I prioritize food safety as well! What you can do is invest in different colored cutting boards. Use a red cutting board for raw meat, blue for seafood, and green for vegetables. Makes it easier to keep track of which surfaces are contaminated

Yea, this can be gross. However, you can still log in bugs as calories into mfp if you accidentally ate one! I just checked!

Maybe I should start a thread of "post your favorite one pot wonder recipes!"

A dishwasher takes care of a lot of cleaning woes imo. For the ones who hate dishwashing, do you not use a dishwasher at home? There are also countertop dishwashers available if you can't fit one under your sink.

I love the rotating menu idea! I also love that you "pre-set" your meals! Thanks for sharing!

This is what I do too! Anyone else do this or have other strateigies to share that makes cleaning more tolerable, or dare I say even enjoyable?

Thanks everyone for the insightful answers! So I see that some of the unanimous pain points are: 1) Lack of time 2) Lack of energy 3) Challenge deciding what to make daily 4) People really hate cleaning! 5) Family member may not like what you make It seems to boil down to lack of time and energy. It really appears to be…

Well for taco Tuesday (or any other taco night), you can substitute the tortillas for lettuce wraps. Bibb lettuce and romaine is fantastic for this! On burger night, you can substitute burger buns for lettuce buns! Just cut an iceberg lettuce like you would a loaf of bread. Also I saute zucchini, carrot, and bell pepper…

I'll clarify. i could have worded that part better. I stated "a dozen calories a per day multiplies over a course of a couple years." Weight gain can be insidious until you "realize" you're 15 pounds heavier. You''d be surprised how often this happens to a lot of people. They may be in denial or just too busy to notice.…

If you would please, explain the meaning "majoring in the minors," I would appreciate it!=) In regards to the rest of your comment, I respectfully and highly disagree that the difference is infinitesimal. The direct effect of consuming " a couple dozen calories per day" multiplies over a course of a couple years. I believe…

Thanks for sharing! I can attest to the feeling! On days I workout, I up the carbs, and the pump is unbelievable!

Absolutely amazing! Great job, and food looks freakin delcious!

When you increase your carb intake, do you feel more energized and alert, or did you feel more tired and sluggish?

Instead of daily calories, I like to think of it more as a combination of being mindful of whether you feel hungry or not and tracking weekly calories. So for you 1600 x 7 = 11,200 for the week. On Monday you may feel full on 1200 calories, but on Tuesday you eat feel full on 2000 calories. Your average for those days…

To MommyMeggo, my apologies. That precision nutrition response was intended for overw8gosk8.

Has someone been reading precision nutrition? =)

Counting calories is not consistent either. Consuming 100 calories from protein will not have the same effect as consuming 100 calories from carbohydrates. Consuming 100 calories from cookies will not have the same effect as consuming 100 calories from vegetables. Fiber and TEF change the amount of calories absorbed by the…

I couldn't agree more! I think it's very informative when you know whether your calories are coming from carbs, protein, fat, or alcohol. If I may please ask, how have you felt since doing IIFYM? Any changes in energy levels, body composition, etc.?

Here on this forum, there are thousands of posts stating, "I counted calories, lost weight. Stopped counting, gained it all back. Now I'm back for support." Other forums state that as well. If you google "hate counting calories," you find that there is a huge population out there that despises counting calories. I'm making…

It's funny how people in the beginning find it so hard to count calories, and then you see this complete 180 where people find it so hard to NOT count calories! For me it was hard to stop due to fear of losing control and gaining all the weight back. It made me quite anxious to stop to be honest. If I may ask, could you…

Macros and calories are both important but it helps to know what the thermic effect is. Protein 20-35% Fat/Carb 5-15%. Taking the higher end of that range, let's say Person A is taking in 2000 calories of say 50% carb, 35% fat, and 15% protein. Person A's body absorbs 1640 calories [1000-(.15 x 1000)] +[700-(.15 x 700)]…

Parents can really be wonky people haha! I had a friend who's dad was a nurse. His dad felt nursing was the single best career in the whole universe (his dad like many other parents can be very close minded at times). Well my friend is currently a very successful teacher that specializes in special education, and his Dad…

^^ If you can also please highlight where exactly I linked obesity to lack of interest or ability to use a food scale, that would be helpful.

The situation may not apply to you about being teased, but what if you were being teased by close family or friends? How does one handle those situations? In regards to people not wanting it enough, do you think that's really often the case? How about people who are in poverty working multiple jobs just to feed their…

A little back story on my counting macros. If you use any fitness app, plugging in macros also results in counting calories by default. Before my fitnesspal, I just wrote down my macros for the day on paper or something. Basically, i'd look at the nutrition label, get the carbs, fat, and protein, and just wrote them down…

Weighing food or counting calories may make others feel bad or secretly jealous for not watching what they eat like you do which is why people would probably prefer not to watch you weigh your food =)
