I try to use bread with higher fiber content when I can. I am not afraid of the carbs, and have found that tortillas and other sandwich alternatives can have just as many calories and be lower in fiber.

One thing a lot of people forget when looking for added sugars in foods is that many products contain concentrated "natural" sugars (like using concentrated apple juice as a sweetener instead of cane sugar). I am as skeptical as can be of anything diet with the word "paleo" in it, but this statement is baloney. The archaeological remains cannot tell you information like this. Very little in the way of botanical remains have survived from this period, and you can only tell so much from bones and teeth (also rare to survive).

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm really not a hard alcohol drinker. Don't care for it, and generally go for beer or dry red wines (less sweet).

I haven't been counting calories long enough to notice a change, but I have wondered what the monthly fluctuations in weight will be. Seems I always gain right before (water weight?).

Thanks for the comments/advice. I started out by not really trying to reduce my calorie intake. I just wanted to log what I was eating to be aware of how much I was consuming (especially when it came to snacks and alcohol). I have been logging calories diligently this entire time. I was just wondering about this. I also weigh daily in the morning before I eat, but my weight fluctuates a lot. If you do daily weigh ins, do you log it each time? I "lost" 2 lbs since yesterday, and I don't want to record it if it isn't real.
