Day 19 and still dry. Funny, Tuesday's are generally hectic for me, my hubby and I have a late night class and generally pick up a bottle of wine or 2 on the way home, we then sit and drink and talk about the class until the wine is gone. I had a strong urge last night but I kept thinking, I've log on here for 18 days and…

Day 18 and not a speck of alcohol this month. I'm past the craving stage. Even old habits like have to have it while watching a movie are gone. Last night I hosted a dinner party with 8 guests and was not the least bit tempted. In fact, if I may pat myself on the back, I wasn't tempted for dessert either. Had a nice cup of…

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Discoveries like that do always come as a shock. We have a tendency to think that nothing bad will ever happen to us. Well we're wrong, "time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all". You do need to take some action NOW, while you can. Stopping alcohol is a big step. You're right, eating and…

@juliedee20: Good for you! That must have been quite a stressful time but you handled it like a trooper! I have to say, I'm so proud of you. Rewarded with a good nights sleep and a peaceful morning. Hope this day went well for you. @tmbg1: The good-bye is only temporary. Our babies never really grow up and leave us. I know…

Never let fear stay in your way. You'll have plenty to eat to keep you full and satisfied. Make the protein the mainstay of your plate, that is what will keep you full. Make sure to include plenty of veggies and it's a good idea to always include a piece of fruit with your meal. If a plate of steak, mashed potatoes, garlic…

Day 15 for me and no cravings :) I can't believe this is going so well. For the past 30 years I've shared a bottle or 2 of wine a night with my hubby only stopping for a couple days and 2 years ago I stopped for 21 and immediately started up again. I have to come to the conclusion that I may just have to learn to enjoy…

All food is food. There are no "real foods" and "fake foods." Yes, we do fill our bodies with chemicals every day. A chemical is simply a compound or substance that has been purified or prepared. The kids definition is any substance that is formed when two or more other substances act upon one another or that is used to…

I'll answer your questions: 1. "Is there any research backing any of this up?" Yes there is, read the book. 2. "Are they arguing that a significant number of people have food allergies they don't know about?" No, they aren't "arguing" anything. They are asking that if you're having digestive issues, skin issues, etc. . .…

Day 14 for me. I'm really happy to see how well everyone is doing. Good for you tmbg, that's a grea NSV. On the flip side, I've been getting itchy hands, not the skin but internal, it's driving me nuts!!! :(

[quote="ThysbeEverbloom; I tend turn into a mixture between hulk and the 2 stepsisters of cinderella (a really mean b***). I understand what you're saying. My poor husband has felt that wrath. I don't know why, we can e having a great time and once we hit the 2 bottle mark I became a b***. I hated that. Hated the lack of…

You all have such great comments here, truly motivating! Thysbeeverblom: you said "dont be ashamed of what you log, I think some of us here can really understand and had times of their own" that is so true. SandiRemedios: YES you MUST learn to carry water with you when you walk in this weather. abarriere: I've been doing…

A group makes it easier to find ut generally there is no communication, just logging statistics. I like the thread here where we can all communicate. :)

Child, I had a lot to say to you but then I thought better not to encourage you. Say what you want, feel what you feel, do what you do. I will do the same.

Starting day 11 with No Alcohol. While I'm very pleased with myself, it's not a whole lot of fun. It's funny how we can feel that we won't be able to have a good time without a few drinks.

Could it be hormonal? We women have a lot more to deal with than we give consideration to. Glad you made it through the day. Hopefully things will start looking up soon.

What are the toxins??? Read the ingredient label to most "so called foods" they aren't even real foods! We fill our bodies with chemicals of all sorts on a daily basis. The liver doesn't know what to do with non real foods. We can't rely on our livers to fix every poor choice we make. Must learn to make better choices,…

Well said :)

Do you honestly think that after 33 years of a condition I haven't seen a doctor??? Let's be real honey

Hey, you did great! Better 1 or 2 nights than every night. One trick I use when I feel I'm drinking too much is to pour an 8 oz glass of water with each drink and drink the entire glass before I can have another drink. Your body can only handle so much liquid! Good luck this week.

Whole30 is not a diet, it lasts only 30 days and its intent is to find the foods that your body does not handle well, be it allergies or intolerance. You will more than likely lose weight during this 30 day period but that is not the sole purpose for utilizing this program. I myself as mentioned have suffered with IBS for…

I'm doing the Whole30 and so is my husband. I'm on day 10 and this is my observation: The first couple days we felt a little fatigued, well, REALLY fatigued :( . We were ok the next few days but sometimes, around dinner time the fatigue sets in again. I really think it's just the body having to adjust to less sugar. I know…

Wow, this thread has really caught on! I'm glad to see we all recognize that drinking is not benefiting us. It's been the absolute cause of my weight gain too. This has been a habit of say 30 years! Started when the kids were babies, after a long hard day of being a mom. Their grown and married now. I've become complacent,…

Is today day one for you? I'm on day 9 today and believe it or not, today is the first day I've felt challenged. There's a cool breeze this evening and it's the end of a busy weekend. Son and his wife were home for the weekend and now gone, the house is quiet. Just me and the hubby left here and this would be the time we…

juliedee20: Glad you've decided to join. Believe it or not, sometimes being the sober one and watching others is just as much fun as having one yourself lol. TnTWalter: Could have done worse. Today's a new day, so starting from this moment. . . ogmomma2012: Good for you. Now let's keep it on the shelf :) AlexanderAM: Not a…

Still hanging in there, Day 8 :)
-
Okay, and now about me, today is day 8. No alcohol so far this month, not a drop. Last month I made every excuse under the sun for why I should be able to have "a" drink at the end of the day, (it's been a stressful day, glad I made it through that, it's a perfect night to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine, date night…

Glad you're "in" :)

Just remember why you're doing this, and this is your quote "To better myself, set an example for my girls, and be ready when the zombie Apocalypse comes". Look around girl, the zombies are everywhere, you better get back in that wagon fast.

I understand your need to change your visit times with the MIL. We have to do what we have to do to stay on track. Habits aren't easy to break but they say 21 days will do it. SO, if we can make it 1 month, we'll all be doing really good.

That's day 6 if I'm correct :) The weight will come off, just be patient. I've been doing the whole30 plan since August 1st and have lost 6 pounds in a week. I know that's a lot, and no doubt water but I'll take any loss I can get. I don't know about you, but so far I've saved or should I say not spent about $120 on wine…
