  • I'm feeling the same way. I lost 60+ lbs (still pre-op) and you know what people are asking me... Did you get a haircut? I want to smack them and say NO I lost a bunch of weight tell me I'm awesome! LOL
  • I'm in the preop phase now too. After speaking with the NP at the WLS office, the plan she gave me was called Lean & Green - basically it's NO carbs (sweets, breads, potatoes, pasta, rice, beans, corn, onions, carrots, peas, etc). 5-6 oz of lean protein + 1.5 cups of veggies (or more if it's lettuce). I can have that 3…
  • - Lose 12 Lbs (Home scale 9-1 at 351.8 so Goal is 339.8) - Work up to 10 minutes on the Elliptical (Currently at 4.5 minutes) - Track food every day on the day I eat it - no putting it off for a day or two. - Work out 6 days a week for 20+ minutes

  • I haven't had surgery yet - but after losing 60 lbs I notice my thigh will get numb when I'm standing up for a period of time (even 10 minutes). This had happened to me previously and I spoke with my GP about it. I guess it's a nerve that gets pinched in the front of your hipbone by belly overhang. Strangely enough, I had…
  • Hi Krissy, Has your dr's office put you on a specific pre-op plan? If so, what are the challenges you are having in following it (not enough food, eating stuff off the plan, keeping track, etc)? Are you exercising the recommended amount? Is it a lack of information on what to do (per your statement that you won't be able…
  • Thanks guys - that's pretty much the approach that I took - that I need something that is going to help me keep it off for the long haul. In a way I feel like I shouldn't talk to people about having surgery soon, but I'm so excited about it I have trouble keeping my mouth shut. Plus at work it seems everyone is always…
  • I sat in a chair at work the other morning with arms that I would have previously avoided, but I actually fit! No pinching my my legs. Also - my resting heart rate seems to have gone from around 85 to closer to 77.

  • I'm doing water aerobics and or swimming everyday - I recently purchased a used elliptical for winter time but your idea of joining the center with the pool sounds like a great one. I've been to see personal trainers in the past and they seem to often have goals that are different than mine were - wanting you to work…
  • Thanks for posting that. It's so inspiring!
  • Sorry this is off topic but I've searched the help page and can't figure it out. How do I edit my original post to include updated weights? Thanks!
  • I'm still pre-op but very low carb - with super stinky breath and dry mouth (and yes, I'm drinking enough water - I can have dry mouth with a mouth full of water). I found the Act Dry Mouth mouthwash helps at least with keeping me from feeling like I've got sand in my mouth all the time.
  • I fit wore the bra I wore at my wedding! (5 years ago). Also looked smoking hot in a new dress that was 2 sizes smaller than I had been wearing.
  • Cheese sticks, protein shakes, cut up lean lunch meat, maybe nuts? I cook up a whole batch of red peppers, asparagus and other veggies with a little olive oil and seasonings and those are good cold and last a few days. Yogurt probably lasts a few days in a cooler also. If your family is going to do burgers or something…
  • I have the same problem with eating too fast. I'm preop right now, but know this could be a problem in the long run. I know they say not to be distracted while you are eating, but I plate up my food (and don't do seconds, ever) then I do something like deedeetris said, and do a game or something on my phone. I work at a…

  • I'm in the pre surgery stage. I'm aiming for RNY in January 2016. Would love some more friends and support.
  • That's a great point! It's so much harder to make a meal when you have to clean up first to do it then know you're going to have to clean up afterwards too. Great goal to clean up before you go to bed at night.. might just try that! My goal this week is to keep on keeping on - even though I'm not seeing the losses I was…
  • The carbs do seem high on that. Don't most people use carrots and onions and celery when they make stock? Which would make the carb count higher? If you're just making it with meat - how can it be higher carbs than the meat?
