  • Thanks so much for all the suggestions, everyone. So lovely to have such a helpful community :) I'm looking forward to giving everything a try and will certainly post again once the race is over!
  • I'm at 25 km right now, which according to Google is 15 miles (I'm way behind on my distance training, unfortunately, due to bad weather and a very strong cold). Usually I run on Saturday mornings and on Fridays we have breakfast at work that usually consists of lots of bread, meaning I'm not hungry for dinner and just…
  • Thanks for all the tips! :) Guess I can add cereal with yogurt to the list of not-so-great meals as I experiment. Definitely will have to an egg-based meal or a protein bar too!
  • Maybe you're not losing fat in your hips and legs yet? I've lost about 10-15 lbs over the past year and I went down a clothing size in shirts, but not in pants. I have found it easier to get into my skinny jeans though.
  • Ha, I just had a bar of 85% chocolate in my hand when I was grocery shopping earlier but I put it back...should have bought it! Thanks for the tip, I'll keep it in mind next time!
  • Congratulations on resisting the temptation! Nice to hear a success story. All summer long I've been buying fresh local berries which has helped somewhat. I realised it's just as easy, but much better for me, to shove a few berries in my mouth rather than a sliver of cake. I did start getting an aversion to sugar as well…
  • Glad I'm not the only one! Pre-logging is a great idea too. I did it a couple times this week and it actually resulted in me cutting one of my lunches in half because the number was higher than I would have liked.
  • Love these ideas! Definitely going to try them out tomorrow. Thanks for the motivation!
  • Ooh, I love that idea actually. I used to chew gum all the time but gave it up when I bought work-appropriate mints, but I might take it up again. I'm a Pinterest addict so thankfully I've found a ton of healthy and delicious recipes that I actually look forward to eating, otherwise I doubt I would ever have lost the…
  • Sadly we have two really tiny fridges, one is full of meats and cheeses and condiments and such for sandwiches at dinner, and the other is full of all of my health food stuff, haha. I have noticed that as time goes on and I keep seeing the same things on the table that they're not as intriguing anymore. Definitely going to…
  • They're actually 7-day fitness challenges, so for example one I started was a 7-day summer legs challenge. It's nice to have a set schedule of what exercises to do each day when I'm starting to feel like my workouts are getting repetitive. They just advise cutting out junk food for the week so you can actually see results.…
  • Thanks for the tip. Today I didn't work but I did bike to the gym and worked out for 45 minutes, then ran some errands this afternoon. I ate around 1800 Calories today and I'm not feeling hungry before bed, so that seems like a manageable amount.
  • I have MFP set to 1500 Calories a day. About 4 or 5 days a week I ride my bike to and from work and/or the gym for about 70 minutes total at 19-23 km/h, I stay on my feet for a six-hour shift, and then go to the gym to do a HIIT workout with some strength training. There have been days when I felt so exhausted that I…
  • Forgot to mention, a good blog with recipes is inspiralized.com. The recipes are not strictly vegetarian, but they are mostly veggie-based and there are even recipes for how to make burger buns out of vegetables: http://inspiralized.com/?s=burger You could probably just use them to replace the burger itself. Plus most of…
  • My dad had already been a vegetarian before I was born so I grew up eating vegetarian versions of everything. Nowadays there are so many veggie versions of meat products that it's quite easy to replace them directly in a recipe! A good brand I can recommend is Yves: http://www.yvesveggie.com/index.php It's a Canadian…
  • ^ I think I'm printing that out and hanging it on my wall :)
  • Don't focus on the number on the scale - weight loss shows itself in different forms, and there are so many variables that go into weighing yourself that it can affect the number shown. For example, the time of day, what you're wearing, how much water you're retaining, etc. all factor into your current weight. If you're…
  • Thanks a lot for all the responses - guess I will not keep my hopes up that they will disappear! At least I'm very lucky that they are just bright white instead of dark red or something more noticeable, and high up enough that only short-shorts will reveal them. Since I noticeably started losing weight over the last year…
  • I had friends visiting last week and allowed myself a bit of freedom with my food, but I wanted to make sure I at least tracked one meal each day. Broke my heart when I forgot to do it one day and my log-in streak reset... :(
