Good for you! Adding 30 lbs -- and still exceeding your distance goal -- is awesome!

That is classic! LOL!

The snake would FREAK ME OUT.

I saw ... pine trees heavily laden with cones. Makes me think they might be right about a harsh winter

Success today with this attempt of w5d3! Took me two attempts, as I failed earlier this week, but my brain was in a different place today and much more patient. I need to work on letting my mind wander instead of thinking about the time. It is always a treat to read about the determination and grit of us C25K folks!

Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate your support and input! It's great to keep learning about new tech. @rides4sanity, I love this breakdown and have screen-shotted your post. I'm definitely still in the moderate category, as I be just gotten back on my bike after a loooonng hiatus. @allaboutthecake , that Garmin chest…

According to the DC Rainmaker site, there is a Garmin device that mounts on the back of your bike, and then has a small unit on your handlebars. It is a radar-thing and shows you when cars are approaching from behind. The sensor on the back alerts the approaching driver by activating a flashing light that gets stronger the…

That Jolly Roger jersey is great! I love the green behind the skull and crossbones. Glad it fits so well -- enjoy!

Thanks, everyone! Yes, I can get a HRM to pair up with my Garmin, so that will be next on my list of purchases. I have the Vivoactive without the HRM, but can buy the HRM strap and sensor separately. It's interesting, as I think the Garmin calorie estimates are correct for running -- around 100 cal/mile. So I assumed they…

Oatmeal? Just check to make sure the oatmeal isn't processed in a facility that could cross contaminate it with wheat. Lots of fruits and veggies. And dried fruits -- raisins, plums -- are supposed to be good. Along with drinking plenty of water.

Well, I had a fail today. Stopped 10 min into the 15 min run portion. I find once I stop and begin to walk, I can't start running again. Anyone else experience that, or are you able to get all for a while and then re-start the run? My plan is to go for a light bike ride tomorrow, have a rest day on Tuesday, and try this…

I like it! Good for ya on the Tour de Cure. :)

What about larger quantities of low-calorie foods, such as watermelon, cantaloupe, cauliflower, and other veggies?

Today was w5d2, including a 12:00 run, and I DID IT! Hard to believe 2 weeks ago I was fretting about 5:00. Things that really helped: -- my friend did the 20-min run today, and her success is so motivating -- the weather is much cooler and no humidity (70'F or 19'C) -- instead of counting minutes, I told myself 'it's just…

I am only on w5d3. I am nowhere near running 5k. For me, a distant goal is consistent 12 minute miles, or a 5K in under 40 min. Once I complete C25K (and I won't be at 5K) I plan to increase my time until I can run for 40 minutes straight on a regular basis. I have no desire to run 10K so I'm not sure I will download that…

Green woodpeckers??!! So cool! How did you get your dog back? I always go to a dirt road near my house so I can let my dog off-leash. I'd like to run someplace else as well but don't want to deal with a leashed dog pulling me around. How do you manage with your puppy?

@Somebody_Loved the *organizer* said the course wasn't ready! Omg! That is too funny! I think you were absolutely right to wait for a different race. Thanks for the info about the 10K app. I am still a long way from completing the 5K, but I can always dream, right? I just wish I had better patience. I want this extra…

@dramaqueen45 -- I have to admit -- I had never considered recumbent. What drew you to that type of bike?
-
@mommyknits -- congratulations on your new baby! I've been out and increasing my time/distance every day. Today I found that 'sweet spot' where speed and cadence were all in sync and it felt like I go go forever. :) PS. I knit too. Love ravelry! Such an amazing website -- both from the community and the technical sides.

I started by simply walking (helps that I have a dog). Those first three weeks - ugh. I felt achy. I tried to visualise it as rust and toxins being squeezed out of my body. Once I could walk for 30+ min without problem, I decided to try running and downloaded a C25K (couch to 5K) app. I also have a bike and have…

The best thing to do is figure out what you want, and have a price range. Steps? Smart notifications? GPS? Heart rate monitor? Waterproof (ie, for swimming) or water resistant (ie, no problem in the rain)? Once you have narrowed it down, we can help better. I love my tracker because it's right for me.

Holy smokes!! Well done, sir, well done!!

On Sunday, I failed to run my w5d1 schedule. In my programme, it is r 3:00, w 3:00, r 5:00, w 5:00, r 8:00. I stopped running 1:30 into the last run. I felt utterly depleted between the heat and several days of eating under my calorie goals. Tuesday was a scheduled day off, and I went to a restaurant with friends. Ate more…

Good for you, Graduate!! Look how far you have come :)

Which 10K app did you choose? I'm. Nowhere close to needing it ... But I'm planning to get there! Good luck with the 5K. I hope you meet your goal!

Beautiful bike! Enjoy your new baby!

Wow! Way to go! And very motivating for me. I especially like the green shoelaces. Also glad to see the senior woman in the background of the second picture since I am closer in age to her, lol!

Our community centre, because it is: 1). Down the street from me. 3 minute walk 2). Small and friendly 3). Has a decent number of machines and a good selection of classes (from pool to swimming to ice skating to aikido to Zumba) 4). Yearly membership is reasonable -- $458 per year for an adult, family memberships for $813.…
