  • Sheldonklein, it is a personal preferance but according to my research eating under your BMR is potentially problematic in that it can effect your long term metabolism, you lose muscle mass and it leads to higher chance of loose skin as the body basically cannibalises itself to meet its needs. I have done the 1200 calorie…
  • Ok cool, I didn't go to the gym today but when I do I should get more exercise calories. Also my BMR is about 1800 according to various sources and I thought with TDEE I should never eat under my BMR? Obviously I will recalulate this as my weight goes down to account for the drop in my BMR.
  • I know I need to eat more protein to help with weight loss without losing muscle. I am aiming for about 70g of protein a day I know a lot of people would suggest more but studies show a high protein diet may be linked to dementia so I don't want to go too high. 70g is about 25% for me.
  • Low carb is a fashionable diet and no doubt it does work for some people but not for everyone healthy, whole grain carbs can be great for you if you don't over do them. I suffer badly with migraine and low carbing put me in the emergancy room some years ago. Probably best to count calories rather than cut back so much on…
  • Absolutely sunscreen, avoiding the sun, not smoking are key. I have been wearing spf 30 every day since I was a teen , have never sun bathed nor smoked and I don't drink never have so I feel ok about that side of it. I guess that is why I didn't put that down. I think body wraps and dry brushing which isn't painful at all…
  • Well because I am interested in hearing what others have done which they think might have helped their skin. It did work for the sagging I had on my face so I am hoping it might work for my body skin. I don't see the harm in having a thread for people to post suggestions on.
  • I really do think diet i.e eating a very skin supportive diet, the right supplements and skin treatments will also help after all skin can repair and regenerate it is part of its function. In ayurvedic medicine massage is hugely important and in TCM needling is often used to trigger the natural rejuvination of the skin.…
  • 15. LED skin treatments Also I guess lots of things like age, amount to lose, sun damage, if you have had kids, if you smoke etc all come into play as well.
  • RodaRose I have to say I disagree with you about skin, it is a living breathing organ which can respond to the right holistic treatment. I am a bit of skin obsessive and have studied in in depth and skin can and will respond to the right treatment for example I tighened up sagging under my left eye with a combintion of…
  • Thank you all I think I am coming to that conclusion tonight that I just need to keep my calories down and then I eat what I enjoy and exercise is of course a biggie. It is just that you can get caught up in all the diet mythology, loads of my friends are doing Slimming World (UK thing) at the moment, they are losing…
  • Aww I love butter, two eggs scrambled in a little butter keeps me full all day pretty much, I can skip it on toast though.
  • Yeah I think mesuring is something I need to do to make sure I am not cheating myself on portion size. I have a tendency to do that too, fill the bowl and think that is a normal service size when a serving is like a quarter of the bowl. I need some smaller bowls :(
  • Thanks all that does help me decide. I do eat heaps of fresh veggies and fruit each day but it is the portions and extra's that are my undoing. I am open to letting myself have a treat now and again! I am sure I read chocolate is good for you so perhaps I can have some of that each week but as you say I will need to fit it…
