I love running!! I am not supposed to after my knee replacement but I am going to ask about it.

Oh goodness!!! That is crazy! How is the end of the year going for you?

I am up for anyone joining, but any teacher will tell you that the first 4-6 weeks of school is madness. You are easily working 60 hours a week, plus working at home, not to mention classroom set ups, meet the parent nights, and regular stresses of BOY. The beginning of the year is not the easiest time to focus on your…

Welcome ladies and thanks for joining! Feel free to start a discussion anytime!!

Excellent, you may have to explain the 5/3/1, I am interested! I have lifted for years, but I feel like I've always done the same thing. Any advice would be great! I need to charge my Fitbit too. Luckily I teach from home (virtual high school) so I love to take short walks throughout the day. It helps so much!

Lisa is my sister. :)

Huh? LoL this one went over my head, sorry.

Welcome!! I had to drive a bus for coaching, that was terrifying! The first time I had to park the bus in the bus barn, after a game, I hit another bus lol.

Questions for the introduction. It works best to copy and paste for questions in to your own response. Name (first only): State you live in: What grade you teach: Subjects you teach: How long you have been a teacher: Something fun and interesting: MFP goals: Add a photo (only if you want)

Someone's preference is not a rule, what a dumb comment to make. The neighborhood gym is for the neighborhood, not for one or two regulars. Unless their are established rules that are posted, these men were way out of line.

I worked as a middle school teacher for six years before starting my current position. I work at a virtual high school and teach seniors. The stress level dropped from about a 100 to a 10, and I can get up and go walk during the day, as long as my walks are short and between 10-20 minutes. I love walking around the block…

I definitely lose weight when taking the pill. When I stop taking it, I gain like 10 pounds in a week. Obviously it's hormonal and fluid retention, but it takes a good month for my body to level out. It is traumatizing!
-
I had to stop taking it for that same reason. I had great success with it in the past, but it makes me soooooo sleepy now. I get grumpy because of the sheer exhaustion. I do not have ADD, in fact I am one of the calmest people I know, so I can't explain it. The exhaustion puts me in to such a funk that I really pay for it…

Thank you all for writing! I too believe that attitude is everything. I am expecting pain and that's ok. It's odd to say, but I am almost excited for a different kind of pain. I've been limping for so long, and the pain and tingling has gotten really old. In my head I know the pain will be healing, not deterioration, and…

Welcome to MFP Marvin!!

Is it normal to be able to run with a joint replacement? I ask because I am 35 and having my knee replaced on June 13th. I miss running more than anything, but haven't been able to in about a year. I would love to be able to do it again...I would even settle for short distances, like a mile to warmup.

I loved body pump, and can't wait to get back to it. I am getting my knee replaced in a few weeks, so it is going to be a good few months. I remember the first time I took it, I was super sore for over a week, like the kind of sore I didn't know was possible. You think today is bad, wait until tomorrow lol. It's worth it…

This thread is making my laugh. I have a big butt, and so do the women in my family, I guess it's the one thing we were blessed with. I have always done squats, lunges, etc, so that has helped. I also have the big ole thunder thighs to match, which I could do without, but once again that is genetic. I just want to be the…

We did two a days in college, and wow, I was in great shape. My body changed in those few short weeks, like nothing else. We had to be on campus at 5:30am for two hours of conditioning, and 5:30pm for an actual soccer practice. The college soccer season is August-September, so if you have ever been to Texas in August, you…

While I believe that a man can honestly want his significant other to lose weight to be healthy, the fact that he is that stuck on only 10-15 pounds is a huge red flag, in my opinion. I can't imagine what it would be like for you, when you had babies or even just got older.
-
Don't even worry about it, everyone had to be the "new" person at one point. Eventually you will start to see the same people over and over, so you will start to get aquainted, even if it is just saying hello or nodding your head. Also, take advantage of it. If you have a question or need help, ask them. Just don't do it…

Surgery is now officially scheduled...June 13th. I know it's going to be a rough few months, but I can't wait to be 6 months from now, on the way to being pain free. Today is one of the worst days I've had in a while, and squashed all of my reservations. Continuing like this for another 4 to 5 years is just not ok.
-
And I have done PT for years before my surgery, and then for a few months after.
-
Luckily, I am in really good shape and have been on a strengthening program for years. I still do it now, although I have had to reduce the weight on my legs and have had to reduce how many times a week I lift. When I do squats now, it's a good 3-4 days before I stop hurting enough to do it again.

You are confused. And a net of only 700 calories is not healthy, you need to eat more. There is no way you would gain with that little.

I go to a weight loss clinic too. The first few doctors here seemed kind of shady (you have to go once a month for a check up, and I saw three docs in three months), and they really didn't care about anything other than making money. The newest doc, he is all about doing it right and holds people accountable. I've seen him…

I really think the key to losing on phentermine is the water and a healthy calorie count. It is good to see people on 1500-1600 calories per day. My doctor agrees 100% with that, and says the key to keeping the weight off is not losing too fast, on an unrealistic calorie goal that you can't sustain without the medicine. I…

I have always wondered this. Does the barcode measure the weight of the bone too?

This is exactly what we do, and we love it.

This is why I prefer using my Fitbit, instead of estimating my burned calories. I know the Fitbit is not totally accurate, but it has been studied and seems to be pretty close. Otherwise, I take half of what MFP gives me, or what the elliptical says, and use that number. I am always baffled when people use cleaning or…
