  • Hey, baby steps :) . I have a soft spot for healthcare workers because they go through a lot, and it's possible to burn out quickly if they don't take care of themselves first and foremost. My guess is that you went into the field to be able to help those in need, or in pain? You will be able to serve your patients to the…
  • Unfortunately it may not get any easier when you're on the nursing floor. My fiancee was a floor nurse for some years in acute care, med/surg, and in nursing homes. Between the candy/treats that facility liaisons handed out, a lack of time to eat right (necessitating stuffing your face with vending machine goods), combined…
  • Active daily and seeking motivating friends!
  • The scale is one of the first things I do every day. I'm still trying to find out how monthly hormones do to my weight loss, and I know that as soon as the first gulp of water or bite of food is taken, then whatever shows up on the scale is no longer accurate. I may relax the habit when my monthly trends become more…
  • Hi! New to MFP and have logged on every day, hoping to make this a daily habit for myself. Gender fluid, active, and motivated, but with west coast ideals :). Nervous about falling off the fitness bandwagon during the school year. Door swings both ways so we can motivate each other!
  • I was in the AF for several years. All the late nights, the contingency exercises, the enormous pressure was worth it in the end. There are still some days I miss it. If you need a(nother) female perspective, feel free to add me. I got to see lots of sides in action and made lifelong friends. You can do it!

  • I became a heavy sweater. Never had a problem with it beforehand even after working my butt off to get ready. I was singled out as a guidon (flag-bearer) for my flight of 60 trainees. That meant extra upper body work on top of being forced to eat less due to practice times being right before/right after chow. They'll find…
  • More friends always helps!
  • Hi and congrats for your current success! Everyone I knew (including myself) lost weight in basic or boot. I'm sure you're getting plenty of advice from friends and family already, so I'll just wish you luck and add you as a friend. Don't give up!
  • Hello! I'm on my 13th day streak and brand spanking new to MFP. I have the goal of logging in every day and am also seeking folks to help hold me accountable. My focus is on counting calories and getting a good balance of carbs and protein as a burgeoning road racer. My first goal is 15 lb. weight loss, and the biggest…
  • At least 50% of my exercise calories are eaten back. Since I cycle almost every day for gradually lengthening miles I don't want to empty the tank >30 miles from home.
  • When I drink water before meals, less food is needed to make me satisfied. Hydrating well also keeps me from mistaking thirst for hunger.
  • I've never tried that program, but have heard great things about it. It's my goal after losing the first 15 pounds to maintain and start strength training again and IIFYM was something I wanted to look into more when it was time. What foods do you tend to return to for meals? I'd be interested in sharing ideas.
  • I understand this completely. My other half would get this sort of sad pensive look when I brought up a desire to be healthier, (and since we're completely open with each other) as well as concern over how much extra floof was there compared to before. It's been a series of stops and starts with her, and I was sort of…
  • Sometimes having a small glass of very cold water before a meal works to help curb some of my appetite. A bonus is that it helps keep you hydrated.
