Yep, the dim just can't grasp the reality of moderation and results. Too bad....

Same here, and I admit to myself when I pass through McD or wherever that I am not there for healthy eating. This is pure taste indulging with zero care about health and wellness. BRING IT ON! >:)
-
I like the Cliff Bars when I am in a pinch and just can't eat whole, real foods.

I wash my hair a lot as well, but this give me the opportunity to try different hair styles. Today, I went with "wavy"
-
That's just sinful! And if I make some, I shall ONLY eat a few dozen. Moderation is key! >:)

Right, nature cares not about our platitudes. Nature...just is...

Seriously? OH, THE SHAME! lol Anyway, I recall just staring at this and wondering why the guy in the mirror looked different.

Right, it's a slow, slow process. I am into month one of a new session and won't see much change for 6 months.

I just eat my way and worry not. No matter what I do, it's not radical compared to my Uncle who is now in his 90's. We all made fun of his eating habits through the years until he entered his late 70's with the health of guys more than half his age. My uncle always brought his own food to all family gatherings. He won't…

2 events.* my wife said I was loathsome fat * ...and this picture somebody took and posted on FB.

Well said. I try to avoid anything canned, boxed or packaged or processed in any way. Optimal food intake is whole, real foods...lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, whole eggs, 100% whole grained, home bakes breads and such, beans and raw, whole unpasteurized dairy. That's my definition, and to get there 70% of the…

When it comes to taking care of my health and doing the right thing, I just act and let the cards fall where they may. Somebody might not like it. Oh well....

Well done, and good luck in your journey!

Well said OP! Core work is good - no debating this. I work core as an overall, full body approach that involves strength training with compound lifts as well as targeting core with planks, sit-ups and leg raises. To lower body fat, diet is key, and that's when things stand out - even for an old guy past age 50....
-
I keep my carb intake around 50% of overall diet, so that's not "low carb", but I moderate carbs. I try to regulate the quality of carb intake.

I lost 100 pounds over 2 years with a weekly cheat day. At 12:01 midnight, KATIE BAR THE DOOR! Anything goes... >:) And I maintained my results while making earnest efforts toward fat loss. As I progressed in this journey, my cheat days became less and less of a food binge. I finally stopped, because a cheat day inhibited…

It's not possible to naturally add lean mass without some of the gains being fat as well. When you gain weight, some is muscle...and some is fat. No getting around this without PED abuse which is a fast road to ill health and a shortened life.

Right, the most miserable I have ever been was when I compared myself to others.
-
I do not use that brand, but whatever. This type of device is great for those of us who enjoy juicing or smoothies instead of eating those terrible things called "vegetables" - AWFUL! :s I just won't eat them, so I make a half gallon concoction every morning to drink during the day. Today's mix is kale, carrots, tomatoes,…

Married...5 kids......life is a hoot!

This is the attitude of a winner. Winners will find a way while losers will find an excuse...and be jealous of anybody who reaches a goal! We do not have to be that person!
-
I totally do not want to hear this....and too bad... IT'S TRUE 100% This is our double edge sword. How big do we want to get given the reality of fat gains along with the muscle?
-
I just assumed all are non-smokers, but that is a huge factor. If you smoke, who cares about any other risk factor? That's the single worse habit to ruin your health.

In the pursuit of personal excellence, having standards is no vice. Remember, the thread is about how NOT to be jealous of another's achievement. We should be inspired by those who win in life and learn from them. Vince Lombardi said... "The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the…

Optimal nutrition comes from lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies, 100% whole grain, home baked stuff, beans, nuts, eggs and raw, unpasteurized dairy. And if you can't get your nutrition from whole , real foods, oh well...eat whatever...

If I were faced with such challenges, the best cure is to simply face that which brings me the most fear. In time the fear and insecurity evaporate.

Sounds like you're getting some good feedback here. It took me time to find my zone when it came to calorie intake as well as exercise burn. Best of luck! :)

You simply start tomorrow from wherever you are. Just worry not, get on track and enjoy the start of your journey back.
-
Just put today behind you and do better tomorrow. I limit my sugar by moderating any processed foods. I add no sugar to anything, and at days end, the sugar I intake just from fruits are more than enough to fuel my body's needs.

I just seek to become the very best version of myself* mentally * physically * emotionally * financially * spiritually
