I almost never import recipes any more, but rather enter the ingredients individually as I prep them. I often make substitutions or reduce oil or use a frozen version of a veggie (like mirepoix), etc. I find it easier just to enter it manually and save it as one of my own recipes. Once I've weighed everything going in, I…

One of the best places to start is by reading the "sticky posts" found at the top of the Getting Started forum. It will help you understand how to make the most out of MFP and how a calorie deficit works, etc. Start slow and get the hang of managing your food intake.

The holidays jumped the scale about 15lbs for me. The first 5lbs dropped as soon as I got back into my food routine, but I'm now a solid 15lbs from "ultimate goal weight." This is my first full week back at really working at it, and running less is actually helping with the rungries and I've stayed on target each day…

My doctor told me to quit smoking first, not worry about the weight gain as a result and then lose weight once the quitting smoking was a lock. It worked for me, but has been a five year process.

It's just running.

When I first started MFP, I downright refused to exercise outside of walking my dog. I did diet only and it worked. As I lost more weight, I WANTED to move more and exercise, so I did. I'd say the first 30lbs or so (out of 100+) I lost ONLY focused on diet.

As others have posted, your calorie target already factors in a deficit, so exercising increases your deficit (not just creates one). Eating some of those calories back will keep you from eating too little and running into fatigue, hunger, and other health issues. For example, an MFP calorie goal of 1200 per day plus 400…

I was able to divert the pizza outing until next week! Now I can plan next week a little better and know ahead of time what to order and to have calories that day. Thursdays are run days so I should be able to work it in. Pizza is my kryptonite.

^^^^^ This. Mittens will keep you warmer. I had the same problem with gloves and none of them kept my hands warm. I have a pair of mittens with flap and no problems since.

I tend to use my back to overcompensate for the instability in my hips and generally have not had a strong core. I think my SI has been wonky for a long time. Plus, when I fell and injured my hip, there was probably some SI aggravation that happened then, too. The MRI didn't show anything specific there, but any pain I…

same.

This is super helpful! I don't have a bra with the padding, but I do have a nighty with inserts and this will be awesome. I have to say after pitting my Wacoal and Panache boob-to-boob, I prefer the Wacoal. The Panache isn't bad, and I will wear it for shorter runs and other workouts/gym time, but long runs will be in my…

Had a family brunch yesterday that put me over by about 800 calories for the day and forgot before the holidays I scheduled a team lunch pizza outing today. I can make it work, but I put some feelers out to see if anyone else on the team wanted to postpone. I sure could use a few extra weeks of staying solid on plan before…

Another 6 mile trail run on Saturday with no additional aggravation. Hip is solid. SI joint is unchanged. This is my first week switching to PT only once per week--been going 2x per week since October! I will get an adjustable sit/stand desk at work within the next two weeks which will help with some of the SI aggravation.…

It's probably a little bit of both. Give him a kiss, a thank you, and tell him how sweet it is to bring you a soda. Then, kindly ask him if he can bring you a diet DP next time instead.

The MRI will be helpful and your symptoms do sound consistent with a labral tear. If that's the case, rest and PT will help (but only surgery will fix). I have a labral tear (and FAI which is bone spurs on the ball part of my joint that like to scrape the torn cartilage).

I'm running every third day pretty regularly at this point, between 3.5 and 6 miles. I got to run up a mountain last Sunday and it felt awesome. Not sure there will be a non-muddy trail to run this weekend, so might opt for some road miles. PT for hip is going awesome. Still working out some SI joint kinks. Holiday eating…

I've lost about 100, but it's starting to get away from me due to a hip. CW: 169.4 GW: 150 If I can be back in the 150's by Valentine's, I'll be thrilled.

I was 256lbs and started with walking. Over the course of two years I have become an avid runner as I work toward a healthy weight. There's a lot of great plans out there to get started (like C25K).

I'm not a doctor, but I do play one on the Internet. I'm guessing labral tear, but also go to a real doctor and find out.

Great job on your weight loss! I agree a heavy lifting program will get you closer to your vision.

Put in 3 miles this morning. Felt amazing. Next run day is Friday and going to aim for another 3. I'll decide on Sunday how long my "long" run will be based on how I feel (also going to give it a go on a flat trail). Ideal = 6. Likely = 4-5. Any miles are good miles at this point.

I generally encourage my daughter to eat ahead of time and just feel extra excited if someone has safely accommodated her, however it makes me grumpy that she should be accommodated far more than she is. I can tell you college dining hall eating is frankly the biggest disappointment (and financial suck) I have encountered…

Last week I managed two 1.7m runs and a 3.4m run (two loops of the 1.7), which for the most part mirrors my forever-schedule I'm supposed to adhere to of running every other day (some weeks I'll get a bonus day, but while I'm still in PT it's three days). There's a whole regimen I have to follow before I get out the door,…

Optavia is crap. Set a calorie goal and eat real food.

My daughter is Celiac and hates salad.

Thank you! I love girly fitness issues. :)

First part may be TMI and is about lady bits... Have any ladies here done any pelvic floor PT? I'm looking to add that to my regiment. I'm currently in PT twice a week with a male PT I adore, but he's definitely focused on helping me run with a torn labrum. I went to my OBGYN last week to have my IUD removed (I suspect a…

Continue working with your therapist on a plan. Trust the process.

I've been eating like crap, so not posting much on MFP, but the loads of PT is definitely helping my hip. I got to do 15 minutes on the elliptical today and some next-level exercises. I'm feeling super duper hopeful that I'll get to run again before the year is up.
