  • Hello everyone, I just wanted to check in cause I went missing for a while. I'll start logging here soon but for nowI didn't have a lot of free time on my hands. Also I'll make sure to post a pic of my shoes next time, apparently I really am buying a pair every week lol but I can't resist a pair of Kinvara 7 for 50$
  • @Tattooedolphi Get well soon. I'll be taking a break this week as well. • @Stoshew71 McMillan has such a long neck
  • @RespectTheKitty Funny thing, I started running for the same reason. When I ran I forgot about many things that were "killing me". It's also one of the things that got me an injury because all I wanted to do is run and never stop. Someday I might go into ultras lol. And trust you are good enough to run in a race.…
  • I walk. I walk between my strides that I do on flat also so I walk when I do hill repeats. I reckon the purpose of the workout isn't to keep a high heart rate, but to focus on proper biomechanics, so a rest isn't as much of an issue as focusing on moving those legs nicely. But now it depends on the hill repeat. Short 100…

  • @_nikkiwolf_ Oh boy new shoes. Is that the 7? It looks like the 7. I hear they fixed the locking system so now they fit a bit better. I have the 6 but it's kinda tight, unless you run in them. Like they can't stand me not running in them. I'll certainly get the 7 at one point. Either that or I'm jumping on the Hoka train…

  • @girlinahat A day of rest never hurt anyone. I say take a day off if you want. Remember. Work hard, rest harder @dkabambe Ha, good work. I remember first time I ran 10 km. Took me like 1 hour and 10 minutes with a pace of 7:00 min/km. But I felt like could go forever. It was one of those runner's high moments…
  • @MNLittleFinn I trained for my first half with around 35-40 mpw and I did just fine. I didn't even went past 12 miles in the long run and so far, 13.1 miles is the farthest I ever ran. Did it in 1:31:57 which is exactly in line with my 5k and 10k times. Was it optimal? Probably not, I'm certain more mileage is better for a…

  • @ddmom0811 Yea, it was like 5$ to print your name and time on the medal. I thought it was a pretty sweet, especially since this was my first half. @skippygirlsmom Non runners in general are terrified when it gets under 50 degrees. Runners like us are just crazy @Stoshew71 wow, what a change. By the way, I want to thank…

  • I'm slowing down this month, only 200 km because I'm tapering this week for the half and I plan to take a few days up to a week completely off after to give my body some time to recover. Extremely happy with my training so far, consistency seems to pay off, I've gone from having a 1:45:00 goal for the half to hoping I can…
  • @_nikkiwolf_ Not if you don't push it a bit, at least for me. Over the last months I was running at 6:00 min/km on my easy days even though my 5k went from 23:00 to 19:57. I'm still fine at 6:00 but my heart rate went from being 160 at that pace to 142 at the same speed. It's still easy but I can't really tell how much…
  • @MNLittleFinn If you want the quick tip just find the pace that you think you can run for about an hour. As soon as you go over this pace you'll start having thoughts like "no way I can hold this for more than 20-30 minutes" then you'll know it's too fast
  • @Stoshew71 @MNLittleFinn I do wear my HR strap quite a lot. Over time I learned a bit or two about how my heart rate correlates with my speed and zones. I use 200 max heart rate cause that's what I hit one in a 5k race with hellish conditions and I threw up afterwards and got 198 so I added 2 to be sure. I never got 198…
