I gave up all soda years ago and don't miss them at all. Don't switch to diet....Diet is worse than regular soda people! But a friend of mine drinks carbonated water instead of soda and says it helps her with the cravings.

Those were my measurements when I graduated high school...but I weighed 120.....I don't think I'll ever see those numbers again. Having babies changed my body! Plus I can't fight genetics! LOL

wow at first I thought my goal weight might be too high compared to everyone! My goal is 150 lbs from there I will see how I feel. When I got married I weighed 120 lbs but when I look back at pictures I think I look way too thin. I think our weight is just a number...it's how we feel that is important. So while I realize a…

I too was recently diagnosed prediabetic and have cut out all refined/added sugar plus "bad" carbs. I eat brown rice, whole wheat grains etc. and foods high in fiber. I haven't been too worried about the sugar or carbs found naturally in plant foods..... I found this very helpful too....…

"Oh net calories should be 1200!" she says as she hits herself upside the head. You all have been most helpful. No wonder I am always hungry!

Perhaps I've been doing this all wrong....you mean I can eat more and still lose weight? Maybe I need to read more....to educate myself. I am still new to this whole eating healthy and losing weight thing.
-
So what is the point in exercise then? If I eat my 1200 calories why bother exercising? I don't exercise to eat more I exercise to lose weight. Right?
-
Thanks msffmay for putting your life on the line to save others.

I don't weigh anything....don't have a scale. So everything is guessing or measurements. I also read the packages and count out portions. I've lost 9lbs in 5 weeks. So I guess it's working for me.

feel free to friend me if you like.

Nothing wrong with a healthy snack from time to time..... a piece of fruit, nuts, greek yogurt...it's all good.

Hi! You can do this! Talk small steps. Set a goal of your first 25lbs and work toward that. Sometimes I find that when my circumstances look overwhelming if I break them up into smaller goals it helps. And remember it probably took awhile to gain that weight so it will take a while to loose it. That is okay! You've already…

I found this helpful... http://greatideas.people.com/2015/01/29/working-out-not-losing-weight-reasons/

Science based? Most of the data that is quoted is a bit out dated. But it was an interesting read.

So true....

My cravings were bad in the beginning but I just chose to ignore them and eat something healthy like nuts or greek yogurt with fruit and it would go away. Now I hardly ever crave it.

am sure I will be "attacked" by this but added sugar is not good for you. https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/the-surprising-benefits-of-cutting-back-on-sugar/?utm_source=mfp&utm_medium=Facebook

Way to go babyleonard! So proud of you for beginning this journey. Sounds like you are doing great...just don't give up! I am familiar with the struggle of depression and PTSD. I am so sorry! I can't imagine dealing with those and the others things, but you are off to a great start. Oh...and when I don't have pockets...and…

Oh and you can do this!! Believe it and just do it, one step at a time!

5 weeks ago I was diagnosed at insulin resistant/borderline diabetic. I have lost 8 lbs already by cutting out added sugars and bad carbs. At some point you will want to increase your exercise to 30-40 minutes a day, even if you do it slowly or spread it out. If walking is hard try biking or lifting. I have chronic pain…

I've been using the free version. Works for me.

One reason I am working so hard right now to lose weight and eat healthy is that I am borderline diabetic so if I don't get the numbers down by diet/lifestyle there may come a day I am diabetic. I am only about 25lbs over weight but I am fighting genetics. It's real people....it's real hard to fight genetics.

LOL at 53 I will not see my weight at 20....but then those who knew me thought I was anorexic! :-) Anyway I sure you can do it!

Oh my...I am reading this thread and thinking even at my thinnest I've haven't seen single digit sizes since jr high. When I got married I was 5'7 at a 120 and wore a size 12 junior. Thirty plus years later I am at 171 and wear 12 or 14 missy and/or large. My goal is 150lbs...from there I will see how I feel and may go…

As long as you do not have diabetes sugars found naturally in foods is not bad. But too much of even a good thing can be bad. I too have cut out added sugars due to being borderline diabetic and trying to get my numbers down. I try to stay between the AHS suggested 25gms and MFP 45gms. I usually have no problem staying…

I agree with those who have already said that you have not failed. Failure is giving up. I too have had days that I have made poor choices and end up with little to no calories left. I eat a big healthy salad and call it a day. Then tomorrow start fresh. Now I have less of those type days because I refuse to have any junk…

Thank you so much Msjanjan. Your encouragement and cheering on brought a smile to my face. I debated on whether or not I should even "join" any community discussion but realized that we really can't do this alone. We need other like minded people who understand. So thank you! I am so sorry to hear about the struggles with…
