250 km for next month. If everything goes to plan I should be around there

I gotta go with Galen Rupp. I'm sold on him when I saw his hat strategy. No man should be allowed to wear so many hats during a marathon. But he did it anyway. Absolute madman. Also I was listening to Marathon Talk Podcast the other day and they were talking about elite marathoners and I was surprised how little the raced…

Race day. Had a 10 k through forest. Didn't know what to expect. I don't think I'll do a race report now cause I'm so tired and I just got home. Interesting race since it was almost entirely on dirt and soft land and a little bit longer than advertised. I had to slow down but it was a great race nevertheless. I got 7th in…

I only do group runs if I have something like an easy run and I won't care about pace. Long run is my favorite thing to do in groups because it's long enough to get boring alone. Otherwise, if I have a session I will go with them and do my warm-up for 2-3 miles then just go on my own. Everyone understands…

@_nikkiwolf_ Congrats on the PR. I did a distance PR today too but it's only a measly 19km :) Also that nun had 8 years to train before her first Ironman. @Orphia Ayana is human after all. After she won the 10k and ran the 5k heat way too hard she hit the wall in the final and the Kenyan team made their moves. Like sharks sensing blood. You can't race 3 times in a week at world class level and not pay for it Date.....Distance..Type/min/km August 1 - 6.6 km - V.Easy/7:00…

@Orphia Holy that schedule looks brutal. 4 mile warmups, 12 mile tempos and 3 mile cd. I'd be dead after that. Anyway his schedule follows a pretty simple planning. A tempo on tuesday, intervals on friday and a long run. The rest of the days and doubles are easy running at just 6 min miles :)))). No wonder when he runs his…

Charts tell me I could ran one in around 1:32 but I always like to underestimate myself when it comes to races. Because that's how I get to run negative splits since I find out in the race I can run faster once I get halfway. For now I still need to do some steady long runs to get some confidence for the distance
-
@theresawindsor7374 My first half is on 9 October. I know I could run one right now but I want to train to do it in under 1:40:00. I don't like to go into things just to finish them. Also I'm having a bad time trying to not let my long run hit a half marathon. I guess I'll do one at like 13.0 miles :)). Can't wait. Not…

The women's 10k race was insane. I'm not the one to jump to conclusions, but beating a 20 year old record set by people that were on a state wide doping program by 30 seconds sounds shady. I wonder how long till the organizers made her pee in a cup after the race. I'll need to rewatch that race. I'm pretty sure she also…
-
@luluinca Yea that's how it works. If you can hold an 11 min pace at let's say 150 bpm, with enough training you could hold an 11 min pace at 140 bpm which means you can go faster for the same effort
-
@5512bf I do agree you need a minimum of fitness to reach your max HR. Otherwise your muscles and lungs will just give up before your heart @Elise4270 Thanks. I'm already feeling better. I'm sure it's from something I ate yesterday.
-
@5512bf @luluinca Max HR is set and you can't train it. You can lower your resting heart rate but you can't increase your max. It's set. Only time you go over your max is if you are having a heart attack or something like that. Problem is it's hard to achieve max heart rate. Most people will give up before hitting it…

I need advice. I've been using the Vdot Tables to calculate my paces and I calculated from my last 5k I did back at the beginning of june 21:57. My I pace is 4:18 min/km and that is supposed to get me to vo2 max. Today I had 1000 meter repeats with 3 min rest and so I did them spot on at 4:18-4:16 min/km. I know vo2max…

@KatieJane83 That's way too accurate of a description. I do that math a lot in my head. I like to do my long runs going straight and back so I feel like I did some distance. I'm always thinking: "If I turn back now I do 10 miles, but to do 12 miles I just need to run just one mile forward cause that would be 2 when I get…

Long distance runners usually don't use the tensor fasciae a lot. So it's weak. That's why drills help. You know which athletes have strong tensor fasciae? Sprinters. Because they sprint a lot, even in training. Long distance runners don't. So do your drills and strides folks
-
@RespectTheKitty The best way? Deadlifts and squats. Else you can try bridges @5512bf @KatieJane83 I use a little program called Greenshot. It runs in the background and you can assign shortcuts. You can also set it to save automatically or ask where to save. I set Alt+PrintScreen to open the snipping tool and I just drag…
