I agree with the team, log everything. MFP is for you, and it will show you your pluses/minuses but only if you log them.

Bring it on. Always looking for new friends to share encouragement and support!

On track so far! B)

Anyone can add me if you're looking for friends. A good support network is the best!!

Welcome! Join us as we all work toward similar goals. Make new friends!! I'm Gary; I've been on MFP (this time) since June. Glad to see you here!

Hi, I'm new to the group as well. Haven't run in about 20 years so I'm going to start slow. Planning on 30 miles for September to see how it goes. Glad to be here!

Always looking for more friends!!

This post is encouraging to all of us. Keep up the great work!! B)

I'm impressed with your honesty. So glad to hear you have committed yourself to make a change. You're going to get a lot of advice here from a lot of well-meaning folks, which is good. What you need to do is pick small 'wins' for yourself; decide what you want to accomplish today, and reward yourself for those healthy…

I agree with Mr_Knight... get out of the house, go running, hiking, biking somewhere. My usual plan is to go (usually biking) directionally away from the house until I'm beginning to get tired... then I have to make it home. And, miraculously, by then... not hungry!

Get a support network. Add friends (me if you'd like), join a group similar to what you think you'd connect with, and find one of the (constant) fitness / food challenges going on -- they help groups keep motivated and accountable toward each other. After a while, you'll get in a groove, and it seems easy!! Good luck!

Pizza and potato chips. Just another hour on the bike! :D

You're doing great, to just get started and get moving. Over time you will get comfortable with not worrying about plus or minus 100 calories, just work extra foods off with exercise, and move along. Plus you'll get in better shape which means better / more competitive times, which means more calories burned in the same…

Two things: 1) Get new friends, it really helps (feel free to add me). 2) Check out the group challenges in the "Community" section and get in on at least one. They are really motivational; you're not beating other people as much as you are striving for team successes. There's normally at least one starting every month or…

Anyone can add me.

Welcome! There are groups out there for 50+ and I think 100+ lb goals, and I would recommend joining one to help keep motivation (and community) going. I'm also from Ohio and familiar with how the weather factors in exercise, but we can do it!! :)

I'm very impressed you can keep these things in your house without bingeing... I can only long for the day. Potato chips, tortilla chips, Cheez-Its... if we buy them, they are gone. Keep up the good work. Any tips or techniques you use to avoid the binge?
