  • I have PCOS. I'm not on Metformin, Yasmin makes my symptoms manageable. I haven't had a baby, but I can tell you that weight loss makes a huge impact on how bad my PCOS is, particularly for cramping and pain.
  • w2d2 done!
  • w2d1 done! The first time I completed w1d1 was August 5 so it's slow going (and I took some time off because I was getting twinges of pain under one foot), but the advice (from here) to slow down had really helped.
  • You deserve a partner who supports you in positive ways and it doesn't sound like that's happening. It's awesome you're trying to be healthier through this though- do right by you & your body! & congrats on your weight loss so far!
  • My low interval speed is 3.0 and my high interval speed is 5.5, should I lower the faster one and see how that goes?
  • It's the gym in my apartment building- there's a handful of cardio machines, two weight machines and a rack of dumbbells. Building management is more concerned with moving people in and out than someone being mean, and TBH this happening one time is not something I'd make an official complaint to anyone about. It's just…
  • I throw them on my oatmeal and salads.

  • Thanks yall- so if I'm running (walking/jogging) 3x weekly and doing below 2x weekly, would you cut the crunches and swap in a different exercise? http://www.building-muscle101.com/dumbbell_workout_beginner.html Dumbbell Squat Stiff Leg Dumbbell Dead Lift Standing Dumbbell Calf Raise Incline Dumbbell Bench Press Seated…
  • I skipped rest days last fall when I was starting out and seriously messed up my foot/ankle. So much pain. Now I'm starting out again. Over a month in, only doing serious cardio 3x weekly (I lift 2x weekly) and so far no injuries.

  • I'm a c25k beginner... it took 4 weeks of cardio to work up to w1d1 for me. I did w1d1 last Wednesday, w1d2 (same thing) last Friday, missed Monday and just did w1d3 today (Tuesday). It's doable but I'm struggling with it a fair amount, so I'm thinking I may do two more week 1 runs this week and see if my HR doesn't spike…
  • I was diagnosed with high cholesterol within the last month too. Lots of what I've read (and been told on here) points to diet having a limited impact on your cholesterol, and lifestyle changes such as exercising being key. Maybe as part of your lifestyle changes, add or increase your exercise? Even if you start with…
  • Legs, arms, back, neck was all sore and cranky. Much less sore today but I have a few muscles I'm still hearing from. I assume yoga & above stretches would be after running/lifting?

  • Let's talk about those instead. I did one of those spa ones for moisturizing ages ago when I'd just moved and my skin was freaking out and super dry. It was basically massage + person covering me in lotion + a nap. I had super soft skin afterwards, it was amazing (also a kind of once in a lifetime thing... mostly I use…

  • A doughnut, soda, dessert, and finishing a glass of wine that tasted off.
  • I usually work out in the morning, so on those days I put makeup on after I've worked out and showered. If I work out in the afternoon or evening I'm usually coming from work, so then I have mascara, concealer, and blush on. I don't use foundation, my mascara is waterproof, and everything I buy is non-comedogenic so I…
  • I'm currently doing these: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml (I've now been doing cardio for 4 weeks to work up to being able to complete day 1, so my suggestion is to start with walking and build up to this program from there- using time intervals of walking and jogging worked well for me because I'm on a…
  • I've found that with MMR I have to check the map after I've walked my dog- it puts in a ton of exaggerated zigs and zags into the map that seriously up the distance (and hence calories). I usually have it mapping while I'm walking her, get home, then 'create a route' using the 'follow the roads/trails' tool and log that…
  • Love them. Made hasselback potatoes last night. Best parts of chips, home fries, and baked potatoes all in one. I want a recipe for that potato cup egg thing.
  • They're worthless. I have a friend who used them and none of us could tell a difference... her "friend" who was selling them sure made some money off of her until she figured that out, though. Seems like they have a pyramid scheme thing going on?
  • Go for more calories than that for sure! Especially with the exercise. I'm 29, 5'4", 135lbs and eat more than you and am losing weight. That's fantastic that you ran 10k. I've spent over 4 weeks building up to be able to do the first week of c25k, so you're pretty much an inspiration.
  • I had a doctor give me a prayer to say every morning because I was struggling with depression and anxiety. Yey Louisiana! I went to a pre-conception appointment with an ob/gyn (also in Louisiana) and she totally forgot to do the blood panel that was the point of the appointment. At my next appointment she argued with me…
  • The ones I tried had a very tough texture, to the point of being hard to chew- despite being in a bag of water? We've been eating Barilla ProteinPLUS recently: Serving Size 2 oz(56g - about 1/7 box) Calories 190 Fat Cal 20 Cholesterol 0.0mg 0% Sodium 25.0mg 1% Total Carb 38.0g 13% Fiber 4.0g 16% Sugar 2.0g Protein…
  • Dining out- I scope out food options ahead of time if it's possible- much easier with restaurants than special events, but even having a couple options to pick from when I arrive helps me make better choices. Sometimes I get an appetizer plus a side veggie for my meal as a way to get a splurge (fried) food with a limited…
  • Walk the dog almost a mile Do my workout- cardio and weights Buy ONLY WHAT IS ON MY LIST at the grocer
  • Write out a list of things to do other than eating when you're bored, lonely, anxious, stressed, sad, mad, etc. try to include quick things and longer activities. Put it where you won't forget it and use it. It does sound like you should raise your daily calories too.
  • If you're going through with it be sure to get enough protein to support your physical goals- read up on vegetarian sources and plan them into your eating. Don't just cut out meat, replace it with alternative sources of protein.
  • Did your trainer call it a "detox" or is that your wording? Did he review what you've been eating with you before suggesting that?
  • What does a typical "eating healthy and clean" day look like for you?
  • I love lifting. I love it while I'm lifting, and I love waking up the next day feeling stronger. Beats cardio any day in my book (although I do that too). I'd ignore anything coming out of the mouth of someone who tells you women shouldn't lift. For sure.
  • 8/3 Walk the dog twice, at least half a mile each time Treadmill workout! Eat less than 1,500cals
