don't say muscle. No one is gaining muscle. Ever. (People say this in the forums all the time too.)
-
I see this a lot. Serious question, is there actual science behind this or is this just one of those rule of thumbs? It just seems a little illogical to be sticking to something perfectly for 6 weeks without getting some sort of result. I wonder if someone cutting after a bulk would be expected to wait 6 weeks without…

I wasn't until now. Thanks :(

Meh, it was stalled before the weekend anyways. I gained a few pounds over that weekend then it went back down thanks to the fast. I doubt it's the reason. Plus aren't diet breaks supposedly supposed to induce the magical woosh people babble on about.
-
My vitamin D was low LOL. I take a vitamin D pill now.

15th - 17th I went out of town. First time going off plan since Christmas Day. I know, everyone else gets a diet break but me. That's fine. Anyhow, the 18th I really did it the low number from my diary. I fasted most of the day and only had dinner because of the weekend. The 20ths I was over by 160ish like it says. Same…

I know that's the default fall back here. People look at someone diary. Conclude "oh, it says one yogurt not 43g of yogurt so that's the reason." It doesn't matter if that's the only packaged item the person eats that day, or week even, it will be the default fall back reason. That person isn't weighing or measuring.
-
What about when that's not the case? My diet is bare bones as it is. I'm not secretly or accidently eating a whole pizza at night that I'm forgetting to log. I barely eat out anymore because it's been drilled into my head how inaccurate I am even though I weight 95% of what I eat (again, seriously, who kind of nut thinks…

So is there a logical explanation on why they're unable to lose weight eating like you?
-
Yeah based off this the pounds should be falling off me. I'm roughly 60lbs more than you.
