Make yourself track your food, so that you're mindful of what you eat. Put it in your diary before you eat it - that way you've made a conscious decision to eat it and have taken responsibility. If you're active you can afford to eat a fair bit, you just need to make better choices. A little at a time.

4 years ago I was prediabetic. Type 2 runs in my family - my Dad passed away last year after 25 years of diabetes related poor health. My Dr wanted to put me on Metaformin. I said no and went low carb instead. I have blood tests every 6 months and have reversed my diagnosis and have no sign of any blood sugar issues.

I walk with my partner, he trips at least twice a walk over cracks, uneven pavement - not bad enough to fall down, but enough to make me laugh at him. Because he's lazy - he drags his feet. Pick your feet up, look where you're going, you won't trip.

I have a desk job. I don't work out, I don't go to the gym, or do crossfit or yoga or anything else. I walk to and from the bus and I ride my horse once a week. I've lost 90lbs. I lose about 2 lbs a month. I punched my figures into MFP (weight, height, age etc), set my activity level to Sedentary and wear a fitness…

Bullsh!t. I am a child of the "spanking era" and I have a lot more respect than kids/teenagers do now. There is NOTHING wrong with understanding at a young age there are serious consequences to certain behaviours. When you're a kid it's spanking, when you're an adult it's jail, or getting fired, or socially alienated. One…

Hi, yes, I read all the Keto research too. The "butter and other saturated fat is good for you" studies etc. I bought into it for 4 years. It might be true for some people, but my personal experience is different. Before I started Keto, even at 100lbs overweight, my cholesterol readings were always perfect. Each year since…

I go to Savers every few weeks and buy 3 or 4 dresses for work. A couple of weeks ago I did a wardrobe cull and took 2 bags of clothes back to Savers for donation. Circle of life :P I also find my "weekend clothes" are pretty forgiving and can be worn for 20kg loss or more, I wear 3/4 "fitness pants" a lot, and Target…

I can't stand other people's kids. I can barely tolerate my own and they're 20 and 22 - well that's not true, I like the 22yo okay I guess. Only person I actually know with kids is my SIL and they are beasts. The 10yo has ADHD apparently and at family gatherings he'll sit at the table with all the adults with his ipad…

Took time but I can now drink coffee without sugar. Even the milk has a lot of sugar though, like 13g for a latte. Try and replace sugar with protein and healthy fat, you'll feel loads better.

Don't waste 20 years of your life being fat and telling yourself everything will be better "when you lose weight". Seriously, being overweight was a shadow that affected every potential happiness in my life. Now I'm 42 and yes, it's nice to be thinner, but it's not lifechanging, and I'm sad for all of that time wasted…

The "most accurate" is doing it the same time/same conditions every time. Realistically, you could weigh at 3pm fully clothed if you wanted, if you did this every time. Some think that weighing first thing in the morning after you pee and naked you will be at your lightest, but it's not necessarily the case. The other…

I've lost 87lbs and have about 20 to go. It's still coming in fits and starts though. I lost nothing for about 6 weeks and then 4lbs in the last week and a half.

I'm lucky I have a fair walk to and from the bus (about 10,000 steps a day) plus I tend to spend a couple of hours a day at a standing desk.

Thanks all. Over the weekend I've had a rethink on all of my food. Doing keto for so long I had it pretty much bedded down and tended to eat the same things a lot so now it's all new. I ended up with about 80g carbs (all from avocado and vegetables) 130g protein (fish and chicken) and 50g fat. I'm worried the carbs are too…

I am in Australia. They don't do those tests. All I know is before keto my cholesterol levels were fine, now they are not. I don't believe its "nothing to worry about", doctors aren't stupid. I am just angry that I was stupid enough to buy into the whole "eat all the fat it's good for you" rubbish. I feel I've traded one…

If carbs cause cholesterol to rise then how come my cholesterol has gone from normal to sky high in the time I've been eating under 20g carbs a day? That just doesn't make sense.
-
I get that but I have to trust that the blood tests show it's going up and my Dr is smart enough to know it's a concern. It's actually been 2 separate doctors who've said it's an issue.

Back in the day when I used to eat breakfast, I'd be hungry for the rest of the day. I don't eat until lunch time now, I'm not hungry before then and I generally eat less overall. Breakfast is not needed and in fact many people find skipping breakfast helps them lose weight.

I do everything right. I regularly go 3 weeks with no loss. I've lost 87lbs. You'll make yourself crazy if you worry about weight loss from day to day.

I listen to audiobooks when I walk, drive, ride the bus. They're great. I have an audible membership and get 2 boos a month - I generally pick books that are 15 hours or more. On my list I have: Karen Slaughter Dean Koontz J.D. Robb John Hart Nick Cutter Jodie Picoult John Grisham And a few others. I tend to find an author…

I eat about 100g of fat a day. I've lost 87lb.

Type 2 diabetes is rife in my family. I lost my Dad last year to its ravages. I was also diagnosed as prediabetic 4 years ago. I switched to a low carb diet which reversed my diagnosis in a reasonably short amount of time (less time than it took to achieve significant weight loss). It's taken me 4 years to lose 87lbs. I…

I weigh daily. I fluctuate up and down every day, sometimes I'll hover around the same weight for 3 weeks. I really only look at where I am today compared to where I was a month ago.

Do the 38000 posts make you an expert? Because I would think that you'd know weight gain is caused by eating excess calories, not "changing your eating program". It is actually fine to lose weight eating keto or low carb and then introduce carbs back into your diet once you're at your goal weight. You may gain an initial…

I would strongly advise you head over and join this group http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group - thousands of members many who have reversed their diabetes diagnosis. I was pre-diabetic 4 years ago, switching to low carb saved my life (and reversed my diagnosis). I am…

It's not bad advice. I have a target of 1450. I get an extra 300 a day on average for exercise. If I eat 1750 I don't lose weight. If I eat 1450 I do lose weight. It's quite ok NOT to eat your exercise calories unless you are working out really hard and eating very little and have a massive deficit.

I ride regularly. Anything that involved getting off the couch and doing something is exercise. Not sure why people think only things like crossfit count.
