Absolutely these are victories! Good for you! I am still at the very beginning of this journey and am noticing the same things as you. Though I do weigh myself once a week and wish the scale had moved more.

This is such a good attitude. Thanks for sharing. :)

YES! Let's be friends! I'm a principal, and I know what you mean about stress. This job can be all-consuming. Would love to hear about your Japan trip.
-
Yes, please add me! Great idea! Thanks for organising.

Outside of London, Ontario! (though I wish I were out East!) Looking for friends, especially 50+ women (I'm almost 51) who like to be active.

I usually buy from Apple. I have used Songza and Slacker. I've never looked at Spotify (can you stream it in Canada? I'll have to find out).

Gorgeous bike! Looks fast!! Here's my new baby. She reminds me of the batmobile. Or Stealth bomber.

I downloaded strava today and connected it to my Garmin vivoactive and MFP. It doubled my exercise numbers. I've deleted the extra activity for today as well as the app itself. I think the Garmin will do everything I need.

I chose the Women's Synapse 105 5 with disc brakes (I live in the Canadian snowbelt) and it is matte black. Reminds me of the batmobile. Or a Stealth bomber, lol!

I got a bike. Does that count?

Thank you! It is beautiful. So excited for Monday! It's better than Christmas!

Right now, I would be thrilled to run a 5k in under 40 minutes. My long term goal would be 10-min miles. But this is just for me. Everyone is so different. I think you should run your first 5k, and then in your next race try to better your time as measured against yourself. In my experience, there is no 'normal', lol!

I BOUGHT MY BIKE!! Woo hoo!! So so excited. Can't wait to pick 'er up on Monday! I chose a Cannondale Synapse and am extremely happy. After 2 months, five bike stores, and countless test rides, this one feels so right.

Yes, come join the group! It's a supportive community. We are all in the same boat together.

A www, thanks! She is such a good puppy. And you have the right attitude! Faster can come later.

I'll join! Great idea!

Happy happy day!

Week 3.5?? I LOVE IT!! Yes, slowing down is the key. I have faith you will make it!

Sounds like you are off to a good start! MFP will help with the weight loss. Many folks here suggest setting it for losing 1 lb/week. Has your PT given you some suggestions for exercise? Using the pool sounds like a great idea. Can you include biking?

Good for you!

Good luck with your race! Can't wait to hear about it!

It is so inspiring to read about all of you and your progress! Be proud of yourselves and thanks for sharing! I did w4d2. Long run interval of 5 mins. I went a little further than usual because at one point I had to turn around and run away from a family of skunks crossing the road in front of me!

Well done!!

I started MFP and exercising in July. Back then, every time I worked out I felt sick and 'flu-ish' afterwards, with achy joints. I tried to visualise that as toxins being forced out of my body. Running for 1-2 minutes left me happy but panting. 5 weeks later, my joints don't hurt; they feel slick and strong. I walked 4.5…

Thank goodness for my bestest exercise buddy!

This is fascinating. Thanks everyone!

Good for you! Yes, please let us know how it goes! Enjoy the experience.

Yep! I took your advice and slowed down considerably (or so it felt -- in reality, it was only about 45 sec off my typical best pace). I concentrated on breathing. One thing that really resonated with me, that @thebuz said, was that the program was designed to walk briskly and run slowly, and that the two would then meld…

Interesting! Thanks, everyone! PS, running in a fjord in Iceland sounds like paradise!! Were you visiting there or is that your home, @bwogilvie ?
