You're amazing! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Yup. Me too. No bad relationship with food. I just like a lot of it.

I'd love a week of being on vacation and eating pastries every day. Enjoy your trip. Enjoy the food. Don't worry a lick about any of it and come back and get into your regular deficit routine.

I'll definitely use PT to tide me by until 2019 because hubby is about to change jobs and our insurance will change. I'd rather hit the out of pocket maximum early in the year rather than the end of 2018 and not be able to take advantage of what will essentially be "free" healthcare. I'm not surgery averse, and honestly,…

Sigh. So here I am. I've had a bothersome hip for a while, but always worked through it. It has especially flared up lately and I took a spill at a trail race a few weeks ago that prompted me to see an ortho specialist. The Xray first had him thinking stress fracture and sent me for an MRI. MRI showed no stress fracture,…

If you like Altras, there is an Altra Lone Peak hiking boot I'm DYING to try. I have an old pair of Keen boots from pre-weight loss that are now too big. Next spring when I do more hiking after the melt off, I definitely want to nab a pair.

I'm currently in Hoka Gaviota for road (mostly short runs) and just got Salming Trail 5's after retiring my Altra Lone Peaks (loved them). I've done one run in the Salming shoes and they are so light and the slight drop compared to the Altras is not as bothersome as I thought it might be. There's not quite as wide a toe…

Hal Higdon has an M3 and HM3 plan that has three run days, presumably to make space for more cross training/weight training. Once I have a sense of what I need to do for my hip, I'm going to take the run 3/lift 3/rest 1approach. I think that's the only way I'll get to keep running before I'll ultimately need a hip…

Just got a call back from the doctor. The MRI showed no stress fracture in my hip, but does show FAI (as did the X-rays). I'm not sure if that definitely means a torn labrum yet or not (will ask when I go in to the dr. for follow-up on Friday), or just the spurs on my hip. I still may need surgery, but that's another…

You were undereating and then had to overcompensate due to over restriction. Pick a reasonable calorie deficit, eat back your exercise calories, and be patient. Restrict/binge is a dangerous cycle and not very effective for weight loss.
-
Sigh. Back from the ortho. X-rays show likely stress fracture; MRI ordered to confirm severity. Crutches and "toe tap weight" only on the left side until full treatment plan figured out. Unlikely that the MRI will rule out stress fracture, but he said not to drop the race just yet. Slightly hopeful, but I got the, "Please…

Ultimately, you just have to decide not to eat them OR figure out how to make them fit into your calories if those snacks are important to you. Once I learned to prioritize food based on my calorie goal, it was a lot easier to resist those temptations.

@Orphia I love your costume! I have a Halloween birthday, so I love costume races. You're beautifully healthy so *kitten* anyone who says otherwise. @biketheworld @BruinsGal_91 What a bunch of tools.

Oct 1 - REST (planned) Oct 2 - REST (ummm, unplanned) Oct 3 - REST (still unplanned) Oct 4 - REST (again...) Oct 5 - REST (sigh) Oct 6 - Crosstrain (Body Pump) Oct 7 - 14.2 I was aiming for 16 yesterday, but stopped early because I ran out of time due to other commitments. I mis-judged the effort to hike a hill (twice) in…

I run early, usually around 4:30. I pee, get dressed, and head out the door. I don't drink or bring water, but I don't feel thirsty either. I usually run about 5 miles on weekdays. Long runs are different. I will eat breakfast and have coffee prior and eat along the way. I usually have to stop once to pee during long runs…

This is mile 11 of 13.1 on Saturday. I'm not at all photogenic. I had just popped some sport beans w/ caffeine for a push the last two miles and my groin was throbbing from my earlier fall.

Baked potatoes, rice, pasta.

@Avidkeo I run with pepper for the purposes of critters and creepy dudes.

A gluten free diet doesn't help you lose weight. It is meant for people with Celiac disease and gluten intolerance. You can eat any foods you want and lose weight.

Oct 1 - REST (planned) Oct 2 - REST (ummm, unplanned) Oct 3 - REST (still unplanned) Oct 4 - REST (again...) Oct 4 - REST (sigh) Took one more rest day. Tomorrow is a light run and a strength class at the gym, and I'm making a go at a long run Sunday on an easy-ish trail loop that will allow me to bag out at 7, 14, or 21…

Also, I love the rationale that a 50k is not much further than a marathon. It's more like bonus miles.
-
I'm super paranoid that I wouldn't be able to do it, so I tossed in a few extra each week. My longest long run will be 25 miles. I don't want to cross the marathon distance until I actually do the 50k.
-
Anecdotally, I tend to run/walk on trail, especially as my long run gets into 18+ mile territory. I had two identical 18m runs and my walk/run was the same as my run. Had I needed to run further, I think the run/walk would have been faster, especially walking hills. I could run faster on the flatter sections than had I had…

I got an age group win in February thanks to a small race and really cold weather. Take it where you can get it.

Agreed. Hal just happens to be a schedule of running that works well for me with an amount of miles I can achieve every week. I've done better on each of my races than I expected, so it must be working. I modified his Marathon Novice 2 plan for my 50k rather than his ultra plan, though, since I've never run a marathon. I…

@MegaMooseEsq You can't go wrong with Hal.

Oct 1 - REST (planned) Oct 2 - REST (ummm, unplanned) Oct 3 - REST (still unplanned) Oct 4 - REST (again...) Thought maybe today would be the day. I had hubby help do some self-release exercises on my back (opposite the hip issue) last night which helped me sleep, but was still too sore to run this morning. I did do my…

Incorporate tomato/spaghetti sauce into foods. For low carb, put spag sauce on top of sausages/meatballs, pizza burgers, etc. I blend fresh baby spinach into a protein shake w/ greek yogurt and chocolate protein powder. It's green-ish, but not spinach tasting at all. Blend it VERY well and it will become homogeneous.…

I switched from full sugar soda to sparkling water when I first started dieting. I do drink Coke Zero quite a bit. Hasn't hindered me at all. I drink WAY less of it than I ever drank regular soda, though. I love fizzy drinks and mostly do sparkling water anyway.

Oct 1 - REST (planned) Oct 2 - REST (ummm, unplanned) Oct 3 - REST (still unplanned) Hip/groin still pretty sore. Doing some stretches which do help. Might head out tonight for a short run. It doesn't really hurt when I run with good form. Panicking about 50k training (this week was supposed to be 20 mile run...not sure…
