I usually have new shoes by 500 miles. I usually start googling for shoes at about 300 miles though and jump on it if I see any good sales. If you feel they lost their responsiveness I'd say it's time to at least search for new shoes. Don't wait for joint pain to do that

It was rest day today but I really want that Strava Berlin Marathon Badge so 4k. Also public announcement Strava is giving free shoes for anyone running a negative split in a marathon (US) http://blog.strava.com/back-half-challenge/?utm_source=strava&utm_medium=mktgemail&utm_campaign=2016_09_26_Strava_Backhalf_Challenge…

@RespectTheKitty I try to run anyway except if I physically can't because the snow is like 10 feet or something. Then I'll go to the gym and use their treadmills. I also don't run outside if it's icy. I was looking the otherday at some things called yaktrax. That DC Rainmaker guy was recommending them…

@greenolivetree I used to powerlift pretty seriously until December. Until I discovered running that is. @Stoshew71 I stayed behind him for more than half the race. I like to run behind people. And he was just at my pace. Mad props to him though he was pretty fast. He was like "you can pass me if you want" and I was like…

Since a protein is 4 cals that means 12*4 = 48. That thing has 60% of it's cals from protein

Did a tempo today and it started getting cooooold. 53 degrees today made tempo feel really easy, heart was well bellow the usual at that pace, felt great. Twas a bit cold because I wore shorts and a singlet. Need to go shopping for something with long sleeves soon. Bonus pic from last race (I'm in green)…

That's true. Runners that I do know just call me a "low mileage hobby jogger"

@MobyCarp That was a tough race. Probably the humidity had something to do with it. Speaking about cramps. I know the ultra guys around here use some kind of liquid magnesium vials to combat cramps.
-
@louubelle16 That seems exactly like the half I have in 3 weeks. The first mile is uphill and they somehow decided to also loop that portion in mile 11. Madness. Congrats. LET THE FOOD ROLL @katharmonic Don't worry about it. No race is the same, everyone is unique. That's what makes racing fun, you never know what you…

@mobycarp I learned that the first time I bought my watch. I was like "oh sweet, now I can run at pace and the watch will just keep me on pace" but as soon as the beeping started I wanted to smash it. Never again. I don't like to feel lime I'm forced to run a certain pace. With enough runs under your belt you get the feel…

@ariceroni I got them from runningwarehouse (EU) because they were on sale. I just checked and they do have some funky prints for women too. @9voice9 The only way to be sure you ran, let's say a 5k it's to run it on a track in lane 1. Even on certified coursed you need to run perfect tangets or you run more than the distance. I'd say that you shouldn't bother much and just go with the fastest one that is certified. Non certified courses can sometimes be 100-200…

@mom3over40 I try to take them during hard training runs where I know I'll run longer and harder than usual. During long runs I find that I perform better if I hydrate constantly and might put some electrolytes in my water. I no longer feel the fatigue setting in when running over 1 hour. Definitely drink water if you are…

Everyone is talking about shoes, but I just acquired the funkiest shorts And yes, that's a skull with flowers coming from it's eye sockets On the topic of Brook Ghosts, I tried them and they feel comfy but I don't like their big 12 mm drop @emmab0902 I get that when I'm running for quite a while and I don't drink anything.…

@lporter229 @mom3over40 @5512bf I organize my training blocks in 24 weeks from now on. Means I get to have 2 of them in one year which keeps me busy. After a key race like after I recover I jump straight back into base building for one or two months until I get close (12-18 weeks) to another key race. I find it keeps me…

@RespectTheKitty Sweet pair of tires you got there. @samthepanda Maybe it was something you ate or ate too close to the run. I always have problems running on a full stomach. I try to eat like 3-4 hours before I was afraid of today's planned long run. Assigment asked for 25 minutes at marathon pace (4:35 min/km or 7:22…
